Has brown become too dominant in style and beauty shops lately

Hi while I like brown its everywhere now. Blazers all brown in shops. I love burgundy but brown in everything. Do others like it.

No. For a start I get 70s school uniform vibes. Second, who wants to walk around looking like a giant turd?

warninglivewithoutwarning · Yesterday 14:22

It’s awful.
Burgandy is going to be next.

mondaytosunday · Yesterday 14:24

Earthy neutrals set off burgandy well. These are autumnal colours that fashion always feature this time of year. I like it.

purpledagger · Yesterday 14:24

i’m a deep autumn, so brown is in my colour palette and i’m looking forward to it - i already have some poo brown trousers i’m looking forward to wearing.

JaneJaneAnne · Yesterday 14:25

Fashion is by its very nature, temporary.

if you don’t like brown wait a few months and it will move on.

Mary46 · Yesterday 14:25

Its everywhere isnt it! I find it hard to match up colours wise

I love autumn but the predictability of autumnal fashion in autumnal colours is so drab. Brown is a good colour in summer I feel - goes well with tanned skin, works with white, cream and denim and summer accessories (gold, tan leather sandals, boho etc). But oh this endless sea of brown, blood clot red and forest green together in the shops is so ugly. Especially with this oversized baggy aesthetic now. Hate it.

I am so old that I can remember the brown 90s phase. It will leave soon, I remember wearing variations of drab brown for months.

Yes this.

No. I'm a jewel winter and am waiting for the winter colours to hit the shops.

DramaAlpaca · Yesterday 14:30

I hate brown. It's so drab and I don't think it suits me. Burgundy doesn't either.

Myblueclematis · Yesterday 14:31

Brown is not my colour, there's no way that I would be buying anything in brown, ever or bottle green. I do like burgundy though.

My friend wears a lot of brown in the autumn/winter months, usually top and trousers together. Not sure the look she is going for is a giant turd! 😂😂

Brown goes with a lot of colours. Easy choices like white/cream. Earthy tones like sage/olive. Black or navy or burgundy. Grey looks great with brown. Blue/pink/purple/lilac add a great pop. Yellow or red. Tonal shades.
if you don’t like brown, sit it out and pick colours that suit you. Fashions change c

SirChenjins · Yesterday 14:33

It's a great base colour to add others to - I love it!

IDontCareWhatMyUsernameIs · Yesterday 14:33

Yes. It’s hideous and completely ubiquitous.

Calling it ‘bitter chocolate’ or whatever doesn’t change the fact that you’re wearing a sad looking brown cardigan.

See it just goes round and round, i probably wore brown kids clothes in the 70s.

topcat2014 · Yesterday 14:34

Holland Cooper is entirely brown atm

Lomonald · Yesterday 14:34

I like a burgundy or a biege top can be nice.

Floisme · Yesterday 14:35

I like it and I also like burgundy. And I’m delighted to see black and grey knocked off their perch, albeit temporarily.

Slightyamusedandsilly · Yesterday 14:36

It is and I hate it. Seen a couple of nice pieces that have been ruined by the brown fabric. Who wants to look like sludge?

We'll be back to brown sofas next. 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮

Pugdogmom · Yesterday 14:37

I like it, as it's a colour that suits me. Am not a fan of burgundy though.

  • that wonderful material..crimpelene As though the brown wasn't bad enough.
SocksAndTheCity · Yesterday 14:38

I don't mind it although it's not a favourite; I have a very dark brown lace skirt which goes well with black, and some brown mini UGG boots as well as a camel cashmere sweater which goes with a lot too. I got a long oxblood tulle skirt on Vinted which I also like a lot.

Navy on the other hand, wants firing into the sun.

I can remember when it was a huge trend three decades ago and I bathed in it. Brown boot leg trousers. Brown square toe boots.
Every single store it was the same over but to be fair I was young and like a rake then. Definitely Kookai vibes, hair in little knots, MAC spice lip liner.
Now? Not. I still like it as a colour for certain things.
What I can’t look at are these huge, faux leather pretend YSL jackets. Like big bombers with lots of pockets. They just look cheap and are so unflattering.
That’s fashion for you, fickle as anything.
