Be happy!

DreamsInBinary · 13/01/2010 18:37

Bunnymother I used these, although not from this buyer. Search for 'whitestrips' and loads pop up.

flyingcloud · 13/01/2010 18:55

Why can't you get the Crest white strips over here (the link no longer works for me?)

I used them when I was in America, all my American friends use them and they really work.

My cure all is fresh-air, water and fake tan. I use Clarins, not Lancome (as I find it really drys my face out).

InmaculadaConcepcion · 13/01/2010 19:12

Good old Palmers Cocoa Butter moisturiser - cheap, works a treat and leaves you smelling good enough to eat (assuming most people like toffees...)

Use for hands and body - even my nine year-old niece remarked on how soft my hands were compared with hers - bless!

And a bit of sparkly eyeshadow or eyeliner is always a good morale booster in the winter - don't just save it for going out, whack a bit on for the school run (if you've got time...)

Jolene2 · 13/01/2010 20:12

Sweaty and cross - yup, I know that look far better than I'd like to. Hmmm.

Haircut long overdue especially after disaster attempt to dye my hair at home when I had no time to go the hairdresser. That'll learn me....

Boots (and some of the bigger sainsburys) sell a range of body butters called moisturlicious (or similar). It's really reasonably priced and there is one that smells lovely and chocolatey.

HuwEdwards · 13/01/2010 20:45

Every morning splash your face liberally with cold (and I mean cold) water, yes, even in this weather. Great for the complexion, tightens the skin and excellent for your circulation.

SixtyFootDoll · 13/01/2010 21:08

Exercise
Water
Sleep
Aloevera gel tablets, cleanse from the inside!

I like the general concensus (sp?) on the importance of eyebrow shaping, be it threading or waxing, it can def take years off you if done well.

i get mine done at Fenwicks in Newcastle. Threading bars seem to be spreading the way that nail bars did a few years ago. Harvey Nicks has got one, but its about £30 for a basic eyebrow thread - yikes !

MillyR · 13/01/2010 21:22

I had my eyebrows threaded in Debenhams in Leeds. It was agony - about 20 times more painful than eyebrow waxing. It might have been agony because I have huge eyebrows.

But they have never looked better - I am really happy. It might just be that the woman who did them was really good, rather than threading as a method is really good.

Anyway, it was only £10 in Debenhams.

NotGrownUpEnough · 13/01/2010 21:33

what is the oil method? Can anyone fill me in? I feel like i've missed out on a big secret :-)

Filofax · 13/01/2010 22:15

Hi ladies

Ive got a 4 month old and a toddler so could seriously do with some tips on fake perkiness.

Here's my offering:

Eyelash curlers - Bodyshop £5
No7 Instant Radiance - Boots £16ish might be less, its fab but not to be confused with Clarins beauty flash balm its a different type of product
Orange blusher - Ruby & Millie at Boots, just been out for a walk pink cheekedness, its not actually bright orange on your skin
Airbrush concealer - Clinique

Also vote for exfoliation and moisturise and fake tan, a good night's sleep is also fantastic but I've no hope of that.

Also wear white or cream tops rather than black.

Short nails with a clear polish always look groomed, and far better than chipped, or in any way imperfect, colour.

LetThemEatCake · 13/01/2010 23:40

marking place. Thanks all, looks like good reading.

LackaDAISYcal · 14/01/2010 00:35

I bought some olay total effects touch of foundation moisturiser and several people have said I was looking "very healthy". Would love to think I was "radiant" but with several wakings at night for grizzly toddlers and a 5am start to the day, that would be pushing it and I'd know they were lying if they had said that!

poshsinglemum · 14/01/2010 07:24

Take perfectil skin, hair and nails supplements.

Meglet · 14/01/2010 07:45

Pluck eyebrows / tidy nails sitting on the loo seat while dc's are in the bath. I do it every bath night and it keeps on top of it.

bunnymother · 14/01/2010 09:50

Thanks DreamsInBinary!! I cannot give up my black coffee, but neither do I want taupe coloured teeth... Thanks again!

BTW I pluck my eyebrows, is there a big difference between plucked eyebrows and threaded eyebrows?

Loreal primer is fab!

Loreal ("inspired by YSL touche eclat") concealer under my eyes w the primer together are a powerful force.

Also a flattering nude coloured eyeshadow.

If putting your hair up, don't pull it too tight, esp at the top of your head (makes your hair look thin and therefore you look older). Not promoting a 50s rockerbilly quiff, but you know what I mean...

Bio Oil instead of moisturiser leaves my skin feeling lovely. But it does have rhino dryness tendencies, so perhaps not for you English roses w moist skin anyway...

Another vote for Sanctuary salt scrub - heaven in a jar! No need for body moisturiser afterwards. The Sanctuary ranges are at Boots and are great - smell wonderful and work really well.

HerMomminess · 14/01/2010 09:54

Inspirational stuff! Dragged self to gym to rectify lack of exercise issue and to improve glow.

Keep them coming! Must go get some Sanctuary stuff actually!

noddyholder · 14/01/2010 10:07

God have eaten pringles for breakfast today Bloody hopeless!

bodsmum · 14/01/2010 11:41

Dont do what one of the (v lovely) mums on the preschool run does...full coverage foundation but with No blusher..looks v 'flat' and weird ..i keep having to bite my tongue everytime i see her..and she is sooo pretty underneath it.A little gloss and mascara also great to balance it out.

Some days when you look like you have actually risen from a coffin rather than stepped out of bed it's better not to do the whole 'make-up' mask to hide it..it can make things look much worse and you are better of using..

Colour as your friend..highlight any last bits of glow you might possess(post broken nights, early wakenings, brutal old age etc!)with warm pink or peach shaded(or whatever your best 'lifting' colour maybe) accessories/jumpers..quick and yummy and bright clothing always cheers me up.

Make yet another snowman with the DCs..your nose will turn red and drip but by the time DP gets home you will have defrosted into a vision of pink cheeked beautiousness(erhem..or thereabouts)

Alongside the exercise slather on the body lotion all over. The massage will help the toning. You will be getting your arms and legs out on show eventually so start getting ready now.

AdelaideJo · 14/01/2010 17:03

I keep reading about the wonders of "night oil" on the face but just went into Boots and Debenhams beauty counters and could find absolutely nothing oil-like at all!!

Can anyone recommend a brand?

AuldAlliance · 14/01/2010 18:52

Romanarama
épilation au fil
or
technique indienne

SixtyFootDoll · 14/01/2010 21:10
