aquavit · 18/05/2010 12:32

ah no, not one of those remove with a cloth cleansers, it's an old fashioned lather it up and rinse it off one.

But it doesn't come with diagrams.

Thanks to this thread I have just gone out and got another (totally unnecessary) blusher from MAC (it is a nice light coral from the Pret a Papier collection) and a shimmery plum Urban Decay eyeliner

bad MN

roary · 18/05/2010 12:59

ladyg try ren no 1 purity cleansing balm. Smells gorgeous. Wipe off with damp cloth or rinse depending on yr fancy. Or evolve does a similar sugar based one that is much cheaper at 8 quid. Am using evolve now as ren mysteriously waiting for more. Like it a lot but not such a lux smell.

WhatsAllThisThen · 18/05/2010 13:09

78 pounds for a CLEANSER! .

Get an Avene one from Boots, they're less than a tenner!

Celery · 18/05/2010 14:16

I use the Avene range for cleansing, toning and moisturising. I really like it.

Is anyone else hooked on watching make up and beauty videos on youtube? It's my number one hobby at the moment, but unfortunately, very enabling!

I like pixiewoo and Lisa Eldridge, plus many others, but they're my favourites.

SuSylvester · 18/05/2010 16:08

avene is much liked and the caudalie one too

ladyG the best copy of that is the tesco bnatural range - pretty close copy of whatserface

I want botox.

My husband says he'll leave me if I have it

I'll miss him

LadyGardenia · 18/05/2010 18:33

Not permanent but quite smoothing for immediate effect, and not expensive, Fill Monty

msboogie · 18/05/2010 19:31
YoginiBikini · 18/05/2010 19:56

hey good thread

My favourite thing of the moment is Bobbi Brown's Soothing Balm - skin been acting old and haggardy lately

also, Extreme Party Mascara. Love it

janeite · 18/05/2010 20:13

Su - I have one of those too but Boots Skin Wisdom do a collagen filler thingie that is v good for it.

Questions -

Which eye make up remover?

Can you rec a really natural lipstick that isn't sticky or cloying and that I won't try to eat/rub off within 20 seconds? The only one I have ever found is Clinique Black Honey which is lovely and light feeling but it is too dark for my aged and thin lips now.

LadyGardenia · 18/05/2010 20:52

For lips maybe the Mac Viva Glam - I don't think this is really breaking news to anyone else, but am late convert - I now use VG V which is almost identical to my actual lip colour, only better quality than actual lips. Have always found lipstick too lipsticky till I found this one.

My two mainstays:
Chanel hydramax serum. Put it on after cleansing and toning before moisturisers. Smells fab and is great at keeping moisture in. So it bloody well should be at £50.

Stila eyeshadow in liquid and powder form in Kitten. Now sadly deceased at space nk but still in us or on eBay. Lively shimmery neutral pinky/gold/bronzy colour.

eshermummy · 18/05/2010 21:10

Ooh Noddy, I don't think anyone has ever bought a makeup item on my recommendation before, I am honoured

Make up remover - I rate this one. Am contact lens wearer and also suffer on and off from some sort of eyelid lurg that I think is exzema (sp?) so anything that needs rubbing on with cotton wool is a no no.

Face cleanser - I switched to this a while ago. TBH I rate everything I have tried from this range.
Can't do the ££££ snake-venom/AHA/acid ones from Space NK and the like as skin is too sensitive and they bring me out in all over face lurg.

janeite · 18/05/2010 21:25

Thanks for the eye make up remover and lipstick recs. What consistency is the L'Oreal one, Esher? And how do you use it if no cotton wool?

eshermummy · 18/05/2010 21:35

L'oreal one is like a gel - simply rub it over eyes/lashes with finger tips - only need a tiny blob - to dissolve everything then rinse with water. I actually use all over face if I have had a full face of slap on - is very good at getting highly pigmented stuff off e.g. dark lipstick, heavy kohl etc.
