It’s nice and a nice colour, I’m in my 30s and I wear a similar one that’s striped, I see loads of people wearing them with nice trainers

StarRibbons · 25/09/2026 05:58

I'd wear it at home as loungewear/PJs but not outside!

Frumpitydoo · 25/09/2026 05:59

What's a set? Is it a 'thing' nowadays? And yeah, sorry, it's foul!

CraftySeal · 25/09/2026 07:51

Someone like Molly Mae wears a lot of sets like this and manages to make them look stylish and chic. But I'm sure if I were to wear the exact same one, I'd look frumpy. I think it's because she's got a slim waist, big boobs, good bum, very pretty face and expensive/on-trend accessories. I do not have most of those things.

spinnerzs · 25/09/2026 08:18

I don’t think Molly Mae looks anything like her photos in real life!

Summerlovingtheraspberries · 25/09/2026 09:08

I think the top is ok but I don’t like the trousers.
I wouldn’t wear it for work or anything other than lounge wear. The material screams lounge wear to me.
I would wear the top with different, better fabrics such as denim. Then again I would probably better a better quality top, one made from a cotton blend.

wiredandtired · 25/09/2026 09:19

Gettingcosy13 · 24/09/2026 12:12

I don’t think I really get on with S&B on mumsnet because I’ve found this before.

I tend to dress like most of the other women my age where I live but I think maybe a lot of the women on here dress a bit posher so I’m probably posting in the wrong place 🤣

I don't think it's about 'posh', I think it just seems really expensive for what it is?

It's basically just thin polyester loungewear, it's not worth £60+. Probably not very warm for the upcoming cooler months either.

You could get better in a supermarket for £20-30.

Cutthebullshit · 25/09/2026 09:27

I don't think it looks bad but it does look poor quality and maybe quite thin for winter. I have lots of tracksuits from zara that look fairly similar to this but thicker and better quality that I wear for the school run and working from home.

Sulgari · 25/09/2026 09:35

I like it @Gettingcosy13 and much prefer polyester type fabric for these things as it goes out of shape much less than cotton, especially ribbed cotton

I have just bought a similar set and intend to wear it with my McQueen scarf and airforce ones for exactly the sort of day to day running about you describe. If you’re younger then ASICS are the thing

I’ll chuck a trench coat over the top if it’s cold or wet

it is weird in here, sets are always dismissed as pyjamas, and slip dresses as nighties. I feel sometimes like my old school mistresses are policing it 🙈

borntobequiet · 25/09/2026 09:36

I’m old enough to remember when this would have been about a hairdo.

These matching “sets” invariably look cheap and tacky, however much you pay for them.

SpidersAreShitheads · 25/09/2026 10:23

Matching sets like this are quite Marmite, until very recently no one would have been seen dead wearing them as they were very 70s, and not in a retro cool way. They remind me of the old-fashioned trend for wearing matching colours for your lipstick, nail varnish, handbag, and shoes!

I think co-ord sets rarely look good in real life. Not many people wear them around here but every time I’ve seen them it’s invariably been in the supermarket in the evening, and it looks like pyjamas.

I think it’s less the style and more the matchy matchy colours. I don’t think it would look so bad if the clothes were more structured. And I think contrasting/complementary colours in the same loose style would look fine. It’s just the swishy style in one colour that makes it look like nightwear imo.

And I think a PP is right, this is a trend that won’t age well. Photos will be hidden 😂

Some people obvs like them though but I think these are such a divisive trend you’re unlikely to ever get a resounding yes from everyone on coords - and especially not this one as it looks a bit thin/low quality.

Sorry OP.

Lexy2345 · 25/09/2026 16:04

I think it's nice, comfortable, smarter than joggers and a sweatshirt.
There are some terrible clothes snobs on this thread OP, but don't be disheartened. If you like something and know you will enjoy wearing it, then buy it and to hell with what the MN fashionistas say.

MyFavouriteGame · 25/09/2026 16:51

Tesco sell something that looks very similar.

AppleDumplingWithCustard · 25/09/2026 18:22

spinnerzs · 24/09/2026 22:23

@Gettingcosy13 you asked people opinions!

Yes she did but there’s no excuse for posters turning it into a bitchfest.

Loubelou71 · 25/09/2026 18:27

I think it would begin to look worn very quickly and not stay nice for long. I tend to stay away from sets like that because you only feel nice on them on their first wear.

Sorry OP.

I feel attacked - I absolutely love matching my lipstick/earrings/nails/handbag/shoes - is it really that uncool?? 🙈🤣

Seriously, it looks comfortable as loungewear for the evening at home if the colour suits you, but wide legged trousers can be a menace if you’ve got stairs. (The hazards of wide trousers and also mule/loose slippers came up while talking to a paramedic recently).

Oh come on! That’s just mean-spirited.

curious79 · 26/09/2026 08:55

Wow you could wear it loads of places - Aldi, Tesco, Greggs. Jazz it up with uggs and a fake Gucci bag

Gettingcosy13 · 26/09/2026 12:50

What did that person say?

Gettingcosy13 · 26/09/2026 13:07

Honestly some of these replies are vile. Some of you are so childish it’s embarrassing.

Thank you to those posters who have called it out.

There’s absolutely nothing wrong with giving opinions, but some of these replies aren’t opinions they’re just nasty people trying to belittle. All the faux horror at co-ords.

I’ve been out this morning and seen quite a few people wearing co-ord sets. You don’t have to like them but calling people chavs etc is very stuck up.

menopausequeen · 26/09/2026 13:09

Looks like pyjamas

Gettingcosy13 · 26/09/2026 13:10

Before I get jumped on I’m not talking about people who have genuinely just given their honest opinion and said they don’t like it or whatever

I’m talking about the bitchy mean girl replies.

MyFavouriteGame · 26/09/2026 14:22

I’m going out in my Tesco set right now having just been to the gym in it. Is it comfy? Yes. Do I look good? Absolutely.
