Following on from here

Surely the sun will be out by the end of this thread?

sorry, sorry I'm not expressing myself properly. I don't want those black shoes, I want a pair of tan clog-like wooden heeled shoes from Kurt Geiger or similar. But I already have those Faith shoes in tan. So prob can't justify a KG purchase.

Am basically seeking enablement

Romanarama · 03/03/2010 18:59

Get those lovely Carvela ones with the wide suede sort of wrap-around straps that you linked to the other day. They were lovely.

LetThemEatCake · 03/03/2010 19:00

don't get me started on the joys of freelance journalism. OWW do you ever fly Martinair? You'll see a beach feature that I sweated blood for. Getting answers from some people is like pulling your feet out of day-old cement

dexter73 · 03/03/2010 19:04

I can't see your Reiss links traceybath - just get homepage.

carciofi · 03/03/2010 19:28

LTEC, consider yourself enabled!

MarshaBrady · 03/03/2010 19:37

Evening lovely people. Ds in bed, dh at work nice to relax on s&ber thread.

Loved Ltec's debut, fantastic (was it in one take? Did they 'direct' you? you know to get a mental image of being in a movie ). You looked fab, really looking forward to seeing the movie.

Some great things here, Libra thanks for comment on boots about oh four pages ago...

I love this thread too. More compliments these days. And it's down to you my friends. I might feel weird making so much effort but you are all in my head willing me to use my wardrobe wisely everyday. Brilliant .

hellsbelles · 03/03/2010 19:46

Evening all. Still slightly uneasy after a whole day of not being able to even think about spending. I can't even get my refunds - have to wait till new card is issued for a refund for the horrible bag!

Roman = I can't believe that you have a well trained dog and they still didn't call you back . I'm not suprised you are angry.

Verity - about your mont blanc - I know if I had one I would lose it within seconds.

Blossoming and Tracey - why can't I open your links. Do you think I have been blocked because they know I can't buy!!

LTEC - I really do think you need to get a new pair. Those ones are good but not as delicious as the others ones you've linked to.

hellsbelles · 03/03/2010 19:50

Marsha I feel the same. Definitely is a lovely motivating thread.

Romanarama · 03/03/2010 19:55

Verity, I lost a Mont Blanc too a couple of years ago also all my jewellery when moving house 6 months ago .

Do we do jewellery? I'm thinking of these diamond studs to replace something that was lost. I have some insurance money just arrived luckily.

blossoming · 03/03/2010 19:55

I am so annoyed you can't open my links.
They're both mini dresses, one in a shocking pink leaf design and the other bluewith stars you may have seen me link to before.
Feel frumpy today. Must try harder. And I am beyond bored with my stadium squall. (Please do not google if in the dark).

LetThemEatCake · 03/03/2010 20:00

should I be annoyed that I'm not getting any extra compliments on my appearance these days!!?? I must be missing a trick

I agree that it's a great thread though. I check it the way I check FB. With one, it's "oooh, what are my RL friends up to?" Here, it's "what are my Wise and Avid friends doing today?"

I sort of forget that i don't know you sometimes. I saw something the other day and thought, "oh must text esher".. and was a bit befuddled for a mo about not being able to

Hollyoaks on, heading back in the thread for some clickage

carciofi · 03/03/2010 20:11

Blossoming, I like the blue dress best.

MarshaBrady · 03/03/2010 20:12

I think mine come from only knowing people since last September (when ds1 started reception) so it's the first time they've seen me not pg!

Also the school run means more people, and more standing around.... you'll get it when your dd starts I know it.

LetThemEatCake · 03/03/2010 20:12

tracey I need to see your Reiss links!!
what kind of white dress are you after? beachy or dressier?

lovely studs Roman.

this is my current object of jewellery desire

VerityBrulee · 03/03/2010 20:13

Come on cakey you're a movie star now, get the Kojaks, if you're moving back to Sydney you'll needs of summer shoes

Lots of kahki macs in m&s, zara etc but no cream. House of Fraser have 20% off in Dublin tomorrow so I'll have a look, Harvey Nichols in next door it would be rude to walk past without saying hello!

OWW I always see great links to Uniqlo, but there's none in Dublin

Romanarama you are justifiably . If you can't get a job, what hope for the rest of us. Seriously of your CV.

Libra my youngest is 6 and has been well trained

Love the seahorse!

VerityBrulee · 03/03/2010 20:14

Aargh I'm so slow at typing (should be supervising teeth) I'm missing loads!

OP posts:
hellsbelles · 03/03/2010 20:20

LTEC - I think you should be flattered. It suggests you were already dressing brilliantly. I think I'm getting more compliments as I was pretty dire before (though I'm sure that is not the case with Marsha whose outfits I swoon over!)

RIght off to watch 24...see you later.

Fleecy · 03/03/2010 20:24

roman am a bit scared of you now you're obviously quite a lady - their loss!

My Dad has gone into hospital today and is having his op first thing tomorrow. Bit nervous even though I know people have ops every day - he is 71 and has never had a general anaesthetic (sp?) before. My poor mum is very worried but trying desparately not to let it show. She's a born worrier though so she's not doing a very good job of hiding it

Hope you're all well. Haven't yet had time to catch up on all the links from last couple of days. Will get cracking...

monkeysmama · 03/03/2010 20:25

Hey all

I am not happy. I had my eyebrows threaded today as I have been doing for many years. A new girl did them. I feel a bit tearful (as shallow as that makes me sound!) She's taken over a cm off where one should be in line with my eye - so it goes a cm back from there and the other one isn't much better. Dp says I look like Mrs Potato Head. My mum saw them and without me even mentioning eyebrows said "oh dear".

I am also doing the lone parent thing and have spent the day being pulled and cried for by my teething dd so I am going for a bath and early night. Will look at all links etc tomorrow.

One question though about theItalianwedding - is it English or Italian people? As I mentioned before, if it is Italians and there are several bits (church, meal etc) you may be expected to change outfits.

Night all.

GeorginaWorsley · 03/03/2010 20:45

LTEC will those sandals make more of your summer wardrobe??
Will they in fact stop you from needlessly buying other outfits, when they will update what you have got??
Those are the qusetions I ask myself before a purchase now.

eshermummy · 03/03/2010 20:48

Hello all
Am I allowed to be supremely chuffed that both Tracey and LTEC have thought "must tell Esher". If only because I have started doing it too !!! It's good fun though isn't it? DH thinks this thread is hilarious - he was absurdly chuffed the other day to have been christened "EsherDaddy"!!!

Right, tomorrow night is book club and I am still only half way through the book so I am NOT going to get sucked in tonight - this thread is SERIOUSLY addictive and i have GOT to read that book tonight but....

LTEC - love the film appearance - you are a complete looker you know. 6 weeks pp ffs! Can't see your shoes link but get some new ones anyway

Tracey - will check out R&B - I did have a lovely pair of R&B clogs in 1995 when I was 21 and in last year of uni - I do not know what happened to them but am going to ask my mum if she still has them.

Blossoming - annoyingly I couldn't see your links either

Hells - glad the purse wasn't stolen after all

Romanarama - if you can't crack the jobmarket with that CV then noone can - I often wonder what I would still be fit for after 6 years out of the job-market and now I know, sweet F.A. by the sounds of it! Good job I have no plans to return any time soon then!

Am awaiting the arrival of Ash gold hi-tops tomorrow and also made Outnet order yesterday which was despatched today so should be here tomorrow too- yaaay.
Ordered this, this, these and in the blue too and these - only planning to keep one top and one pair of leggings - will see which I prefer.
Am also going to order these for me (small feet ) in silver and DD1 in the bronze. Wanted to get DD2 a pair in yellow so we all had team glads for holiday but her feet are too small . Anyone seen any little girls glads in a 22/23 size (must be leather)?

For anyone contemplating an OASIS purchase - code 2010GIFT for 20% off till midnight this Sat.

eshermummy · 03/03/2010 20:53

oh MM I feel for you I really do! They will grow back in you know and in a few days it will be much less noticeable. Am sure it is far more noticeable to you than anyone else.
I promise you it won't feel as disastrous after a good night's sleep so go and have a rest and forget all about it. xxx

hellsbelles · 03/03/2010 21:32

MM - horrible - you poor poor thing. I know exactly what that is like and it makes you feel really weird.

Esher at Esherdayy - DH was also supremely thrilled when I told him our thread leader had suggested he sounded rather cool. I DIDN'T show him her picture though. He would have been rather too thrilled

Roman - thinking about what Libras said. I do recall reading somewhere that some people were actually dumbing down their CV's to get jobs - as sometimes if you are over qualified it scares off the potential employer.

I had a very wise boss who said 'employ people you are scared of (i.e. are potentially better than you).' - logic being they will do wonderful work for you as they are brilliant and you are forced to get better too. I have always followed that advice...however I think that often people are scared to employ someone that could potentially threaten their position in future....and perhaps that is what is happening here. I know that doesn't help though - sorry!

hellsbelles · 03/03/2010 21:33

Esherdaddy obviously!
