Hello everyone, old and new.

This is about feeling better about yourself and looking and feeling better etc. But mainly we chat and laugh quite a lot, which has all got to help towards happiness etc.

The rules (anyone can join):

  • Sunscreen at all times
  • No or little booze. Wine or Champagne or whatever at the weekend is allowed if you want it
  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day
  • Apply body cream as often as possible
  • Use hand cream
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos
  • Eat healthily
  • Be happy

The idea is that we all feel happier, healthier and glow with the good food, sleep, exercise, water and lack of sun damage.

Some people are doing India and Neris's Idiot Proof Diet (Atkins, more or less), others are doing Slimy World, others are just being as healthy as possible.

Welcome everyone, have a good week.

marina, not sure I have your email on webmail (dh killed the PC).

I have had a day in central London with the kids. I always THINK we will have great fun and then end up doing half of what we planned and wondering why. And the children insisted they were warm enough and they weren't and then it rained . At least we live close enough that we can pop in all the time rather than it having to all be done in a day (thank goodness).

We ended up having ice cream for lunch, cake at about 3 and pizza at 7. I am looking at my (many layered) muffin top and thinking, yup that's why it's there.

saggars, dd did well and I'm glad Blu boy is improving.

oh and of course, sodding south west trains chose today to have a broken rail at wimbledon . Bring forward the day when we can all teleport ourselves around (oh and MAJOR disappointment in the fox household about David Tennant's departure!)

This thread is a haven amongst all the MN/RL madness

ureb - had forgotten you were going away for a few days. I thought you'd gone undercover or something and was becoming concerned.

After my goodish bootcamp last week, I'm having a crap one this week. Have drunk (although with permission , have only exercised a little [dodgy knee again] have done no lotions/potions and feel proper bloated due to gorging at the fridge [mini chocolate covered donuts anyone?]. There was a time when stress prevented me from eating - I think that was healthier than this

Saggarmakersbottomknocker · 31/10/2008 09:10

@ hot weather.

TheWickerCam · 31/10/2008 09:16

I feel like getting on a plane to Aus right now arfishy

Having gone to SA for Christmas 2007 and New Year 2008 I am dreading this winter with no sun. None of us got even one little sniffle last winter due to the massive injection of sun.

I will gloss over the b/fast croissant ( at least no butter or jam with it)

Have moisturised well after shower this am and will be doing half an hour of stomach crunches and floor exercises later. When I'm fit I normally do 1.5 hours of exercise per day but am building up again.

Love and peace to fellow Bootcampers

yoyo · 31/10/2008 10:03

So the half term is almost over and I have been awful. First week was much as usual as DH was away but since he has been back I have had absolutely no energy. Feel as though I have wasted precious time off and now head towards the cold, dark nights of the next half term. I have done no exercise, eaten all sorts of crap (favourite being pretzel and peanut butter bar dripping in chocolate), skin looks awful, couldn't face hairdresser as have no idea what to get done so that looks a fright too - oh dear, I so need to sort myself out.

WWW - agree with others about tiredness and suspect my current appalling lethargy and desire to spend day curled up in front of fire with three swaeters, a blanket and very warm socks is because I go hell for leather for weeks on end and then slump. Hopefully you will bounce back soon.

Saggars - glad the appointment went fairly well. Retail therapy and wine sound excellent.

FIS - days in London with DC are always a bit hit-and-miss with ours. There is always one who doesn't want to do something I find so much time is spent stomping around and not getting half as much done as planned. Our trip was rescued by the British Museum last week and lunch in Bodeans.

Mavis - delighted that scan went well. For some inexplicable reason am feeling rather broody just now and felt quite emotional thinking back to the scans I had with my three. Must snap out of this PDQ.

Marina - meet up would be good. Please CAT me.

Ah well. Need to do something with the children and resist temptation to cuddle up on the sofa with them. Enjoy the weekend everyone.

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 01/11/2008 13:37

www - nevermind, enjoy the rest, 7 school weeks to Christmas.

hello soapbox

cm - eat what you like during pregnancy, it's the only way. I did look good immediately post-baby but things have gone downhill since .

mavis - I pull the necks, it's the only legal way for DIY birds in the UK. Though the current cockerels are huge and hard work (sorry!), so I may do a poultry slaughtermans course with a vet - which sounds very bloodthirsty, but is in fact quite the opposite, as I'd then be allowed to use a stunner.

Anyway, moving on. Not a bad bootcamp week. Lots of walking with the DCs. Quite good food despite it being half-term. Keeping up with the moisturising except on feet. My water consumption is slacking off, probably because of the weather and my lack of running. Still eating a shocking amount of raw carrots though.

Cammelia · 01/11/2008 18:09

Duchess you're reminding of my maternal grandparents who were poultry farmers. My g/father loved wringing necks and making us gasp at headless chickens running around

Saggarmakersbottomknocker · 01/11/2008 19:55

There are worst ways to go I'm sure. Do you talk soothingly to them Norks?

I'm biting my nails here - ds2 has gone out to a gig, on his own, for the first time since his assault. And dd has gone to a bonfire party. dh is on nights. I'm all aloooooooooooooone!

Cammelia · 01/11/2008 19:58

Oh its perfectly humane. I'm just at my g/father finding it funny to freak out little children

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 01/11/2008 20:19

indeed at Cams grandfather - you'd get counselling for that sort of thing these days!

saggars - yes, the deed is done in a calm manner, usually at night so as not to disturb the others. Is there any chance at all that you can enjoy a peaceful evening without worry? I guess not! I'd be biting my nails too. Have a glass of wine!

We have not one, but two (count 'em!), fires blazing. I have been comfort reading To Kill A Mocking Bird and have around 3 chapters to go, so that's me for the evening.

Oh yes, the confessional. Two sausages, heap of homemade coleslaw, crisps, slice of pizza, 2 small doughnuts. But hey, it was our Pumpkin Carving evening and I had 8 kids and 5 adults to feed in a very short space of time!

Cammelia · 01/11/2008 20:52

Oh sorry got waylaid by the chickens.....1 hr aerobics today, my muscles feel nicely stretched out.

Had to go to a school thing this morning to learn how to revise help our children revise. Luckily have been doing all the right things.

Eating was sensible, ie normal food but restricted portions and no snacking in between meals.

Has been raining and almost dark all day.

Hope everyone is ok and its just quiet because you are all still on half-term

eemie · 02/11/2008 11:38

Ok, guests have just left, house quiet, have started cleaning.

Not been good over half term - have drunk wine ++ & had chocolate & other stuff I wouldn't normally eat, BUT have not gained weight so am renewing my vows today.

Better go and slap on some sunscreen. Can actually see some sun this morning.

Dreamed dd (10) had turned into stroppy teenager and I was rowing with her. Think I was transferring angst about puppy. She is coming to puppy bootcamp this afternoon.

Onward and upward

ClaudiaSchiffer · 02/11/2008 20:57

Hello all

Good weekend Bootcamp wise. Good, healthy food, drank my juices - now down to 1 a day. Had a lovely walk with the dawg on Saturday. Had 17 people over for lunch on Sunday (SEVENTEEN!!!) managed to feed the hoards with huge lasagnas and salad (and wine). I am thoroughly moisturised but forgot my sunscreen on Saturday which resulted in slightly burnt shoulders in the gorgeous 27 degree spring sunshine.

Sadly, emotionally, all is misery in the Schiffer household. It appears that I have married a total a*se. Who knew? I'm really fed up, H is really angry and unhappy. What to do?

ClaudiaSchiffer · 02/11/2008 21:19

Oh, Duchess I looked at your profile and am your school run is lovely. What a wonderful place for your dc - and you of course. I used to live in Brighton and loved the Sussex downland countryside. Beautiful.

Hope everyone else had a top weekend.

eemie · 03/11/2008 20:16

Jollypirate and Blackduck, how are you getting on/enjoying thread?

MavisGrind · 03/11/2008 20:37

Hello all, just checking in although I should be hanging my head in shame for all the decidedly non bootcamp food that has been consumed over the weekend.... Have just had a drink of water though so that's alright, isn't it.

Saggars - how is ds after the gig? How are you?!

Claudia - you have my deepest sympathies re dh, I too know of arses masquerading as husbands. At least the weather is nice where you are (whereabouts are you btw, I've been meaning to ask).

Had a lovely weekend with our guests and I've suddenly 'gone pregnant' and developed a huge bump. I think it may be crips and chocolate based.

Oh, and bought some Soap and Glory handcream this morning. Will report back on results in a day or two.

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 03/11/2008 21:41

Where's WWW got to?

saggars - did DS & DD both have a fabulous time whilst you chewed your fingers off?

DS2 has started to sleep through again so I've been getting a bit more sleep. His 4th tooth has just come through.

DD2 went back to pre-sch today so I ran a mile on the way home. It was slow and crap and gave me a raw cough and now my joints hurt. Pah!

Food OK, water OK, moisturiser OK, feet 'orrible.

The school run proper, starts again tomorrow.

ClaudiaSchiffer · 04/11/2008 01:28

Hello Mavis, we are in Adelaide, capital of South Australia - well actually just outside Adelaide up in the hills about 20 mins drive from the CBD. All very beautiful, I look out of my window over great reaches of Euclyptus forest. Can't see any other houses (unless I crane my neck round to gaze at the neighbours) the garden is full of parrots, Koalas, Echidnas and probably snakes (eeek). Tis rather lovely here, particularly on a day like today - cool fresh air but warm sunshine out of a totally blue sky. Spitting with jealousy yet?

In the spirit of never being happy, I have just spent this rather lovely spring morning moaning to another expat Brit friend about wanting to go home. We were both getting all nostalgic about November gloom and sleet. All rather hard to imagine in this dazzling sunshine. Aren't we fools.

But hurrah hurrah dear old mum and dad are coming to stay for a month, arriving a week on Friday. Bliss for DDs and me, horrors for DH.

Ha.

Blackduck · 04/11/2008 08:32

Enjoying thread - just not got a lot of time, now back at work. This is pretty hellish......

Doing okay on eating, rubbish at water. Had a drink at the weekend (two Halloween parties) - but not excessive...

Just trying to decide if the money this contact is paying is worth the hassle....

Marina · 04/11/2008 09:29

Morning all!
Have been quiet mainly due to being bad Camm but have mostly managed power-walking and water fine at least
at Adelaide Claudia but not at husband-arse resemblance
and good luck at puppy bootcamp eemie
Am due to return to SlimyWorld tomorrow to be formally reprimanded and have my weight written in scarlet on a placard round my neck

LoveAndSqualor · 04/11/2008 11:37

Dashing through, waving hello ... am in final pre-moving week, plus have a bunch of reviews to write and - oh yes! - a crotchety DS to attend to, all a little manic here. Bootcamp has slightly fallen by the wayside as a result, though have kept booze to a minimum [miracle] and walked lots and been body brushing in a slightly hysterical fashion. Have been eating crap, however, and loads of it. This is likely to get worse when I move to my sister's as her fridge is always chock full of goodies (whereas mine and exDP's generally tends to contain half a cabbage, half a lemon, capers, milk and various condiments).

Duchess at DS2's fourth tooth! DS is only on two and is, I think, a couple of months older, yes? The fuss he's made about these two would seem to me to be enough for a mouthful of gnashers, however . Great news that he's sleeping through again. DS made it through to 5.55 this morning; bliss. Am now steeling myself to drop his 11pm feed so I can go to bed myself at 9 .

Marina, rofl at the Scarlet Weight.

Must make DS's lunch, back later ...
