I don't drink (not out of choice but BF at mo) but I look rubbish...could be something to do with that 10 wk old DD upstairs though!
I wish the beauticians did a 'grooming' session. I just want to hand myself over to someone and for them to de-fuzz, buff and moisturise me, but no, to get that I have to book about 300 different treatments!
Liz Earle stuff is the nuts, once you start using it you'll never go back to high street stuff. If only I had the time to slather it on

The teensiest bit of gold mascara applied to the tips of your eyelashes when you go out in the evening - on top of other black/brown mascara looks really lovely and really brightens your eyes and nobody knows why.

If you are feeling drab, brush your hair, apply some cream blusher and some lip gloss and wear a corsage on your coat lapel. It will make you feel turned out. Even if you feel like shit, and are wearing your jammies under your coat.

DreamsInBinary · 12/01/2010 22:24

Ah, cream blusher - I need to get me some of that. Ant recommedations?

jujubean · 12/01/2010 22:25

I can't it gives her terrible wind, glass of wine just not worth the pain of several hours of winding/screaming. and the little blighter won't take a bottle so can't even give her a bit of alcohol free expressed milk. Bloody kids

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 12/01/2010 22:39

For feet I recommend Sanctuary salt scrub - not the one intended for feet, just the normal one in a big glass tub.
Then L'Occitane shea foot cream, 'tis fab.

What is the verdict Benetint v. cream blusher? Have used Benetint for years, is it worth looking elsewhere?

Is Chanel Vitalumiere really that good? I have resisted getting it but I could be convinced I think.

I am terrible at not shaving my legs in the winter, must do better on that front.

Swedington · 12/01/2010 22:39

I like this blush - it's subtle and suits my dark hair, green eyes and freckles colouring, it might be a little pink if you are olive poss?

MarineIguana · 12/01/2010 22:53

Someone on here recommended Aapri blackhead-clearing scrub - my skin's much clearer/glowier since I started using that.

Definitely Benefit Dandelion - makes you look glowing, but not covered in blusher.

And I apply Vaseline around my eyes every night and morning because I have sensitive skin and expensive anti-wrinkle stuff makes it sore. The vaseline works! Eyes look fresh and not v. wrinkly (for 40).

brimfull · 12/01/2010 22:58

just marking this to come back to

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 12/01/2010 22:58

Ooh Jo Malone, yum.

I have similar colouring to you Swedington by the sounds of it, dark hair, fair skin and freckles and hazel/green eyes.

It is out of stock, I will register for an e-mail!

I have another. Elle macpherspon salt scrub is absolutely terrific in the shower. It is lovely and oily and really nourishes and smooths skin. I use it about twice a week and buy it 3 tubs at a time. I think it costs about £10. It really is as good as the Elemis lime and Ginger salt scrub I used to use and that cost about £40

DreamsInBinary · 12/01/2010 23:09

V similar Swedington - pale with dark hair and blue eyes. Will also register!

DreamsInBinary · 12/01/2010 23:14

A lick of the yellow Maybelline mascara (Colossal Volum' Express - ignire the naff name) makes a remarkable difference. I never rated the pink one, but this is fab.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 12/01/2010 23:25

DIB that is useful - I was about to start a thread asking about mascara as I've never found one that I've been 100% happy with.

I will start a seperate thread actually so that it doesn't get lost in here - anyone with any recommendations please pop over!

Swedington - I think I have some of that upstairs. FIL bought me a whole bag of Elle Mc. stuff for Christmas and I've not started it yet.

BuckBuckMcFate · 12/01/2010 23:28

Borrow an old person

Keep them with you at all times

You will look youthful and glowy in comparison

TheChicOfIt · 12/01/2010 23:30

Haven't read all the thread so sincere apologies if I repeat, but my tips are........

exfoliate
massage (face and body to eliminate toxins)
moisturise
exercise
drink lots of water
bit of fake tan
whitening toothpaste
tint your eyelashes
paint your nails

et voila

DreamsInBinary · 12/01/2010 23:31

Hey, Ali, haven't seen you for ages

Oh, and hand cream every time your hands have been in water. I have one at the sink, one in the bathroom, one at work and numerous in handbags. Boots concentrated expert one is fine, L'Occitane better.

DreamsInBinary · 12/01/2010 23:34

Oh, and those tooth-whitening strips (from ebay - not on sale in UK) work wonders.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 12/01/2010 23:40

I have been around, but fell off the healthy eating wagon spectacularly and am hiding in shame!

Agree about hand cream, I have gallons of the stuff everywhere. L'Occitane is my favourite too, although the Oilatum I get on prescription for DS is also very good.

at BuckBuck

i think minerals work best on people with naturally greasy skin, tbh, so it all gets worked in. and you need an excellent brush.

SuperflousBuns · 13/01/2010 07:15

Tesco 'make-up' do a cream called face lift, goes on over your moisturiser, gives a lovely glow and has spf,a bit of cream blush and some benefit 'high-beam',curl the eylashes and pop on mascara.done.

Georgimama · 13/01/2010 07:41

Looks like I'm snowed in with DS today so it's CBeebies some educational activities for him and a DIY mani-ped for me.

Earthstar · 13/01/2010 07:46
