have you lot sorted them yet?

OP posts:
LaTrucha · 19/03/2009 20:47

What did you buy?

AnyFucker · 19/03/2009 21:47

kickass, that is the business !!

now why would you not wear that?

my quintessential school run dress is a FatFace one, cannot link cos is from a couple of seasons ago, but boy it is fab and each wear must have cost about 0.1 pence !!

duckyfuzz · 20/03/2009 11:36

my ghost dress has just arrived and is beautifully packaged, so much so that I can't quite bring myself to open it! I also have a streaming cold and look most unattractive, so can't really be bothered trying it on yet, will savour the moment later

tattycoram · 20/03/2009 11:41

Do report back Ducky - have nearly ordered it about five times since hovering on this thread!

BarefootShirl · 20/03/2009 12:11

My school run outfit is whatever I happen to be wearing at the time - not interested in the "scrummy mummy competition" - not that I'd win it anyway

Only trouble is, this approach is probably why I sometimes get the odd "look" at the gates - but am I bovvered?

kickassangel · 20/03/2009 17:30

well a) i don't do a school run cos we live in the us, and dd gets a big yellow bus.
b) i am a trouser person, and i really hate faffing around changing clothes, so unless it's really warm, would be wearing trousers & top anyway
c) at dd's old school in the uk, there were only 5 mums who didn't turn up in anything except doing the garden scruff. they stood together, refused to take part in any acitivities, class presents etc, and occasionally spoke to one of the rest of us, to see if we would be their cleaner.

actually, most of the time i was a teacher, so turned up in my work clothes - a pair of trousers & a top.

Podrick · 20/03/2009 18:34

fAT fAce offering?

SenorToucan · 20/03/2009 18:35

nope

empire line
ans thin straps

MrsMattie · 20/03/2009 18:39

What is this whole anti-taking-some-sort-of-pride-in-your-appearance thing that jeeps rearing it's head on this thread? Is it supposed to be something to be proud of to dress like a tramp once you have kids and shun nice dresses?

I've spent the whole winter in jeans and boots and big baggy jumpers and I feel like I've been pregnant for the past 5 years, too!. I want to look good, dammit!

MrsMattie · 20/03/2009 18:39

excuse poor grammar

Podrick · 20/03/2009 18:50

Err I think the no empire line no thin straps is a rule which big norkers may choose to apply to themselves but hardly a universal rule!

School run dresses for all I say!

MrsMattie · 20/03/2009 18:54

Empire line/spaghetti straps looks great on slimmies. I used to rock that style when I was a size 10 . Now I would just look like a great big sausage woman.

littlelamb · 20/03/2009 19:03

Can I throw this into the mix? Apparently breaking the rules, but I am huuuuuge of nork and I wore this around London yesterday with a longish cardi and I do think it will see me through the summer. It is beautiful in the flesh

Podrick · 20/03/2009 19:07

Well I think empire line is good on anyone whose narrowest part is beneath the boobs rather than the waist!

Spag straps are not a deal breaker if you plan on wearing a cropped cardi layered on top.

Littlelamb well done for breakling the rules gogeously

MorocconOil · 20/03/2009 19:15

Podrick- I've just bought that Fat Face dress today to wear to my friend's wedding. It's really lovely. Too good for the school run.

AnyFucker · 20/03/2009 19:33

this is good

tattycoram · 20/03/2009 20:59

I like that one Podrick. I like this too but I think the ties on the back might look a bit funny

duckyfuzz · 20/03/2009 21:13

I have now tried on the ghost dress (black) and it is fabulous, the best fitting most flattering dress ever - dh is so impressed by it he has demanded I order another, so I have a spare

It's sold out in my size now. Bugger it.

tattycoram · 21/03/2009 07:20

Ooh it's back in. Have ordered it

Pollyanna · 21/03/2009 09:08

duckyfuzz, I have that dress in 2 colours - can't wait for it to be summer!

BarefootShirl · 21/03/2009 10:31

Ghost dress looks gorgeous - ideal for summer and quick to slip on for the scool run - just going to get the credit card out

bronze · 21/03/2009 10:48

I quite like this but I'm doomed to fail. Being tall none of the normal dresses fit me. They hang wrong and are too short. I have to stick to skirts and tops. If I can be arsed to shave my legs that is

MrsMattie · 21/03/2009 10:52

Nice@bronze. How tall are you? I'm half an inch under 6 feet. All the dresses I have bought recently (White Stuff, Great Plains, Ghost) fit OK. Steer completely clear of Marks and sodding Spencer, though. Incapable of making anything to fit anyone over 5'6 .

Have you tried Long Tall Sally? haven't looked at their Spring stuff yet. Their winter stuff was quite nice, although not cheap.
