Nope
But am against denim in anything other than trouser form

Batteryhuman · 19/01/2010 19:03

Why on earth not? Its a nice respectable if slightly dull skirt. How do you think teachers should dress?

FredAboutAFred · 19/01/2010 19:04

no idea

I'd have done cord but not denim.

Smacks of can't be arsed or trying to be trendy.

Also, teachers in denim always makes kids lol.

Think of jeans with a crease down the front on school trip days.

NomDePlume · 19/01/2010 19:08

depends on what she was wearing it with. Looks mumsy to me, but then I suppose teachers should ideally look slighty mumsy/non threatening/non sexual at work

FredAboutAFred · 19/01/2010 19:08

the kids where i taught had never noticed teachers werent allowed denim jeans. think skirts are ok
" oh arent they?" they said

cord is ok.

I think no, I think denim is maybe too casual for school. Nice skirt though.

I like that white stuff one and am in desperate need of more forgiving denim for my bottom half.

But I do wear jeans to school...but in a smart way

NotSoRampantRabbit · 19/01/2010 19:11

DS teacher always wears tight pencil denim skirt and bosom skimming tops. She's no spring chicken.

She is a brilliant teacher though so I forgive all sartorial errors. She can wear nipple tassles and leather pants as far as I'm concerned.

FredAboutAFred · 19/01/2010 19:12

funny how diffo schools have diffo cultures of staff dressing isnt it
primary teachers are all in cargo trousers

men dont have to wear ties at mine

Cyb · 19/01/2010 19:13

My school is actually staffed by quite a few slim tall white stuff/Boden types so sartorially we are not too bad.

Also some great 70's teachers who's stuff is so trendy now its painful (altho they are oblivious)

StanleyAccrington · 19/01/2010 19:16

fine I think
but then I wear jeans to work unless I'm in court

FredAboutAFred · 19/01/2010 19:17

in yoorp they are all much more chilled arent they

there are only 2 male teachers at DD's school (not inc Head who doesn't teach). One is Mr Berghaus, all outdoorsy practical bri-nylon and the other has terrible tast in 'amusing' polyester ties and heinous short sleeved shirts. Ties and short sleeved shirts. Horrid.

DD has 2 teachers (job share) and they are both boots, smart trousers, roll necks type women

PandaG · 19/01/2010 19:19

Fine imo

TheFallenMadonna · 19/01/2010 19:20

Wouldn't be allowed in our school. HEad would have a fit. She thinks the women teachers are a slovenly lot as it is.

UnrequitedSkink · 19/01/2010 19:20

Our teachers - even the young ones - seem to have to sign a 'we will wear mumsy clothing' clause before they start. A denim skirt would cause waves of consternation in the staff room I expect.

traceybath · 19/01/2010 19:20

I think a little too casual really.

DS's teachers all seem to dress nicely but the men wear ties and the women seem to do smart trousers or skirts.

MrsMattie · 19/01/2010 19:20

I don't do denim skirts myself, but it's not a bad one. Not too tarty, not too frumpy.

Cyb · 19/01/2010 19:21

A lovely child asked me why I was wearing an 'apron' today. it was a patterned wrap dress
