What do you think of this set?

This burgundy set has caught my eye. Thought it looked nice for Autumn. What do people think of it? Where could I wear it and what would it go with.

River Island Burgundy set

The only 'co-ords' I've bought are skirts and tops, but I've been wearing black jogger-type trousers with black tops - and the same in navy - forever. I see other people in similar all the time. Do people round your way never team their bottoms with matching tops? 😳

@EleanorMc67, that looks very like the lady in a picture I have on my wall - captioned After several glasses of wine, she bid everyone a slurred goodnight and made a dramatic exit into a cupboard.

Btw, @Gettingcosy13, I think you should wear it with trainers that make you happy when you look at your feet.

I'd say not burgundy / faux purple ones, or you might look like you're wearing a babygro! Absolutely any other colour or pattern, though. I think pale green looks nice with burgundy, if you want one person's opinion.

Some of these reponses are crazy, theres nothong wrong with it, its fine for what you want to wear it for. Really like the colour

I have never in my life clicked on a thread and thought any of the recommendations on here were something I would wear. There seems to be a very strange love for M&S, clumpy shoes, sack dresses, linen… and extremely expensive yet hideously garish wedding guest outfits. Ignore!

The snobbery and sneering in these replies. I am 55 and RI is one of my favourites, never had an issue with quality. I also have a love affair with burgundy and co-ords. My only issue with this set is im 5’2 so no go.

If I was tall enough to wear it I would combine with a gilet and trainers

This is so interesting because proper purple does nothing for me; I’m blonde, brown eyes, tan skin. However I love lilac and burgundy, I would classify burgundy as a shade of red, not purple

I've seen worse But it looks like thin shoddy material. I think there's better stuff out there.

My only comment is that the crotch looks weirdly long!

You can get more of a plum burgundy and more of red burgundy. This is more of a plum burgundy I’d say not purple.

You can’t say the whole of MN is xyz… some people like some stuff, others don’t

Looks like pyjamas

I do like sets as long as they are easily styled with other items in my wardrobe. The colour may not be for everyone, but just ask yourself “can I get 6 outfits from this one set”? Top with jeans, trousers, and a skirt. Will the trousers go with other tops/jackets in your wardrobe? I go for cost to wear. How many times can you wear it for the cost of it? If you can and you love it, go for it, but if you can’t don’t bother x

I’ve just been to an event at my teen’s school and around 90% of the girls were wearing variations of that set almost all burgundy or chocolate brown, a couple black or cream.

I’ve got some black wide leg joggers from RI they’re really comfy and wash very well.

The material is very unforgiving

Last time I was on a flight, plenty of people were wearing this kind of thing. I mean, it looks exactly like pyjamas, but if you don’t mind that, it’s clearly comfy.

When I asked what would go with it I meant more in terms of black adidas trainers or cream adidas trainers so to speak

I like it. It’s very cold where I live so I have a selection of fleecy pull on sets. Which are definitely nsfsr. So your post reminded me to check on Amazon (remote, hard to get deliveries) and I’ve found this ridiculous bargain
