It all depends on the consultant's skill and experience.

Mine was very senior, she asked if she could have 4 students she chose herself to observe.

I was fine with that.

They all came to visit us lots after the birth and were thankful for the chance to observe the application, delivery and stitching.

I healed with no problems or long-term effects.

expatinscotland · 07/02/2011 22:04

I was 32 and had been minge-waxing since I was 15 so here's a Biscuit right back atcha.

Been waxing legs since 11.

sheeplikessleep · 07/02/2011 22:04

Raven - good luck for tomorrow!! Let us know when your LO is here!

Emmanana · 07/02/2011 22:05

Good luck for tomorrow Q!!!

KenDoddsDadsDog · 07/02/2011 22:06

I had no problems either once the bruising had gone. And I'm grateful for them as DD was in distress. Did provide a comedy moment when the consultant dropped them on the floor and said to me "don't look!"

girliefriend · 07/02/2011 22:06

I was a forceps baby and have had problems with my neck all my life - coincidance?!!
Think they make lovely parents Smile

QuoththeRaven · 07/02/2011 22:07

thankyou!

night night all, have a good week

MoonUnitAlpha · 07/02/2011 22:07

My forceps baby was very bruised, one black eye and nerve damage (luckily all resolved in time).

Of course forceps hurt and damage babies - though obviously sometimes it's still the best option.

sheeplikessleep · 07/02/2011 22:07

Night night all, same time next week ...

babybear5 · 07/02/2011 22:08

All the best for tomoro Q. Night all Smile

ng1412 · 07/02/2011 22:08

night all, it's been a revelation Smile

darleneconnor · 07/02/2011 22:09

An adult woman waxing it all of is one thing. A 15 yo doing it is something else entirely!

If I knew of a 15yo doing that I'd think there was something else pretty horrid going on.

oldraver · 07/02/2011 22:10

Jeeeeeeeeeeeez forceps look barbaric - that must hurt the baby so much!!

I think they must.. if you have the stomach there is a picture on my profile of what 2 sets of forceps can do to a baby

Fucking well hurt me afair bit with only G+A as well

MoldyWarp · 07/02/2011 22:12

back to back was my easiest labour

oldme · 07/02/2011 22:14

thanks all- think I missed the part about Forceps in the baby book lol.
Was only asking as my mum had a major heart problem pre op but they just went down the normal route, they done the routine checks etc, but it was a major possibility that she would die in pregnancy or during child birth- (thats the news they gave her!) mind you it was along time ago, when MW's would insist you wore a wedding ring on the ward - the shame of those unmarried women!!!

MissTFied · 07/02/2011 22:21

I don't think she was shaved - I think it was blurred for modesty.

gemmummy · 07/02/2011 22:24

oldraver...wtf happened? I looked.

shesparkles · 07/02/2011 22:29

Is it just me or did anyone else want to slap Dean? He just didn't get that it wasn't all about him....when they went for that walk and he was behind her, on the phone, giving a running commentary...that must have helped her a lot-NOT!

oldraver · 07/02/2011 22:31

Gemmummy... if I'm being benevolent I would say overzealous use of Forceps by a consultant, he did lots of twisty, one way, then another (which I have never seen on any birth programme) movements on a feet first baby, hence the bruising to lower body

expatinscotland · 07/02/2011 22:31

'If I knew of a 15yo doing that I'd think there was something else pretty horrid going on.'

Hmm

Not really your business or your concern.

I'm very hairy with dark hair and fair skin grew up in a hot climate and didn't like being hairy.

Nothing else going on there.

Who cares what she does with her body hair is her own business.

expatinscotland · 07/02/2011 22:33

Forceps are not completely uncommonly used in CS's as well.

Hermya321 · 07/02/2011 22:35

Can I just say that Julias husband is very very irritating!!!

Sassybeast · 07/02/2011 22:38

The images were blurred -you need your eyes testing if you couldn't distinguish that Wink

darleneconnor · 07/02/2011 22:47

An oversexualised/pornified underage girl is somethig to be concerned about.

A girl would have to have been exposed to images or similar which are unsuitable for her age to even know that a 'hollywood' exists or is desirable.

twirlymum · 07/02/2011 22:55

I was a forceps baby, and have wonky ears, which my mum blames entirely on my birth. I can never wear dangly earrings at it is really noticable Blush
