What do you think of this set?

This burgundy set has caught my eye. Thought it looked nice for Autumn. What do people think of it? Where could I wear it and what would it go with.

I just feel some of replies are making fun.

I actually thought yours was one of the sensible replies hence why I responded.

I’m not at all bothered if people say they don’t like it, it’s only a loungewear set. I haven’t even bought it yet. But I think the time of some of the replies is quite off.

But not to worry.

For comfort- and because I am in London where it's hot- I wear Uniqlo linen- cotton trousers with an elasticated waist, and a cotton tshirt from Rapanui or Uniqlo or Cos.
Maybe something like that? Rapanui has very good, soft cotton casual clothes.

Well that’s the issue, it shouldn’t be a normal outfit for popping out in.

I think what is the norm for me and my circle is worlds apart from most of mumsnet.

I didn’t know some jogging bottoms and a matching cardi could cause controversy.

There’s a really nice set on George atm that I think looks comfy and great for lounging in. I think it looks a little less like pyjamas. If you’re interested, let me know and I’ll send you the link. I’ve just ordered it myself!

It’s very overpriced for what it is. It’s fine as an at home co-ord but pretty ordinary. And the price again…

Jogger and a tshirt or sweatshirt or something, just lounging about the house clothes. And then nothing to bed, I hate the feeling of constraint!

It's no biggie if you wear it. It's not like I would think "Gosh, how awful" if I ran into you in the supermarket.
I find polyester uncomfortable as well, in humid weather.

I think it’s as you asked where to wear it and what would it go with. So people are answering the question you specifically asked.

had you said is this ok for lounging round the house or popping to the supermarket, school run, the answers would have been different. Because obvs it’s fine for that.

but where would I wear it and what would I wear with it, is more typically asked of a going out outfit, not casual gear to do normal daily stuff.

Horrible. Burgundy isn't as bad as the "chocolate" brown that's everywhere but it's quite cheap looking. The material looks thin for autumn/winter.

Personally I'd never wear coloured trousers. The top might be ok on it own but together it's too much.

I don’t really like sets, but as far as they go, that one is perfectly inoffensive. Hard to have strong feelings either way about it.
I do think it’s expensive for what it is though.

Nothing wrong with burgundy. Not all of us suit chic beige or camel or grey. I am camel coloured myself and it washes me out!
You never wear coloured trousers? Why not? They can look perfectly fine in the right fabric.

What does it need to go with? It’s basically a lounge set or pyjamas, even if it’s meant to be for the outdoors.

I think that, while it might look ok-ish in a photo, in the flesh it will be cheap-looking. It will probably wear badly, & if you can avoid polyester at all then you should really try to especially in fast-fashion items that won't last long.

How about this very similar but IMO much better-looking set? It's 95% cotton with elastane for stretch & shape, & is IMO fine for indoors & out? M&S has just started stocking this brand. They do lots of casual leisure wear.

Nothing wrong with this type of set but I don't like this particular one. It already looks too small and uncomfortable on the model.

I don't like the buttons going that high up, I'm pretty sure they are sticking the top of the button side to the models neck to make it look nicer than it is in real life. The fabric is not that stiff and with the buttons weighing it down that side is going to sag just like the other side so you will always have a strange flappy v neck.

The top is also quite short which I don't quite like.

Looking at the materials I feel it won't last very long if you plan on wearing it a lot, it's not dryer friendly and I have feeling it will fade.

Yes that is quite nice and a similar design, need to zoom in on the laptop I think.

It looks good on the model, I can see it's the sort of thing that's in fashion for younger women, if you're tall & slim it would look ok, but i wouldn't want it in polyester. Everything that's fashionable at the minute seems to be in man made fabrics. I like stuff that keeps me cool in summer and warm in winter.

I think it is expensive for what looks like very thin, cheap polyester.

Mumsnet never cease to amaze me with some of the things people suggest with regards to clothing, I rarely see people out in the real world wearing most of the things suggested, never mind know people willing to pay £££ for the privilege. Different strokes for different folks I suppose.

The set itself is very inoffensive, looks a little bit like PJs but I doubt I'd even take a second glance at it if I saw someone on the street wearing it. I do think it's very overpriced though, you could probably get the same thing at the same quality level in Asda at a third of the price.
