Someone please take advantage of this obvious misprint on the Office website.

I checked and it does stay at £40 when you add it to your basket. No idea whether it will get all the way through the process, but it is worth a try. I have a pair already, so it is no use for me.

oh yes you're right!
but I took a screen shot yesterday of the page showing £40

waves evidence

but seeing as I didnt actually buy them off Office I wont be needing it, but if anyone can be bothered fighting them if need be, let me know and I can send it

mustrunmore · 09/09/2009 09:27

missmelly, what forethought
I've got an invoice that says £40, and my ups link says 'intransit'.. safe, do you think?

LetThemEatCake · 09/09/2009 09:31

Has anyone actually received their boots?

flowerybeanbag · 09/09/2009 09:37

My confirmation email says dark brown leather. The link they provided in the email to the boots shows black leather, but both black and brown are in stock in my size at the moment, although they've amended the price.

I spoke to DH, he agrees their terms and conditions are not very robust at all. It does say they have the right to refuse any order, but they have gone ahead and confirmed the order so it's too late to do that. There are no caveats on the confirmation saying (for example) that it's an automated email and they can still refuse the order, or anything sensible like that.

Their big mistake is showing them back in stock, because really the main get-out they've got is the confirmation email not guaranteeing stock availability.

DH thinks I should phone or email them to ask when they will arrive but I don't know about that... The confirmation email says they will be delivered (with no caveats) within 3-7 working days and it's nowhere near that yet so I'm wary of chasing.

I do think they are obliged to fulfil the order and I certainly think it would be sensible of them to do so, even if they end up making a loss. If they fulfil the order without fuss, I will shop there again as will everyone here I expect. By messing people about they will get hassle in terms of challenges and will probably lose everyone on this thread as a customer as well as potentially hundreds of others reading this.

missmelly · 09/09/2009 09:42

I think though, that the £40 ones were slightly different, hence being called RUG LTH, which joliejolie suggested might be Rugged leather. So they could say they're out of that particular style of boot and the normal black or brown ones are different

I cant wait for the first person to say that there's have arrived hopefully mustrunmore's will arrive shortly, it sounds promising

HelenaBonhamCarter · 09/09/2009 09:44

I think it was OK to take the chance on the typo, but once they have rectified their mistake I don't think they ought to be bombarded with angry emails.

Karma, ladies, karma...

and it's usual to have a clause in the T&C saying they have the right to refuse orders until they have taken your money.

It's a shame we can't all get them for 40 quid but then someone would lose out if we did...iyswim.

joliejolie · 09/09/2009 09:55

I do agree Helena.

Didn't someone say that there were offering her 20% as a gesture of goodwill?
As they really didn't have to accept the orders, that is something.....small I'll admit, but something.

Office are notorious for their slow shipping, so anyone who has gotten a dispatch note shouldn't be too worried.

Well, no boots yet but they have taken £43.50 from my bank account. That equals a contract doesn't it? God, I bet I don't even like them now. But, principles, principles.

stillfrazzled · 09/09/2009 10:40

Helena, I'm not sure I agree. They're not a charity, and if they offer something at a certain price the law says they must honour it.

Also, rectifying a mistake is one thing, covering their tracks surely another.

I have had a look online, and nowhere can I find anyone offering Mols in dark brown and dark brown rug. I think this is a sneaky way to make out identical products are in fact different.

Mind you, I am embittered and bootless so I would think that, wouldn't I?

Pheonixnights · 09/09/2009 10:44

I have my boots!!!!! Hooray they are lovely! I want colder weather now so I can wear them!

missmelly · 09/09/2009 10:50

yay!! that's excellent

what size were yours just out of interest?

Pheonixnights · 09/09/2009 10:51

Size 6.

joliejolie · 09/09/2009 11:14

Not true stillfrazzled I think they are different leathers.
these are £99 and these are £124.

norksinmywaistband · 09/09/2009 11:15

Got my boots!!!! thanks jolie for the heads up on this

They are fab, definitely a size six fit, but as others have said slim in the calf but not too tight iykwim

stanausauruswrecks · 09/09/2009 11:16

I have just spoken to a very nice lady at Office as I haven't recieved a confirmation email, just an auto confirm from Amazon.
She told me that I would get an email once they have been dispatched, but that they haven't been allocated yet. (due to be dispatched tomorrow or friday, according to Amazon email) So it sounds like they are going to honour the order!!

flowerybeanbag · 09/09/2009 11:17

Stanusaurus I'm a bit confused. Amazon? What have they got to do with it?

missmelly · 09/09/2009 11:24

amazon also had the same deal, but only for size 8's. It's now been removed as well. I suspect the amazon pages feed directly off the Office website

flowerybeanbag · 09/09/2009 11:28

Ah I see...

MorningMorgantown · 09/09/2009 12:04

Mine just arrived! They fit! They're lovely!

Thank you so much to jolie for posting this.

mustrunmore · 09/09/2009 12:38

Mine just came too! they are fantastic. And they fit, so sorry to all you hopefuls hanging on for a size 6!

millenniumfalcon · 09/09/2009 12:52

i'm a little about some of the outrage on here tbh. look, we were lucky - lucky to be on mn at the right time, lucky to read this thread, lucky to have £40 to spend on boots on a whim. and then some of us were unlucky that they didn't have as many in stock as their system thought. fwiw i don't think it was a mistake on their part, maybe it was last year's style that they were selling off?

i got the offer or 20% off my next order (only on the phone and not valid on sale items or - i think - boots) which seems perfectly generous since i hadn't actually spent any money with them. picking through the t's & c's trying to wheedle a pair out of them when they don't have them strikes me as a bit, well, grasping.

joliejolie · 09/09/2009 13:20

Well, going by that theory MF, I think people are right to be upset.

But I don't think FLY ever go that low, even in the sale.
If they were last years style (which I am not sure they were as office clearly mark their sale items with a "now £" price in red) then why on earth would they oversell so badly when the items weren't in stock?
And how can it be grasping to want the boots if the were allowed to place orders? BTW, I wasn't one who placed an order. I just came across this pair while looking for another pair on the site.

I think some people got a lucky bargain and I am excited for them. Some didn't and the 20% compensation sounds fair to me. Like I said, I can see why some are disappointed.

On a lighter note....I received my Ota biker boots today and the are absolutely fantastic!!! Perfect fit, look great...I am well pleased! Okay, they are not as comfortable as the Mol because the sole is different, but they are Zexy!!!

OP posts:
joliejolie · 09/09/2009 13:23

And I also wanted to add that luck doesn't have much to do with being able to afford new boots....working 35 hours a week from home with no holidays does!
I can see your point, but noone wanted a soapbox...they just wanted their boots.

OP posts:
stillfrazzled · 09/09/2009 13:32

Thanks jolie, was about to post to say that I thought being labelled 'grasping' was a bit OTT.

Basically if they'd just run out I would bewail my bad luck but still be quite pleased that some MNers had nice boots.

It's the cruddy service (being told I would get them, strung along for several days with no comms) and then the slightly dodgy messing about (changing links etc) that makes me cross.

That's cross, not outraged or grasping.

stillfrazzled · 09/09/2009 13:36

Oh, and jolie, those boots are gorgeous. I may have to start saving up for those, that's more what I originally wanted before I was distracted by Mols...
