thanks wats x

For brown eyes I like Mac's mahogany. You can use it in the crease with jest as a base or on its own with a brown liner.

Also Star Violet and trax v nice.

Re: blue eyeshadow. i quite like looking like I am in Fame but find a navy liner does nicely without so much of the fame effect.

Ooooh, also the gold-y shade AMber LIghts - gorgeous for evening on brown eyes.

Has anyone tried the new Chanel lippy - think it might be called Rouge? - was in all the mags at Easter, supposed to be halfway between a proper
lipstick and a gloss iirc...

MrsMeow · 17/05/2010 18:56

Thanks for the eyeshadow ideas!

scratchmyback · 17/05/2010 19:54

sorry, have missed the bronzer recommendation/ Su can you save me trawling and tell me again?

I want one with a bit of a shimmer to it but dont want to look too sparkly!

scratchmyback · 17/05/2010 19:55

Thanks for additional reccys for an all over hi-lighter. will check out the soap and glory and the guerlain.
Checked out the clinique uplighting and it looked good but was short of time and blardy boots didn't have tester for the nude shade which is one I wanted to try

Went to Space NK today (had gift voucher left over from christmas) and bought

Old Faithful

By Terry stuff which I use for dark circles/red bits around nose etc

Faberoonie bright coral lipgloss

then went to boots and spent £5 voucher on
grey shade of these - highly recommended if you like a dragqueen eye of an evening (I do )

Was mucho taken with yellow nail varnish but didn't buy but really wanted to.

What with all the blardy tie dye that's creeping into my wardrobe I appear to be having some sort of midlife festival inspired crisis

noddyholder · 17/05/2010 20:54

Oh i like that coral lip gloss so pretty in teh summer Might take a look this weekend thanks x

eshermummy · 17/05/2010 21:32

Noddy - the LM colour I got is "Heatwave" and is a deep corally orange but reasonably sheer on application.
I was dithering between that and the By Terry one in a similar colour but less sheer/more pigmented colour (can't remember name of shade). Both worth a gander.

WannabeMakeUpArtist · 17/05/2010 22:02

Decor - I've got the new Chanel Rouge Allure in delicate, it is lovely on an does stay put a bit more than gloss plus no stick!

Ref. eyeshadow colours etc... I've got really dark brown eyes and find that a lot of browns just don't suit me, this also has a lot to do with my colouring and I look like I've been smacked in the eyes! I think greens can look lovely against brown eyes, especially if they have a hint of shimmer and/or gold in them.

LOVE urban Decay 24/7 liners, some fab colours in there, really soft and smudge well for some fantastic looks!

womblingalong · 17/05/2010 22:02

great purple chubby eyeliner pencil is one in Boots 17, I think it is great on brown eyes.

fishie · 17/05/2010 22:10

i've got rouge coco in byzantin here is lovely but to be put on sheer not thickly.

fishie · 17/05/2010 22:11

it smells of roses.

WannabeMakeUpArtist · 17/05/2010 22:19

Ohhh I tried that but wasn't quite brave enough to buy it, I have really a really big mouth/lips and have to be careful how I make them up so always manage to back away from a bold colour like that. They do smell amazing and really moisturise you lips too!

I also recently bought the No.7 limited edition purple eyeliner with one of the vouchers doing the rounds and think its fab! I wear it with a blue mascara which looks purple on my lashes and a very good combo for dark hair!

nelsonscolumn · 17/05/2010 23:01

Hi. I am venturing into this thread to see if anyone has the answer to my perennial problem ..redness on my cheeks. Have tried the Benefit yellow powder thing and a couple of green creams to no avail. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

that is interesting wat

I can only tell you what doesn't work nelson

most expensively the clinique redness solutions

did absolutely nada

although I have less redness now am using fancy moisturiser

LadyGardenia · 18/05/2010 11:23

Mmm this thread is like reading fab mag.

Not strictly make-up BUT I have for years now used Liz Earle to cleanse & moisturise (when I remember), am now ancient and wondering is it time to move on to something more heavy duty to prop up the skin a bit more, was eyeing up Eve Lom, but it's horrifically expensive, the cleanser alone is 78 quid does anyone recommend anything else for daily duty?

aquavit · 18/05/2010 11:35

good god almighty 78 quid!!

I cannot rave enough about Neal's Yard - I use the rose cleanser because I like to use water (it's so nice that sometimes I forget to moisturise but still don't get all itchy and tight), also the orange blossom or the frankincense moisturiser

the thing that has really transformed my skin though is their orange blossom night cream (though perhaps it is also because I like it so much that I bother rather more often to clean and moisturise at night)

normally I think it is v v spenny but next to your Eve Lom stuff it is nice and cheap!

LadyGardenia · 18/05/2010 11:40

I think you pay extra for the facial massage diagrams you get in the leaflet.

I am in Ireland so not always easy to get full range of Neal's Yard but there is a lovely old-fashioned chemist I know that does have some of their stuff. When you say you use the rose cleanser becasue you like to use water, do you mean that you remove it with water a la Liz?

lilysmemo · 18/05/2010 11:48

I love benefit TM "you rebel" and Piz Buin summer sensation is a great light fake tan , gradual , but good enough so you don't need to apply every day- i am fair and freckly irish and it doesn't leave me yellow :-)
