I don't really have a feel for this whole school run dress thing. But I do like this

Quattrocento · 16/03/2009 20:10

So what is a school run dress? Explain it to me. It's obviously not an item of uniform. Is it to be competitive with other mummies on the school run? Does one wear it then go home and change? Or does it get worn all day. If so wouldn't you look a bit silly in meetings etc?

janeite · 16/03/2009 20:11

Ronald - I really like both of those M&S ones. The poppins one is quite short irl, very thin fabric and unlined and seems to be sold out everywhere. The paisley one is lovely irl but is polyester so could be potentially quite sweaty!

MrsMattie · 16/03/2009 20:14

That's lovely@Pollyanna

Jesus, that silver Per Una one is a shocker@La Trucha!

pointydog · 16/03/2009 20:15

I asked once, quatt. It was a shorthand term just for a casual dress that you would happily wear during the day for no reason in particular. I think.

Pollyanna · 16/03/2009 20:16

I have been complimented loads in mine (mostly asking if i have lost weight - I haven't) and it is very easy to wear.

I also picked up a couple of dresses from Ghost - perfect for school run, but more summery imo.

janeite · 16/03/2009 20:17

I wish M&S had a search filter that allowed you to look at everything EXCEPT Per Una - those dresses are beyond vile.

SilentTerror · 16/03/2009 20:21

Right Pollyanna,I am having one!
Off to White Stuff website....

hereidrawtheline · 16/03/2009 20:25

Ronaldinhio I like that 2nd one a lot but its just in a size 6!

hereidrawtheline · 16/03/2009 20:29

I like the M&S one Full Bloom

LaTrucha · 16/03/2009 20:38

I have thought of running a competition on here to see if anyone could find something nice in Per Una, but I thought it would be unnecessarily offensive to some. I think it is almost impossible to find a piece of clothing I find inoffensive there.

hereidrawtheline · 16/03/2009 20:42

what do you think of one and what would you pair it with? Could I pair it with 3/4 length leggings?

tattycoram · 16/03/2009 20:50

I love Mrs Maidamess's dress in navy - here

Per Una goes from worse to worst doesn't it

Awful

MrsMattie · 16/03/2009 20:55

Pollyanna you shouldn't have mentioned Ghost!

Just ordered this ...and had to close the website before I impulse purchased about 3 more dresses.

Arghhh! My credit card is taking a hammering tonight. And I bet it rains for months and I am back in Uggs and jeans

JeanPoole · 16/03/2009 21:00

here this is lovely.

mrs m do you like this?

OP posts:
JeanPoole · 16/03/2009 21:04

bit too posh maybe

OP posts:
MrsMattie · 16/03/2009 21:28

Gorgeous! But too posh for daywear.

newgirl · 16/03/2009 21:40

mrsmattie and jeanpoole - do you like the obi dress on ghost site? day dress for special occasion. Not sure on sizes with ghost - im usually a 12

weepootle · 16/03/2009 21:43

I've ordered this, bit of a wait for it though.

JustCallMeGoat · 16/03/2009 22:01

some of these dresses are making my eyes bleed. it is like samantha from sex in the city is reduced to wearing left over fabric from a 1970's caravan upholstery company.

loggedout · 16/03/2009 22:13

I'm a teeny bit jealous here - if I wore any of these I would
a) get stung by nettles on the way to school
b) get gawped at by the yokels here
c) have to wear wellies with it - NOT a good look.

Ronaldinhio · 16/03/2009 22:21

think the model on the ghost website looks all wrong

HedKandi · 16/03/2009 22:29

some of those dresses linked are over £60

i shall feel like a tramp at the school gates

loggedout · 16/03/2009 22:45

I'm feeling too poor for this thread....

Pollyanna · 17/03/2009 10:19

aah, but my dress was only £35 [and i got 15% off] [defensive emoticon]
