What do you think of this set?

This burgundy set has caught my eye. Thought it looked nice for Autumn. What do people think of it? Where could I wear it and what would it go with.

River Island Burgundy set

As much as that does look better and is more expensive , markies quality has gone really down hill, they have made everything look fantastic on line, but when you see the clothes in reality they look cheap and low quality, so I would suspect that needs to be looked at in real life. It is at a higher price point, so maybe ok,

@OsfameronTanamoril I just don't like coloured trousers. I've got black, navy and a white summer pair (that were never worn this year due to the shite summer).
I feel like a clown with coloured trousers on although they look fine on other people.

It looks nice, but you would have to be slim and attractive to carry it off IMO. (Like the model is!)

I think the problem with that set is that the pants are quite shapeless, especially around the top and crotch (look at the Khaki version), and styling it with a white T-shirt makes me wonder if it was too PJ-like on its own; overall, the material is very thin.

I see so many women wearing these things out and wonder why. It’s clothing for toddlers, or it’s nightwear.

Look nice and comfy, OP. And it's mostly viscose, with polyester.

It's not M&S though - it's Wat The Brand. And without even seeing it, the cotton-elastane fabric is definitely going to be hugely better quality (& longer-lasting, & less harmful to the environment).

Despite all the issues with M&S right now (see current separate thread on the topic), I still think most of it is bound to be better than River Island.

I like it , I bought a tracksuit ( children’s but age 15/16 fits me as a size 12 ) from M&S last week , same colour although the top is a hoodie . I prefer a hoodie to a cardigan.
I’ve worn it twice and had no end of compliments 😊 .

I think with these type of set you need decent quality unless it's just for at home lounge wear

I like sets like that OP but I’m hesitant to buy because they do look like PJs! I also find trousers like that to be really impractical in the winter when it’s cold and wet.

I have to defend River Island actually - I have a few bits from there and the quality is good. It’s just a shame they always add a random zip or ruffle or tacky gold accessory to the clothes 🥲

I quite like it. A downside for me would be that it's probably too short, in both body and leg. And it looks thin, so in a week or two you'll have to whack the heating up to get warm.

Never really understood loungewear from that point of view. Thin jersey would be the last thing I'd wear to lounge about in in winter! I don't have a problem with man-made materials if they feel nice and keep me warm.

im not sure I agree it’s bound to better than river island, those days are long gone, at best it will be on a par.

The colour is lovely though but the photos make it look poorly made, especially the close up of the buttons. I wouldn’t buy that fabric mix either, it will bobble quickly.

What a nasty response you’ve had on S&B, I’m sorry people feel it’s appropriate to talk to other women like that. Who knew co-ords could inspire such spiteful and snippy responses. I love the colour, and with some mini uggs or trainers it would look lovely as a casual Autumn outfit.

I haven’t commented on the clothes at all. But I am puzzled, @Gettingcosy13as to what you wanted from the thread? I’m not seeing any ‘controversy’ - some posters like the items you’ve linked, some don’t. Is that not ok?

It’s really normal for round here as well op. Nice colour and comfortable would be absolutely fine for school run, shops etc.
the cardi you could also put with wide leg jeans and trainers to mix it up.
The trousers could be with an oversized T shirt and jacket.

You find the people who are genuinely in to S & B are not that rude on here even if it’s not their style. They tend to suggest alternatives, focus on the positives such as great colour or they say nothing!
Take no notice of them.

So far on this thread the OP has been told it’s ‘chavvy’ she would look like a ‘toddler’, the material is cheap looking, she would need to be tall and slim like the model to carry it off, and that co-ords look like ‘pyjamas’ are only fit for ‘cleaning’ and shouldn’t be seen in public. It’s ok to offer constructive opinions but she’s asked about some pretty normal clothing, not whether she should wear a bikini to a job interview fgs.

You missed out what I said, @Shesafancyflapjack - which was that if the OP didn’t already have any idea of where to wear it or what it would go with in her own wardrobe, it would probably be a pointless purchase. Again, I didn’t comment on the outfit itself.

@Gettingcosy13 What do you want it to go with? Do you mean footwear? As it’s a set it’s already a complete outfit.

I like it and I would wear it out of the house for nipping to the shops etc

I don't mind it. My daughter would wear something like this (she's 14 though). I would probably wear it if it felt nice for lounge wear/school run/supermarket. But I do love a loungewear set and pjs!! I do think it's 'how' things are worn sometimes as well.
