...but i was wondering what with new shapes etc etc if there was anything that might be out there for me. it's all about the lack of waist for me. actually, it's all about the fact that i have no abdominal muscles to speak of, post-children. so i might look okay in a dress but then, you know, i sit down and... sack of spuds.

my computer won't let me see your last link, cyb, for my personal safety. is it like matthew brod on war games?

CybilAviationAuthority · 25/10/2009 19:43

a pattern is great for hiding hot spots, especially when sitting down

CybilAviationAuthority · 25/10/2009 19:44

No, its a dress from Great Plains called SALT Dress. Peruse at your leisure.

hoxtonchick · 25/10/2009 19:44

hmmmm, i am an apple too & wear dresses all the time. shit, now i'm paranoid. like that winter one simon, what's the material like?

AitchTwoToTangOh · 25/10/2009 19:46

i KNOW you do, hoxton, and you look great in them. you are my inspiration. i so wished i'd been able to get that denim bell dress last year, i feel it might have kick-started a fashion rev for my stuckist self.

Blush
traceybath · 25/10/2009 19:50

The kew dress is gorgeous in the flesh.

I'm a similar shape to you aitch and find I have to wear sort of close fitting shift dress styles. Not necessariy formal but that sort of shape.

Empire line does not work well on me nor belts.

And agree with cybil regarding a long line boyfriend style cardi over above the knee dress being a good look on apples.

Am quite liking this in black

Or this in navy with this in navy on top. And yes I know the last dress is very boden but I'm rather drawn to it.

But then am still contemplating winter white cords

AitchTwoToTangOh · 25/10/2009 19:51

oh i do like the pattern on the great plains dress. lovely.

hoxtonchick · 25/10/2009 19:52

we are the apple-y good legs gang aitch . i have that denim tunic you know & don't wear it often at all, would you like it?

CybilWrites · 25/10/2009 19:52

wasn;t sure if neck too high. Do you have tittage issues?

nevergoogledragonbutter · 25/10/2009 19:54

I googled 'elephant in a dress'. Don't you just love the internet?!

Anyway, I just bought a lovely purple sweater dress from monsoon. I also have a belly. It has front pockets, cowl neck and 3/4 length loose sleeves. Doesn't seem to be on the website though.

hoxtonchick · 25/10/2009 19:54

actually, is different t&n denim thing to that bell sleeved dress, but you're still welcome to it.

AitchTwoToTangOh · 25/10/2009 19:56

no, they're not too big for it, fairly neat shape imo. i could wear a cardie with it and tuck my hair behind my ears and channel my inner art curator.

hoxty, i'd love it, but i fear that you are making a mistake as last year you LOVED that dress. get it out the wardrobe and wear it again, esp now that the weather's turned nippy. you'll be back in love in no time.

Hm, I see you have called in the S&B A Team , so you may have no further need of these suggestions:

Not sure about the cowl neck

I've linked to this before but still think it's almost right (colour's a bit dull but the rest???)

I was thinking a v-neck might suit you but the stuff you like doesn't have a v so maybe I'm wrong

AitchTwoToTangOh · 25/10/2009 20:01

like the sixties knit, tracey, in the blue and pink actually. but the flowery dress... erk. i think i would need a Very Good Friend to hold my hand and tell me i looked wonderful, iykwim?

OP posts:
traceybath · 25/10/2009 20:03

what about this - possibly too black and 80's.

You want colour don't you?

AitchTwoToTangOh · 25/10/2009 20:04

very much like v necks, thanks. like that grey one a lot but it looks like it might wash like shit, doesn't it? what's that brand like, are they pretty reliable?

OP posts:
AitchTwoToTangOh · 25/10/2009 20:05

lolol tracey, i totally think that would be great if i was going on a night out, actually. with long dangly earrings, mega. but not for stylish daywear, not unless i was amanda holden.

OP posts:
NorkilyChallenged · 25/10/2009 20:07

The only thing I have from Soul Cal is cotton and washes just fine, have no knitwear so can't comment.

hoxtonchick · 25/10/2009 20:11

no, no 'tis different, more tunicy.i have to go to the post office tomorrow anyway....

traceybath · 25/10/2009 20:12

I think it could work with leggings and ballet flats but then it reminds me of my first ever fashionable dress from tammy girl .

The one thing I enjoyed about pregnancy was wearing dresses as they're so easy but 'tis hard to find flattering ones when apple shaped. I also have the double problem of being small whilst having ridiculously large bf boobs at present.

Saw this in the shop and looked nice.

nice but jigsaw so expensive

too amanda h?

AitchTwoToTangOh · 25/10/2009 20:13

cheers, though. i hope that didn't come across as me being ungracious though cos i'm not at all.

AitchTwoToTangOh · 25/10/2009 20:13

last post to norky.

OP posts:
AitchTwoToTangOh · 25/10/2009 20:16

bummer, your last two won't let me in, tracey, but the first one is nice, certainly. i think i just need to go into town BY MYSELF and spend an afternoon trying stuff on and not slitting my wrists. i've just felt utterly confined to marks and sparks since dd2 born.
