I think it would really help if you start being kind to yourself Ping. Everyday sober is a success Flowers

I seem to have a weird mental block about the money I spend on it. I was shocked when my sister told me she spent £100 on her hair, what a hypocrite I am!

Mind you Cleaning I'd have a long face if I bought a 4bed house and it only had 2 bedrooms Grin (sorry)
I get what you mean though, my mother is really good at making me feel like a failure, particularly as my oldest sister married into a lot of money and lives a very affluent life compared to mine.
Flowers for you and your dad.

Gah I called you Cleaning, sorry! This is going to take a while to get used to. Like when Prince suddenly changed his name or when Jiff changed to Cif.

CleaningLikeAMotherFucker · 16/10/2017 20:53

Lost, your Cif reference was enough to make me want to change back Grin

Hi Hooch, yeah it's so weird having all this stuff sitting in my Amazon basket thinking wtf but actually it's a much better use of cash.

Yes yes to the hair example Lost. Totally relate. And yes I would have a daily mail sad face if I lost 2 bedrooms too lol

serialtester · 16/10/2017 21:07

The amount of money I can burn through on a wild weekend would pay for a lifetimes worth of cif for all of us!

ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 16/10/2017 21:08

Yay Cleaning's back. Although maybe it should be Shopping like a mother fucker he he.

Any distraction is good. Just off to distract myself with a bath and will then watch Louis Theroux gawping at pimps and hoes. Hmm

I'm struggling to get excited about the life time supply of Cif Serial Grin

ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 17/10/2017 22:16

Look out for our new thread; Surfing (sponsored by Cif for all your cleaning needs). Hmm

Another day surfed.. Found it quite difficult tonight, God knows why, it's only blooming Tuesday!

I ❤ Cif. Especially the pink one. They don't sell it everywhere. That's the one i want pls serial. Ta Grin

I've moved on from Amazon to Groupon. I have all these shopping ideas bookmarked and now I'm waiting for a craving so I can buy. But it's like my inner tightarse has been unleashed and suddenly I don't want any although tbh it's only been a couple of days 🙈

Pingu0909 · 18/10/2017 22:06

Been laughing about the hair thing lost... and well done for fighting the urges. I am the biggest tight arse ever when it comes to clothes and food... I can’t stand paying full price for anything and feel great when I get a bargain. Coke is so expensive and really not worth it... I don’t know why I don’t mind spending so much on it! I’ve been putting a smiley face on my Calendar for every day I am good. So I have 5 smiley faces so far... just something little but kind of spurs me on the more I see. Worried about tomorrow... my mum has my kids so I can get a good nights sleep (my youngest is a monster and wakes frequently through the night) so need to keep busy so I don’t use the child free night as an excuse to you know what. I’ve got some old bookshelves I am planning to paint white... would be good opportunity to do tomorrow when kids are out... with a bit of luck I might get high from the paint fumes Grin

ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 19/10/2017 14:44

Keep strong today Ping! Well done on your 5 days clean. It really helps me to keep track of my use on this thread. I thought it might help me identify my main triggers but I'm still in the dark about why I do it really. Confused

You deserve a good night's sleep, make the most of it if you can by actually sleeping. Good idea to throw yourself into your bookshelves (not literally) Wink

ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 19/10/2017 14:46

Cleaning don't convince yourself you don't deserve a treat. Perhaps reward yourself after a week or 2 weeks clean?

Don't deprive yourself if you can afford it. If it helps keep you on the straight and narrow, it's a price worth paying.

Ah man I am struggling here... taking the kids to my mums now and my stomach is going giddy with excitement thinking of being naughty... I’ve never actually fought an urge yet... have always just done it and regretted it afterwards. I have to meet my dealer because I owe him some money... how am I going to fight the temptation of getting more! Help!!

HoochiMama · 19/10/2017 18:49

It's a tough one Ping, I know exactly how you feel, I get that same excited be naughty feeling when my son is away. Do you have to meet your dealer tonight? Could you have a few drinks instead of going overboard? Concentrate on how well you are doing and that you don't want to feel guilty and shit in the morning. I will personally award you the balls of steel award if you swerve this. You can do it!!

ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 19/10/2017 18:59

Argh, can your dealer wait? That would be dancing with the devil for me. It's bloody hard but not impossible. The urge will pass!

I find the craving usually gets worse and worse and then peaks and tails off a bit later. It's just a case of riding it out. It's not fun and it feels shit but it's do able.
It doesn't feel like it now but you'll thank yourself tomorrow and actually feel more capable of surfing urges in the future.

I'm really craving it today. I've made some really strong coffee instead and trying to not think about it, and smoking a lot.

OP posts:
ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 19/10/2017 19:16

If the worst happens can I come round yours? then aim to pay up front in future.

I got myself in a situation where I was paying off a dealer and getting one on tick and it was an endless cycle. At least then you can break the inevitable loop.

OP posts:
HoochiMama · 19/10/2017 19:25

Or lock yourself in a cupboard, have a very very early night or peruse Cleaning's shopping list for alternatives....

ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 19/10/2017 19:31

It sounds a bit sad but sometimes what works for me is a nice bath, cosy pyjamas, clean bed sheets and then tuck yourself in and watch something gripping on tv and just try to enjoy feeling normally tired.
Doesn't always work though..

OP posts:
CleaningLikeAMotherFucker · 19/10/2017 20:03

My shopping list went out the window tonight fuckety fuck Angry

Dh to blame tonight aaaargh. He's not as into Amazon as I am funnily enough and he paid.

HoochiMama · 19/10/2017 20:18

Not much you can do in that case Cleaning, it would be rude not to. Never mind start your shopping list again tomorrow Smile

DustyDuck · 19/10/2017 20:21

Anyone planning to watch Gordon Ramsay on Cocaine? 9pm, itv.
'He investigates how Britain is in the grip of an epidemic'

ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 19/10/2017 20:23

Oh dear a curve ball from Mr.C. I can't say my head isn't exploding with envy. I practically weep with joy on the rare occasions my dh comes home with something Blush.

Back on your board tomorrow Cleaning you can still get back on track for your Xmas countdown.

OP posts:
ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 19/10/2017 20:27

I'm disappointed Gordon isn't actually on the stuff..imagine the swearing then! Thanks for the heads up Dusty sounds like an interesting distraction.
