Hello everyone, old and new.

This is about feeling better about yourself and looking and feeling better etc. But mainly we chat and laugh quite a lot, which has all got to help towards happiness etc.

The rules (anyone can join):

  • Sunscreen at all times - REALLY mean this now summer is here.

  • No or little booze. Wine or Champagne or whatever at the weekend is allowed if you want it

  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can

  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day

  • Apply body cream as often as possible

  • Use hand cream

  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos

  • Eat healthily

  • Be happy

The idea is that we all feel happier, healthier and glow with the good food, sleep, exercise, water and lack of sun damage.

Some people are doing India and Neris's Idiot Proof Diet (Atkins, more or less), others are doing Slimy World, others are just being as healthy as possible.

Welcome everyone, have a good week.
Apologies for belated new thread.

helloo, www hope you and family are all better.

I am very at all these lovely sounding holidays and plans (counts down days till leave).

I went to family planning on Monday. Got there at 7.45 from work. Got seen at 9pm grrrr and then had to wait as a doctor had to sign the script for the pill and she had a wailing woman in there with her (I know, I should be more sympathetic, but I couldn't muster up an ounze of it at the time ). Got home at 9.30ish and was VERY grumbly. Didn't get stomach stuff because it was so late and I didn't get a chance so I'll have to make another appointment in about 2 years time.

Have had
apple
grapes
chicken salad sandwich
8 cups of tea
ribena
ham pizza (had to pick off the pineapple eww)
a packet of M&S scary dinosaurs which are now making me feel v v ill

only 3 more working days till the weekend and this weekend WE MAY SEE SUN (shhhh, don't say it too loudly).

Sobernow - you are brave persisting with Bonekicker!

Hello all,

WWW d&v must account for weight loss, I had winter vomiting bug last year and dropped about 3 pounds. I discovered my inner shallowness and was rather pleased

Just dropping through really. DS finally slept through all night last night so not feeling quite as dead as I have done. However my restless leg syndrome (how glamorous) has started it's new intense pregnancy phase so I still had a crap night's sleep (as did dh). Trying to work in the library today but as duffness means I won't be able to complete my diploma I'm finding it very hard to get motivated.

Hope everyone is enjoying their week. Will go and catch up on the thread properly and finish my essay.

Morning all, I am STILL not right, sob. I feel fine in myself but let's just say that eating yesterday was probably a mistake. My lovely boss has agreed I can mumsnet all day work from home though so that's good.

So today:
nothing
nada
zilch

but lots of water
maybe a drs appt
pos immodium tomorrow am as I HAVE to go into the office tomorrow

MG, sory to hear of restless leg, and if you're not going to do it can't you just stop working for it now?

Oi, so are you saying you didn't get your stomach thing looked at? Will you go again for it do you think? Did you mention it? (ignore me if I sound like your mother!)

Ah at Cam's and Sobernow's dds, how lovely!

Feetheart, are you still feeling motivated?

I used body lotion all over AND Flexitol yesterday. And sunscreen. But still lax on the handcream front, must improve on that.

On the VERY bright side, just weighed myself and I've lost another 4lbs. That's since I last weighed myself, which was about a month ago but encompasses the weekend of indulgence away (and the d&v mind you) so I'm happy. That's a total of 1 stone and 8lbs since 5th May. And it's hugely motivating me to keep going and stick to India and Neris (well, when I eat again).

Hello all,

Wow WWW - that is fab (the weight loss, not the d&v, natch).

Sometimes I am freaked out by how parallel our lives are (I too have d&v along with dd and ds). But actually, how very very different they are as well (retire to bed early with dh and wine . I can't remember the last time I did that - or if we have ever done that!).

I'm wrecked with tiredness mostly from mine and everyone else's illness and demands atm.

I have a much overdue haircut and colour booked tomorrow but am v worried as hairdressers messed up my appointment but, for once, I was insistent on them rearranging for me and not vice versa (I am usually the apologetic and compliant one). But now I fear I will get a 'revenge' hair style.

But yes d&c has managed to rid me of a couple of pounds, although it is my birthday on Saturday so, no doubt, I will make up for it. Might as well as dh will no doubt put his usual 'effort' in (shopping madly on the morning for pressie, but not thinking through food etc which I will no doubt have to sort out myself. I dont' expect big expensive presents, just a bit of thoughtfulness and not having to do everything myself yet again).

Yes I am feeling very sorry for myself so shall slink out now....

Hello

Moonshine, I know: the weight loss and the opaque tights and not liking the sun, and now the d&v, (sympathy on that, not pleasant is it?) Can thoroughly recommend early night/dh/Cava combo, it was the brightest spot in the last 5 days...which is how long I've had this thing. I really do need to go and get imodium from the shop in a minute, I am BORED of this now! But Moonshine at least my children either don't have it (dd) or aren't here (ds although he rang to say he's better today so that's good) so I do sympathise with looking after other people while you're not well yourself.

Maybe the hairdresser will do this to you?

Batters, sorry dd's not sleeping well and sorry this week is stressful. Is it making you decide not to go ft?

Bundle, what, your children are away and you're not out every night? Glad trousers are nice.

WWW - maybe I should print out the picture and take it with me - it could be the best offer I get . I also seem to remember (in a stalkerish way) that you are also 42 pretty soon?? And we both shop at La Redoute [trill]. Aaah but you have a high power career and a very energetic life [paths divide widely again....)

Batters - good luck on your walk - I would love to do something like that and will make it my aim in the medium future when family commitments allow (just realised your post before said 35k and not 3,500 steps ). Are you worried about feeling sleepy or the dark in general [really not very clever emoticon]?

Bundle - I am a creature of simple pleasures as well - I could happily just lounge for hours.

Omg I have just gone into the garden for less than a minute and am now sweating like the proverbial pig - will have to grit my teeth through this spell of weather but at least I have a day off today.

Ever, ever so belatedly - good morning evening, campers!

Sorry I haven't been on - after thursday's discussion with DP, the computer decided to keel over, either in sympathy or because it decided it wasn't getting enough attention, not sure which. So have been deprived of MN since then

Thank you all so much for kind wishes - very grateful. The short version of events (believe me, there is a loooooong one) is that we cleared the air, and said all the stuff, which was a huge relief, though now we have to actually think what to do next. Bottom line for both of us, it seems, is that DS came along at a spectacularly bad moment, and neither of us are really sure that we're in love any more . Obv because DS is here we're going to put lots of effort into finding out, but I don't think either of us is prepared to stay in a relationship that isn't working. Hmmmn. So all a bit medium, frankly, but so good to have it all out on the table. I really want things to move on, one way or the other. Limbo no fun at all.

Phew. So - the plus side is that I've been fairly bootcamptastic as a result - much walking, healthy eating, sun-screening (esp today). And so forth. Biggest triumph is the feet which are, if I say so myself, a picture. The rest of me may be holding fairly steady, age-wise, but I have the feet of a newborn babe .

Have skimmed thread, going back now to read properly. WWW, sorry to hear about the Bug of Doom (though congrats on excellent weight loss). Duchess, yum to jam, and marina, what's your MIL's teeny-weeny me schtick? Intriguing ... explique, s'il vous plait ...

Hello all

Am not doing very well on the bootcamp front I am afraid this week. Had a rotten cold and today not even left the house. DDs being delightful, DH a star but still feeling wobbly. It's the hormones.

WWW, so sorry to hear you've been poorly, but good news on the weight loss. I always look on it as a bonus for the D and V horrors. Your overall weightloss since May is also very impressive. Glad you are on the mend.

Batters - your walk sounds fab. I did the moonwalk about 5 years ago and that was overnight. TBH the adrenaline keeps you going for the first bit, then I had a slump between about 3 nd 4, when it started to get light and a lovely friend came on his bike and walked some of the way with us. He was our pacemaker until about 6, by which time the end was in sight and the sun came up. I managed to raise loads of money for breakthrough and my weight went right down as well. I've wanted to do it again but I've either been about 6 weeks post partum or not got in on the ballot. Are you doing it with friends? Your moron score is always most impressive so I suspect you'll breeze it.

Lucky you, Bundle, having a child free spell and new trousers. I love Monsoon sales, really good bargains there. Only tents would fit me at the moment, though, so I'm steering clear for a bit.

Bama / Mavis, CONGRATULATIONS on your wonderful news. When is the baby due? I'm sorry about the sickness, I found tonic water good, plus bodyweight in mints and keeping something in your tummy at all times. I ate lots of bread, crackers, apples at bad points (in very small doses) and that made me feel better. So exciting, another baby. Well done to you and DH!

Moonshine, I sweated so much earlier on I thought I was menopausal! I can do heat but not humidity. And my hair is just disastrous in this weather. Hope you like your new cut.

Cam, I've noticed that if I make a conscious effort not to get in the car, it really shows in the clothes. Swimming also makes me feel fab - do you do lanes? Where do you swim (sorry, can't remember if you are one of the London crowd. I know many of the pools in S London very well).

Marina - wedding sounds lovely, is there photographic evidence of the hat?

Duchess - jam sounds fab, very domestic goddess. Can't wait for Sept 1st and my chutney pan to come out. Never tried jam, but if I see some cheapish fruit, I may give it a whirl.

Hello everyone else, hope all are well.

Children still awake, though they are so knackered they're fighting it. I'm fighting the urge to go downstairs and attack the jamon which DH bought from Brindisa today as a reward for clearing the spare room. A pint of sherry would be an excellent accompaniment, but sadly not possible in my condition. Perhaps a thimbleful would be OK

X posts L and S. So sorry things are not great, but good news surely to have things out in the open so you can give it your best shot. I'll be thinking of you over the coming weeks and hoping you manage to sort things out. Never an easy situation but all power to you and DP for having the honest (and, I'm sure, very difficult) conversation. Take care.

Chutneymary, sorry you are feeling grim as well. Hope you enjoyed your thimbleful of sherry. When is your baby due?

L&S, that sounds good, at least you both said all the stuff you needed to say, it must have been hanging over both of you, not discussing it. I hope this is the start of a resolution of some kind. Fwiw, exdh was a fling but I did love him and then I got pregnant and so we tried to make a go of it but ultimately he wasn't the right man for me and so we split up when ds was 2. We really wouldn't even have limped along for that long had it not been for ds, who obviously neither of us remotely regrets. I'm now 8, nearly 9 years on from that as ds is 11 in October and our divorce is amicable plus I am remarried very happily and dh#2 and I have dd, who is 4.5. Sympathy, I do know it's not easy.

Batters, sympathy on the 15 clothes discussions. Had stand off with dd this morning where she said she wanted breakfast and I reminded her that the rule is that she gets dressed first. "But I'm desperate" she said, which although impressive didn't sway me. Dh dealt with it in the end as he was taking her to nursery.

Moonshine, yes, am 42 in October and yes, have just started shopping at La Redoute although am crap at shopping so have 3 dresses that are a) identical and b) won't look ok unless I lose another 2 stone!

Bundle, are you going somewhere exciting and glam tonight? Tell us!

Feetheart, are you still on the wagon? How's it going?

Last night ate 3 more sausages which was a mistake, obviously, and drooled as dh ate pizza (which I haven't had for MONTHS and is the one thing I really miss on I&N, well, that and garlic bread) and drank a glass of Chianti. But I resisted on both counts

Went to dr this am who said (as I thought) that there's nothing I can do other than eat v little, drink lots of water and wait for it to end. She offered to send a sample off but we both agreed that all that happens is that the lab tells you what you had and by that time it's all over and there's no point in knowing really. So I'm glad to have been saved from collecting poo in a stupid little pot!

Lovely boss has said I can work form home again so I am v pleased, as I don't get paid if I don't work.

Thimble of sherry was excellent, thank you WWW. The baby is due 10th Dec, but as I am too posh to push i'll have a CS about a week earlier. I think cold is now turning into a chest infection. Am coughing a lot but if i get ABs then the baby's teeth will be shot. I'll just have to hang on unless / until it gets really bad.

How are you today L &S?

Am meeting a fellow MN in the park for a picnic today. Do you think I can take a knife for my fruit or will I get done for going equipped? Am meeting some women from my AN thread tomorrow - should be very interesting to put faces to names.

Oh WWW, do you think probiotics would help? I am a bit sceptical usually but if you have had the trots for nearly a week, your poor gut might need a bit of TLC. Just a thought.
