WWW's 10 year younger bootcamp, July thread III, all welcome

Hello everyone, old and new.

This is about feeling better about yourself and looking and feeling better etc. But mainly we chat and laugh quite a lot, which has all got to help towards happiness etc.

The rules (anyone can join):

  • Sunscreen at all times - REALLY mean this now summer is here.

  • No or little booze. Wine or Champagne or whatever at the weekend is allowed if you want it

  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can

  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day

  • Apply body cream as often as possible

  • Use hand cream

  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos

  • Eat healthily

  • Be happy

The idea is that we all feel happier, healthier and glow with the good food, sleep, exercise, water and lack of sun damage.

Some people are doing India and Neris's Idiot Proof Diet (Atkins, more or less), others are doing Slimy World, others are just being as healthy as possible.

Welcome everyone, have a good week.
Apologies for belated new thread.

I'm here miss.

Hello Marina Choice and Control - next week's thread title?

Ureb - sorry about the weekend. They are precious aren't they? I remember how hard it was to foist 3 kids on some poor unsuspecting relative just to get 5 minutes 'us' time.

How's dd's toothache www?

Bootcamp going OK here - I am hopeful of being under 10st when I get on the scales on Friday. If I am it will be the first time since New Years Eve 1999

dd is at home sick. Well more depressed really; and knackered and ready for the end of term. She's managed to go in almost everyday this term which is a minor miracle but this last few days was a step too far. Still it was idle about doing nothing activity week this week, including a trip to Alton Towers which is a waste of money for her so she's not missed much. No sign of SATs results either.

Report
oi · 16/07/2008 21:24

congrats bama! glad you are feeling better eemie and hope all the poorly dcs recover

I don't know how much I weight because I can't find the scales but the pill I am on now appears to have increased my breast cup size by 2 sizes! Dh is most impressed.

I am still in pain grr, in fact it seems to be getting worse and I'm sure it's an ulcer. I called the doctor today (re the repeat prescription for the pill) and they said I have to come in as they can't do repeats for the pill without a consultation but they have a family planning clinic on Monday night at the surgery (with doctors and nurses) so I was wondering whether I could go and insist on seeing a doctor (you can do this) and then mention my stomach? I don't know if they will be annoyed if I do this at the same time (at the family planning thing..)?

unknownrebelbang · 16/07/2008 22:08

oi, I think you need to - they can't issue a script without you being checked over because of contra-indications? I have no knowledge of whether this is correct, but I'd be an anxious patient worried about taking the pill whilst ill blah blah blah.

Sorry to hear about DD saggars, she's done well though over the term, hasn't she? DS1 went to Towers on Monday.

Saggars, do remind me what 10 stone is like please? I think I was a teenager last time I was 10 stone!

Well done Marina.

How's DS yoyo, and DD www?

TBH, I don't want to leave the boys with SIL this weekend. They'd have a great time, but I'd feel guilty with it being school breakup - especially with DS2 leaving. Letting them go on camp was different. Anyway, she's said she'll have DS3 next camp if she's free - hopefully October/November, which is closer to our w/a anyway. Plus, we've landed ourselves with dogsitting for a few days now

Bootcamp okish, not enough exercise and finest fudge today...

Happy but emotional this week (I've come to terms with the missed weekend now - will get DH to spend some money anyway, hehe)

Another assembly at DS1's school - he received his sports tie today...only 12 months (and two years) after he got his medals! They're not likely to get results til September, are they saggars?

DS2 has had his results confirmed now.

DH has been to Birkdale today with four children from school who won some tickets. He's had a great day out...and saved the Head from tearing his hair out.

oi · 16/07/2008 22:11

oh yes, I don't mind having to see the doc about the pill (it's to do with checking blood pressure apparently). Just wondered if they would be annoyed if I mentioned my stomach at the same time rather than making a separate appointment (I'm not very good with this doctor lark ).

Report
unknownrebelbang · 16/07/2008 22:50

I'm not either, but I think you should mention it in a "will my illness be made worse by taking the pill" sort of way. and/or "will taking the pill be affected by this illness?".

Hello all.
Ureb, sorry your weekend has been postponed, can you plan something lavish for your wedding anniversary?

Oi, I think ureb speaks wise words, you can get a consult about your stomach when you go in for the pill. Surely anything you have to digest might affect it?

WWW and Saggars - hope your respective dds are feeling better

Marina - well done on the weight loss. Yes I did think I was pregnant but that was last month . This month I was absolutely convinced I wasn't so tested just to get things moving as it were.

Well, bootcamping is fine with me. Went out for dinner at a friends house last night and watched everyone else drink wine. Have been feeling a bit sick but convinced this is psychological as I felt fine up until I tested! So far have managed to resist eating my body weight in toast but I'm sure that will come.

Poor little ds is curled up asleep on the sofa at the moment, a bit listless and a slight temp. Poor love. So forced to MN really .

Hello all - goodness, it's quiet here this week!

Bama - HUGE congrats . Do you have an idea of how many weeks you are yet?

eemie, so sorry about the burglary; glad to hear you're applying well-known homeopathic remedies of sex and chocolate.

www, extremely of your blissful-sounding weekend (and train-snogging!); ureb, sorry yours was cancelled ...

All a bit harum-scarum and generally medium here this week. DS's godmother is coming to babysit tonight so DP and I can go out to talk, and TBH I'm dreading it. Much easier to let things just slide along, though I realise not helpful in the long-term. Things just really not good with us, and haven't been for a long time (since well before DS decided to make his presence known). Still, I guess better to talk than to keep everything bottled up. Hmmn. Wish me luck.

Have been sticking to bootcamping, however, to maintain a degree of serenity . Main news on that front is that I went to get my heels dealt with! The Scholl people were lovely, entirely judgment-free, and gave me much heel-maintenance kit to take home.

Less good: four months post-partum and my hair is falling out everywhere. Most annoying. How long does this last for?

Report
MavisGrind · 17/07/2008 11:26

L&S - the hair thing is a pita. I have very thick curly hair which was long when I had ds. I can't remember how long it fell out for but it seemed like ages and it just got everywhere (my dyson seemed to grind to a halt). Best of luck with your evening summit. Babies tend to bring these underlying issues to the surface (I know it did for me) so I hope you can get it all sorted out. I'm just shy of 5 weeks so really early. Due about 21st of March. Just hoping I don't have morning sickness to coincide with the loooong flight back to the UK..

Report
WideWebWitch · 17/07/2008 14:23

L&S, I hope it goes well tonight and isn?t as bad as you think. Do you think it might be a relief to talk about it? No idea on hair thing sorry but well done on bootcamping a bit, I really do think I feel better for sleep, good food, etc etc.

Oi, agree, you should mention it while getting prescription.

Yoyo, hope ds is feeling better today. No, we have no other holidays planned other than a week off at home when I intend to make most mealtimes in restaurants or take aways, i.e. not cooked by me or dh. I think we?ll have a lovely time if we do some day trips.

Marina, well done on 1.5 and lol at Choice and Control. Yeah, yeah, we know. agree, it should be next week?s thread title!

Saggars, poor dd, I hope she?s feeling better today am VERY envious of under 10stone, well done, fabulous.

Ureb, do plan something lavish for your anniversary, how many years? Do you need help? Btw, sorry Saggars, completely failed to recommend something for your parents, will have a think and post with any good ideas.

How ARE Pru?s norks?
Where is Batters? (I think Barcelona, lovely!)
Is Sobernow still loamy?

Went to bed at 9.45pm after mega mega strop by ds, vile, went on an hour and it wasn?t even about the 11 bloody plus, it was about having to go into school to be in a play ffs.

So feel fine today, no wine last night, obv, am gagging for it (and the wine, fnar fnar)

Today
3 sausages
smoked salmon and boursin wraps
salami
loads of water
have quails eggs and celery salt on my desk as a snack
couple of brazil nuts
used sunscreen
having home made burgers tonight, dh is making them.

feel happy ish. I really really really want to be thinner and I know last weekend probably stalled me big time, worth it though it most certainly was. And thank goodness it?s Friday tomorrow, this week has dragged?

Had a GREAT day shopping today. This has never happened before. I bought two pairs of jeans and some cropped jeans from Monsoon in a 12 and they slip on - no breathing in and no muffin top . I also bought a sundress from M&S and two pairs of sandals from Dune. So happy to have some clothes. Just some tops to find and I am sorted.

Just over three weeks to our holiday and I am going to push myself hard with exercise. Had a great session this morning and felt revitalised.

DS is better and went to school today. His appetite is not back properly apart from fruit but he is more his normal self.

WWW - sorry to hear that DS was difficult last night. Have had some door slamming going on here too.

L&S - will be thinking of you tonight. I am sure that many of us have had these "where are we going?" "how can things improve?" conversations especially with a young baby.

Eek L&S, I hope the evening is going well.

One of my best friends is leaving our school tomorrow, her girls are in Year 1 & Reception with my DD1 & DS1 and they're all really good friends too. I'm presenting leaving gifts on behalf of the class and I know I am going to blub. But at least I won't be alone, my leaving present to them is a photograph album full of pictures of the school, their classmates, school trips etc. It's blub-tastic!

But I'm in the middle of making apricot jam so must get back t'kitchen.

L&S - positive vibes for this evening. All sounds a bit scary, but well done you for trying to get the situation sorted.

It'll be 20 years in September, and lavish does sound good. Oh well, can start to plan our few days in London next month with the boys. Alas, it's travelodge not threadneedles...

Sympathy with DS www. I'm the one who's had a strop tonight and chucked a load of the boys' stuff which had been littered around the house out of the front door (just as the parents of our neighbours drove off...oops).

Bootcamp soso. Am on half-speed I think. Spent an hour in Boots and really struggled to choose some treats for myself . Decided on some Soapandglory stuff in the end.

Hello sympathy unreb, I got home last night and felt REALLY anxious and then realised it's because I walked in the door and THREE people ALL talked AT ME at ONCE. Drank wine I'm afraid but not to excess (less than a bottle, which is v abstemious for me) and with lots of ice, so diluted plus I went to bed at 10 so feel ok today but still looking forward to the end of the day already!

L&S hope it went as well as can be expected.

wow at 20 years. Travelodge is good when you're with children and don't want swanky imo, I stayed with ds last year at the one in Drury Lane was great location.

DofN, that does sound blubtastic, hope it goes well. And making jam, how lovely!

Morning all, fltting through as my Fortnight of EoT Hell crunches to a halt (last hurrah = sitting in local fleapit watching Wall-E with sleep-deprived dd, ds and ds' best pal).
Last night was school play/prizegiving...lovely, but long. Play was based around a Music Hall evening and some of the singing and dancing was v. impressive
Eemie, got your CAT, will reply properly possibly tonight It's a good location and I know of happy punters at several likely local establishments
L&S, I do hope last night went OK. I know our long relationship was at its most vulnerable in the first year after ds was born, more so even than living through a subsequent stillbirth tbh. It is just such a system shock. I do hope you can both find your ways out of these unhappy times XXX
at long curly hair, all I managed was to block the shower outlet when all mine fell out in 48 hours flat.
Hope the 20th anniversary plans are going well ureb...leaving dh in the room with a copy of Trainspotters' Gazette/What Tiny Fish/Golfing for Losers and coming out on the lam with the rest of the London Bootcampers is probably not on your agenda
La Battarcita must be in Barca I reckon www
Am not speaking to yoyo and her size 12 trousers, pah! The only thing I tried on yesterday which fitted was a quangle wangle hat for the wedding on Sat. That lady in John Lewis saw me coming and no mistake
I exercised Choice but little Control when confronted with chocolate yesterday but man, I needed it and it was good. Other than that, Omron restored to health (and have seemingly lost 10KG from when I first bought 14 months ago, overall, wow, had not realised that), drinking water, staggering about a lot, eating pretty well, etc
Live long and prosper all...chickens, babies and norks y comprises

Bootcamp a disaster this week (hence slinking in on a Friday ) - end of term madness, work madness, horrible cold and DS deciding he wants to wear pants not nappies during the busiest week of the year (eeek emoticon needed!)

Bootcamping will resume in earnest next week though it will be the school holidays so temptations will be many and varied and walking more limited - ho hum!

Evening all.

WWW - sorry to hear about ongoing ishoos with ds.

Yoyo am of good shopping day. I'm rubbish at shopping although it is a skill I would like to acquire

Duchess - how's the jam and are you, as we speak, blubbing?

T/shell - hope all is good with you

Ureb - 20 years - wow! surely that involves a big gift?

Marina - that's an impressive weight loss over the last year or so, how much more do you want to lose? Also much lol at the quangle wangle hat (I feel that was a sort of moss green) I hope you have a fabulous time, the need for a hat suggests quality nibbles. Oh and needless to say my once long curly hair is now short(er), strawlike and somewhat dull. (at least I don't get old ladies prattling on about the pre-raphealites anymore)

Feetheart - much strength with the pants not nappies state of affairs. I have decided that ds will stay in nappies until his wife decides otherwise.

L&S - hope last night was constructive for you both.

Bootcamp good for me (as wine was my downfall usually). Lots of water, loads of lotions and potions (although I still need recommendations for a really good handcream). I'm off for a farewell high tea tomorrow afternoon. There will be cake.

Have a lovely weekend all.

I've read the thread and had lots of comments to make but brain has leaked them all - except for HOW MANY YEARS YOUNGER IS SNOGGING ON A TRAIN?!

I didn't blub when I made the leaving presentation. ureb how did your Y6 leaving assembly go? Did you need lots of tissues and dark glasses?!?!

Last nights apricot jam was a triumph. It's delicious and a perfect clear colour and it will win at the Autumn Horticultural Show.

Had an exhausting day of 'teddy bear picnic' with Reception class that involved a bear hunt and lots of running about games. I now feel like I've been knee-capped and thwacked across the back with a large plank of wood. So I'm off to bed.

Marina, I hope the wedding is ok today, agree about the dress. lol at choice and control on the chocolate front too.

batters, that sounds like a fab holiday and agree you had to drink cava, rude not to.

feetheart, end of term stuff is a pita isn't it? I think everyone's usually had enough by this time of year tbh.

mavis, handcream is something I'm totally rubbish at remembering to do tbh. I have a Santuary one that might be ok if I used it...

Last night had chingri sagwalla (prawns and spinach) from Indian plus a but of dh's lamb and 2 mouthfulls of naan which I shouldn't have done but it was lovely.
And some Champagne and cava and then fell asleep on the sofa at 9pm so an early night but not exactly satisfying from a spending time with dh pov. Never mind.

Have just had 3 sausages for breakfast

snogging on a train is a distant memory Duch but was v nice!
