Hello everyone, old and new.

This is about feeling better about yourself and looking and feeling better etc. But mainly we chat and laugh quite a lot, which has all got to help towards happiness etc.

The rules (anyone can join):

  • Sunscreen at all times - REALLY mean this now summer is here.

  • No or little booze. Wine or Champagne or whatever at the weekend is allowed if you want it

  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can

  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day

  • Apply body cream as often as possible

  • Use hand cream

  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos

  • Eat healthily

  • Be happy

The idea is that we all feel happier, healthier and glow with the good food, sleep, exercise, water and lack of sun damage.

Some people are doing India and Neris's Idiot Proof Diet (Atkins, more or less), others are doing Slimy World, others are just being as healthy as possible.

Welcome everyone, have a good week.
Apologies for belated new thread.

Hi de hi campers
I lurched off the wagon yesterday too (some fab holiday reports being filed here, bon voyage saggars and welcome back batters and chutney)
Wedding was lovely
I doff my ludicrous hat to SIL, she went out of her way to accommodate the needs of the ten or so children aged 2-9 at the event. Goodie bags on their seats at the reception, which was held in a venue which is also a special boarding school and allowed the children the run of their superb playground
Whole day was very touching and happy and there was a good vibe (apart from MIL being on typical "teeny weeny me" form )
Linked up with usual sociable cousins, ds read beautifully in the church - got a round of applause - dd was a moderately well-behaved bridesmaid, bride and groom got the day they wanted and all their guests had a smashing time.
WWW, sorry to hear you have THAT bug. It is doing the rounds alas. One of ds' chums has to drag himself off his sickbed to check their vile teacher really did leave
Looking forward to hearing more about the holiday batters and chutney...and no news yet from L&S I see. Hope you're OK my dear

www - hope you and DS can shake off impending illness or at least it be short-lived.

marina - wedding sounds like a child-friendly triumph, I wish more people were that thoughtful. Can we see your hat? I want to know about 'teeny weeny me' too, it sounds like it might describe my own mother. at 'dragging self into to check that vile teacher has left' (as someone who had several vile teachers, I sincerely hope they have gone)!

I'm making egg, bacon, cheese & courgette muffins for second breakfast. The house smells divine. I should cook on a Sunday morning more often. Archie slept for 10 hours last night, had a feed at 7am and has been asleep upstairs with DH since. (Hence the morning cooking).

And the sun is out. So I'm happy!

WideWebWitch · 20/07/2008 20:15

Ah Marina, I'm glad the wedding was so lovely and hurrah for people who make child friendly efforts at weddings. It sounds like a lovely day.

DofN, those muffins sound delicious, as does your description of your morning, how lovely and 10 hours, wow!

Hope Saggars has fab time

Welcome back ChutneyMary!

I was so ill yesterday that I didn't eat (couldn't) so yesterday: 4 sausages, the last one cold at 9pm and not well advised, eww.

But after sleeping until 7.30am this morning I felt a lot better today and hence we all went to my mums and had a lovely time.

today
bacon and eggs, with some trepidation but was ok
2 sausages
burger
lettuce
tomato
onions, all ok on India and Neris, had no buns/hot dog rolls/sugary dressing BUT then my mum brought out Pecan pie and ice cream and I had some. Lovely it was too. Didn't drink as was driving back but drank lots of water and lolled in the garden, sans sunscreen, sadly as I forgot/didn't have it with me
Ds and I have a treat day for me and him just the two of us together tomorrow so we are starting at London acquarium and then doing whatever else we feel like in London. I will then drop hnm at ex MILS before coming home tomorrow night. Any ideas where to take him for lunch? He was just remembering that I took him to The Spy Glass restaurant which is a (non moving) boat on the river in Bristol and he said he'd like somewhere similar, but London, obv. Any ideas most welcome.

So, I really NEED to get back on the India and Neris train tomorrow as our weekend away plus today has not been v compliant.

And I have a glass of Cava next to me as I'm not working tomorrow and dh and I are considering taking the rest of the leftover bottle to bed for an early night.

I have to say I'm almost glad I was ill as it meant I stayed in bed all day yesterday and had hours and hours of sleep on Friday night, yesterday day time and last night and as a result feel v perky today. Ykwim I;m sure. Hope everyone has had a lovely weekend.

Hello sobernow! I'd like www's life and her appetite for it tbh, I don't know where she gets the energy I'll pass on the bra though
WWW, the only place I could think of was the Leven is Strijd in Docklands, but she's private parties only nowadays. The English Maid on Vauxhall Embankment is a bit pubby...
The Prospect of Whitby and the Mayflower, in Wapping and Rotherhithe respectively, both offer river frontage. Of the two I'd go for the former as there is lots to do nearby - Museum of London in Docklands a ten minute trot up the Thames Walkway for example
I was photographing yesterday so the only photo I have of the hat is a joke one featuring ds gurning under the brim
I am sure I was snapped in it though, so watch this space. MIL's hat was...a statement. Bright red straw with angular pointy brim...trying to decide whether it was an Angry Hat. She was no help to anyone yesterday, especially not poor SIL, who was extremely nervous and stressed. She just sat about carping.

Evening booters

We've had a good weekend with old university friends of mine staying with their daughter and dog.

Her Puppyship thrilled to have a real grown-up black labrador to adore. Hilarious watching them play in the garden together & this morning we took them for our favourite walk in the woods.

Dd and friends' daughter as thick as thieves the whole time.

I cooked healthy food, drank loads of water, used sunscreen, we all walked a lot.

Less than a week till summer school & loads to do to be ready...and a shortlist of houses to see.

Dd's last day at her school tomorrow - presents wrapped for teachers - big excitement.

Here's to a good week for all

www - you could try the Hispaniola (great tapas etc) which is on a large boat moored by Hungerford Bridge at Embankment. I think there are another couple of floating restaurants next to it, so could you choose whichever one you liked the look of most!

Lovely roast beef today. Lots of water. Sunscreen & moisturisers & lots of hand cream. Feet are dried hooves. Must try harder...!

Have a nice week.

Hello all,

How grim WWW, I hope you and DS get well soon (and that ds subsequently remembers how nice you are to take him to the aquarium and not be quite so pre-teeny )

Batters - that's an impressive amount of walking you racked up there - what's the walk in September?

Marina - the wedding sounds lovely and your MIL sounds like a combination of my MIL and my own mother.

Bootcamp not too bad if we gloss over the large amount of carbs I'm packing away. Morning sickness kicked in properly today but still managed to walk 16k between nursery and library. Had lots of water and up to date with lotions and potions. Late nights just not an option at all!

Enjoy the rest of your day

Do hope you and DS are feeling better soon www.

Wow Batters, impressive, and Barca sounds lovely.

The wedding sounds glorious Marina.

Enjoy Saggars. at your six weeks off though (miss my 4 weeks unpaid leave during the summer hols).

Your stamina is impressive Duchess (as is the trampolining )

The leavers' service was lovely, dark glasses and kitchen towel - more absorbent, natch - not in much use thankfully. I was feeling irrationally, hormonally and emotionally venomous in the morning about various things tbh, but I got over it and enjoyed the service eventually. We must have the only vicar who would raise sex education during the mass (and one or two of us went cold at the thought of what our little darlinks might have said...) Mine, thankfully said very little, I found out afterwards if the vicar is to be believed....can one always trust the vicar?? We also had a small reception afterwards for staff/governors, so the vino started flowing rather early on Friday. Well what's a girl to do when the Head takes your children home for tea, and DH disappears to deal with DS1?

Other than that, have had a pleasant weekend with no commitments, other than looking after a dog (hence the boys going to tea and walk the dog prior to him staying with us). Have loved having a dog around the place again, and life is so much more relaxed without the hassle routine of school.

Back to work tomorrow. Only have one full week off over the summer, but I think I only have to work one full week throughout.

Meeting the London bootcampers would be absolutely terrifying lovely, Marina, not sure how DH would feel being left in London on his own with the three boys though, hehe.

www - hope you & DS are feeling better.

ureb - service sounds er, interesting! Our last day of term is tomorrow and the place will be awash with weeping Yr 6 mothers. (Thank goodness I have another 5 years to toughen up)!

Lots of water today. Yes to moisturiser/sunscreen but neglected hands and feet.

2 x cereal, bacon muffin, chicken soup, apple & several raw carrots, chicken in tarragon sauce with rosti and heaps of green beans, sugar snap peas & carrots. A big lump of G&B chocolate.

I will now attempt an early night.

Haven't managed to read most of the thread but:
WWW - hope you and DS are on the mend, sounds most unpleasant and a shame about missing your day out together.

Marina - wedding sounds lovely, definitely want to see pictures

DofN - apricot jam sounds yummy. Have just got back into making jam after many years and really enjoying it though it doesn't last long in this house!

I'm back on the wagon as I have realised that weight has been slowly creeping on (due to addiction to all things sweet!) and I want to feel svelte and YOUNG when I hit 46 in just over 4 weeks time As DH is muttering about his weight gain too we might be able to support each other (or possibly turn it into a competition which will probably work better )

Not a bad start yesterday - better water intake, some lotions and potions applied (though feet ignored as need industrial strength 'seeing to' first!), only weakened on the sweet-things/snacking twice - 1 slice of toast and jam with children and 3-4 small chocolates that a Japanese friend gave us (believe me this is good!)
Happiness quite high as nice day with children ending in a water fight with next-door.
Potty-training going pretty well though have had our first 'poo on the carpet' incident - yuk!

Today has started well as have been up since about 7am, got some work done and children are still asleep as I post, at 8.40am

Hello all

Ds is quite a bit better, I'm still a bit dodgy. Yesterday

smoked salmon and boursin
some chorizo
some port salut

that's it.

Today
1 tsp of peanut butter
and about to eat 5 hard boiled quails eggs and hope for the best.

On the bright side surely this must have resulted in some weight loss, haven't weighed but bloody well hope so. AND I feel fantastic (other than churning stomach) as I spent all day Saturday in bed, Sunday at my mum's being fed and then we went to bed early, and all day yesterday in bed. So for 3 days Ihave done NO chores to speak of, very little work and have lolled a lot (and been in the loo a lot, apols for tmi) but it hasn't exactly been hard work, quite nice to stop for a bit really. Omg, isn't that awful, that I am welcoming of a bout of D&V because it gives me a chance to stop?! Was asleep by 10 last night, no alcohol, only food as above and I feel good for it.

Feetheart, that sounds like a good start to the day

unreb, glad you got through it despite hormones etc and meetng London bootcampers would be LOVELY! We/I must organise this!

DofN, you def failed on early night posting at 11.30 but that sounds like a good day otherwise!

Mavis, ds was pre teeny from afar, called me once he got to ex mils to shout because he'd forgotten some PS2 games. But I didn't have to answer the phone! It was lovely! I waited until his message on the machine said "Mummy, I'm sorry I was rude, please would you pick up the phone" ha ha ha. I won't see him now until Friday week and will not miss him. Ah, I will really but I know we were both disappointed about yesterday. Never mind, this week, next week and we've all got a week off together when we're not going anywhere but will have some family days out so that'll be knackering nice!

Hope everyone else is ok, we'll stay on thsi thread until nxt week shall we?

Hi everyone

dd went to a residential orchestral string course yesterday, she's away until Saturday. So spent the whole day yesterday driving up and back down the M25.

No exercise, no need for suncream, went to bed reasonably early.

At work today and tomorrow. Will be swimming on Thursday and Friday.

Dh and I have consciously started to use our cars less, walking instead if possible.
