I had gone out to clean my rabbit out and had done half when I went to her bed and noticed she had pulled some of her fur out and made a nest. I put my hand in the fur and came across a baby so I withdrew my hand quickly and closed the box and ushered mum back inside her hutch. I've fed and watered her as normal and put in some extra hay but I'm at a loss at what I do now. This was at about 1pm and I've left her to it but I'm concerned I've done some damage by disturbing her. Does anyone please have any experience or advice on what to do now?
Thank you.

First time I've handled one of these little cuties. So soft and gentle. Still no eyes opened so whilst they can get about they stay in the nest because it's safe. All doing well with full bellies and mum is happily out of the cage hopping around my dining room.

Awww, so tiny. Lovely to see an update today.

So are you managing to clean the hutch?

fortifiedwithtea · 08/12/2015 10:16

Oops, that should be how are you cleaning the hutch with the little family there. I'm feeling very sleep deprived today.

millimat · 08/12/2015 11:05

I've never been a rabbit fan but they are gorgeous.

Mybunnyisamummy · 08/12/2015 12:41

I just clean the main room every couple days and when they start to leave the nest I will then take away the old hay and put fresh in and rebuild the nest with a mixture of her fur and clean hay.
They are getting bigger, as they do and the nest is sort of spreading and getting bigger. They can easily move off my hand on their own so when they do open their eyes I expect they will start to wonder about and whilst the nest will still be important I won't be disturbing them if they are not in it so I can clean it. I hope on Thursday morning to see them with their eyes open 😊

Fluffy cuteness!

Mybunnyisamummy · 09/12/2015 08:20

6 babies! I managed to count them properly (I hope) and in the pics there's one underneath the others so it's not that clear on there. Still no eyes open though.

They're so cute, I want a baby bunny Grin

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 09/12/2015 10:12

but

They are lovely and soooooo teeny , you can see the size better when you hold the little tricolour.

Once their eyes open , will they get more adventuorous or does MummyRabbit keep them confined to barracks?

If the rabbit is anything like our mice, they recycle the bedding so the human interaction is reduced.
We left clean, she kicked out the mucky bedding (for us to remove) and she took the fresh bedding in.

Keep the photos coming, they are gorgeous Grin

Awwwwww baby bunnies, they are so cute, totally jealous.

Mybunnyisamummy · 09/12/2015 22:10

They are so cute and still doing the jumping around the nest blindly thing which is very funny.
I only handle them in the morning because I know by the next feed my smell will have gone but she sits on my lap watching as I handle them so she knows I'm doing it.
I will of course keep the pictures coming and hopefully they will have grown some fur and opened their eyes and by 2 weeks maybe just maybe start venturing out the nest a bit.
Mum is such a good mummy bunny and keeps her hutch very tidy and neat.
Dad came in today for a few hours and you could tell he was itching to get in the hutch but not until mum has been done 😊

Oh they're so soft and silky! Gorgeous.

Years ago a pet shop sold me two "female" hamsters who produced two babies and then ate baby and chewed one leg off the other baby It was very traumatic. The three legged one lived for a good few years though and seemed very happy.

It took me years to persuade DH to get another pet.
