I have one top from White Stuff. My friend in Bristol told me that it's de rigeur at the school gates where she lives so I've not bought anything else since.

I am 45 and wear Uniqlo, Uttam and topshop on the whole. I have never wafted in my life.

OurLadyOfPerpetualSupper · 13/02/2010 12:34

Yes, I keep seeing it at the school gates lately and we're totally in the sticks.

I had a spell of buying there last autumn, got two jumpers and a bag. One jumper went out of shape after washing, the other split under the arms and the clasp on the bag broke. Oh, and the embroidery on a skirt bought to go with said jumpers unravelled, but now I have nothing to wear it with anyway. < bitter >

I agree it's hard to find anywhere else though if you don't want to do Next or DP and you can't spend a fortune.

Online shopping isn't really a solution I don't think, as I rarely keep much of any orders I make, and often when see something in rl that's been linked to here it looks rubbish.

I wish they'd stock the sticksy shops half as well as the London ones - I often see things in magazines which never seem to arrive here.

noddyholder · 13/02/2010 12:40

I have a white stuff duvet cover but no clothes although I will be wearing it soon if I don't stop scoffing vegi pasties which I have recently become addicted to!

EdgarAllenSnow · 13/02/2010 12:46

hmm a matter a taste noddy and i finally agree on veg pasties

yummmmmmy

legalwannabe · 13/02/2010 12:48

I'd never heard of White Stuff before (I'm early 30s and based in London) and then a banner ad popped up on MN - www.whitestuff.com/Her-Stuff-CWOMENS/

Think I prefer Boden.

CiderIUpAndSetIFree · 13/02/2010 12:49

Oh gawd, just bought (another) White Stuff patterned wafty tunic in town about an HOUR ago

And yes I am of a certain age, and yes it's very popular with the other mothers of a certain age round here too... But the shop assistants make you feel so lovely, they are practically my FRIENDS in there, they even offered me hot chocolate...

Actually most of the above does put me right off it, but there's so little choice. Fat Face is minging at the moment, I can't quite get to grips with M&S, never see anything I like in H&M, or even Next these days.

There's a big gap in the market (and it's not Gap either, I've gone off that too).

legalwannabe · 13/02/2010 12:49

or are you guys referring to The White Company? In which case, I own loads, inc. nightwear!

MarthaFarquhar · 13/02/2010 12:49

not if they live in Manchester
we've not got one

unless you count a couple of rails at John Lewis in the seventh circle-- of hell Trafford Centre. Which isn't really in Manchester.

Romanarama · 13/02/2010 12:52

I just had a look - don't own any, though am 37 - and thought it was pretty awful really. Definitely nothing there I'd want to buy at all. And I don't see what their concept is: why the chinese 'clothes' logo but random floral background? Maybe everything's made in China?

SixtyFootDoll · 13/02/2010 13:03

I dont own any White Stuff and dont know anyone who does, too posh for us commoners!

SixtyFootDoll · 13/02/2010 13:05

Just had a quick look at the white sstuff website, not very exciting is it?

BonjourIvressedeNoel · 13/02/2010 13:13

White stuff is proper boring - at least you can laugh at boden

boden is like a teenager on acid.

Whitestuff is like a granny in a flannalette gown just about to die

its got nothing about it, its drab & dreary and terribly sad.

and its costs a lot

YoureGorgeous · 13/02/2010 13:20

noddy you mean whie company
am off out tonight too.
options include jeans wiht vaerity of tops( including never worn zara studded top - just dont like the neck i think)

Riven get in the old dodderers corner with me!

squeaver · 13/02/2010 14:06

I don't get it. At all.

Going out stuff, agree, is Zara. Or, now, Banana Republic

noddyholder · 13/02/2010 14:08

I like zara or french connection but am 44

CiderIUpAndSetIFree · 13/02/2010 14:08

YG re party question, I'd probably have a quick look in Monsoon, but either not like anything or not be able to afford anything I did like.

Forgot about Zara, it's the only shop I get vaguely excited about, but that's probably because I only get to go one about twice a year.

DP is actually pretty reliable for jeans and tops and t-shirt-tunic-things, quite a lot of my wardrobe seems to be emanating from there at the moment (sadly).

Actually I don't really go to 'parties' as such, so the White Stuff tops usually suffice.
