Welcome back everyone to the new thread and hello to any newbies - join us now in time for the autumnal fun. 🍂💄🌂

As always when the Advent threads are running hot this thread is a little quieter but holiday releases, sets and edits are just around the corner. I'm super excited to be going to Sephoria London in October - I still can't believe I lucked out getting a ticket.

Some exciting homegrown news -after a few technical hiccups the FB group is now searchable (but private) MN Beauty Chat Swap/Trade/Sell.* *For those interested in the group we have a few joining rules you will be asked to abide by. Thank you @MrsBnow12 @CinderellaParker for your help.

There's the U beauty neck cream in the Harrods advent this year, has retinol. I've been using it for a few days, not super thick more lotion, spreads nice and absorbs well or dries well. No idea how effective but no reaction from the retinol after approx 4-5 uses.

Oh yes. I forgot I have that. No need to buy Trinny just yet. 😂

Also liking Prequel's gleanser, you only need a petit pois amount.I wasn't expecting it to be foaming either. I've a face that's prone to redness and can be sensitive and it's fine. I've got two clinique redness cleansers somewhere which I've managed to lose so switched to the prequel which is better value as it's 400ml and you use about 1/4 of that of the clinique. Love the packaging, leaves skin clean and soft, winner.

SheilaFentiman · 12/09/2026 21:58

nooo, do not tell me about more good cleansers, they are my downfall!! 😀

DidILeaveTheGasOn · 12/09/2026 21:59

Oh I ordered the Harrods BAC so if it ever arrives, I might have neck cream.

keepincool · 12/09/2026 23:03

I thought I'd seen a post where someone said they're waiting for a hair edit, but I can't find it. Anyway... @MaryBD reviewed the CB Fine By Me hair edit today - and CB have 20% off App purchases this weekend so I've succumbed 💇‍♀️

LemonJuiceFromConcentrate · 12/09/2026 23:24

Thanks for the new thread! Resisting BACs so hard because I want other things 🥲 but I did order the LF one for DD again.

In other news, my holy-grail lip balm that I've used for over 20 years is recently failing me! I am usually a die-hard Blistex intensive moisturiser girl, and lately my lips have been dry and sore.

I used some Laneige last night which seems to have worked to ease it a bit, but that's upstairs and I am not! A Kiehl's lip balm isn't doing much.

So that's a pain in the bum...

Interestingly, exact the same has happened to me, I wonder if Blistex have reformulated it. I've also been using it for decades.

nearly61 · 13/09/2026 08:30

Ooh thank you @keepincool As usual I missed the emails about this and had been hunting for a hair edit too! Plus it's a bargain, as I keep telling myself. Some of the things will go in my ever expanding frankenstein advent and some will go to my daughter in law so win win.

Branster · 13/09/2026 08:33

Thank you @OvaHerefor keeping these threads going!

I am on a sensible journey of not buying edits (and no AC this year, the only one that I like for products I would love to try and value for money is Elle).
I have been spending far too much money on buying individual products that I already used or started to use regularly. But I do actually use them daily. I will be phasing out Bio Effect because I can’t see it does anything for me. I do like the way the moisturiser feels on application but any No7 moisturiser would do the same, in fact more for my skin. I’m completely bored of the drops, it takes forever to use each bottle but will power through until I finish all my stash. It will take forever.

I have been trying to re-arrange my ridiculously large ‘collection’. It is set up by type (cleansers, serums, toners, oils, eye creams, body oil etc). I have consolidated some things by brand, with the view of using them as sessions until I run out to see if they are actually any good for me.
I already had a large Sisheido collection which I still haven’t started. For some completely unknown reason, I have a lot of Sisley stuff. I don’t know why or how because it’s not something I ever used due to the price. I do have a habit of grabbing the odd product when travelling and I do receive some lovely gifts. I didn’t realise they accumulated so much. I’m almost scared of using anything in case they really are amazing. Prices on Sisley/Sisleya and Neurae are beyond silly.

Similarly with Neal’s Yard, never ever used it but I have quite a few of these bottles and jars and tins I will try, only because I really like their ethos as a company.

I got rid of anything Korean on Vinted/eBay. So that freed up some space. Korean stuff is very good from what I tried, but I can’t make sense of it and don’t have the patience to learn. I’ve ruthless but it was needed.

The other stuff I could group by brand has too few items , less than 5-6/brand so I’ll just dip in and out as I need, say, a new cleanser or oil. It will take me lots of lifetimes but I’ll get through them somehow.

This leaves a large box of face sheet masks and eye patches. Easy enough to use regularly, but it still seems to take forever to see the levels going down.

I absolutely, definitely, do not a drop of anything new!

Elle are offering the Tilbury magic wand again!

I sent back the damaged CB BAC, but I just managed to pick up Sunday Riley Tidal for a great price on Vinted so very happy with that as that was the one item I was most curious about. Also picked up the Hourglass Liquid Blush in Whim for a very good price the other day. I think this has extinguished any remaining interest I had in BACs. Happy with the Harrods FAC though and might keep an eye on the Selfridges FAC.

I can’t get the code to work, but I just received this from YSL:

24h only: up to 25% off sitewide and an exclusive surprise with the code YSLSCHOOL

Cyclingmummy1 · 13/09/2026 09:45

Has anyone tried to order from Rituals this morning? I've been on the dots of doom on the payment page for about an hour with no success.

IDontHateRainbows · 13/09/2026 11:03

I'm passing Cheshire Oaks soon and have heard it mentioned on here, never been before, anything beauty related worth a visit?

MerylSqueak · 13/09/2026 11:09

About the only thing in beauty I have tried dozens of are lip balms. I'm also a big fan of blisteze but I've recently tried The Inkey List tripeptide lip balm and it's excellent: lightweight and non-sticky but moisturising.

For very chapped lips intensive care, my go to is Dr. Lipp nipple balm. Lanolin but very concentrated. You can only squeeze a tiny bit out at a time but it goes on well, isn't hugely sticky and stays really well.

Oh! I naturally blamed myself, and hadn’t considered that…

I’m sorry it happened to you too but relieved it’s not just me.

And it’s been across 4 different tubes, I have them everywhere…

Yep, same. Must go and gather them all up and dispose and start the hunt for something new - starting with my (ridiculous level) stash!

Thelifeofawife · 13/09/2026 11:46

Thanks for the new thread @OvaHere 💐

@IDontHateRainbows The main shop at CO is The Cosmetic Company, they usually have some good offers and the last couple of times I went they had extra discounts. They accept Blue Light but sometimes their own discounts are better, so best to check as I nearly got caught out once - it’s a few shops down from Ralph Lauren, sort of opposite Mulberry.

There’s L’Occitaine and Molton Brown on that side of the outlet too - on the same row as Pandora/All Saints/Guess/Timberland.

There’s another beauty shop on the opposite side of the outlet (near McDonald’s), that’s usually the cheaper brands. I can’t recall the name of that store though.

keepincool · 13/09/2026 12:21

Well, I have to give credit to CB when it's due... I ordered the Fine By Me hair edit, the Gisou Glazed Cherry hair & body mist and 5 mini perfumes just before midnight last night, and they were delivered (with free delivery) at 11:10 this morning. All present and correct.

The hair edit is good value at £32 (20% off in the app), and the Gisou had 20% off too, and smells lovely and warm, ready for autumn. I also received a free 1.5ml Fable & Mane Madurai Jasmine hair mist (the jury's out on that one).

The 5 mini perfumes were in the 5 for £5 offer.

They have 20% off lots of fragrances and discovery sets in the app, including Discothèque, Lola at the Coat Check - which someone mentioned wanting to purchase, maybe on another thread?

I think I'm going to go back and get the Discothèque discovery set for £31.20.

If anyone can find any codes that stack with the 20% offer that would be amazing 🤩

Ooh, I'm interested in the glazed cherry... Currently getting used to BDK Smoking Rouge and layering it with Coach cherry perfume, there's just a hint of medicinal/germolene smell to the BDK, what's wrong with my nose?!

Does anyone know if the 20% off in the app stacks with BDCB?

mooshkymoo · 13/09/2026 13:05

Thanks everyone for the neck cream recommendations! I was struggling to think of something I wanted for my birthday, and to use my £25 off from CB. I’ve gone for the Sisley one (with a few sneaky perfume samples added on 🤭). Will try the Trinny one next if that doesn’t work for my turkey neck. Been using the prai day and night products and not really noticed a change, but then I’m not the most consistent 😬

DidILeaveTheGasOn · 13/09/2026 13:25

The Sisley one sounds nice @mooshkymoo

BDCB does not stack with the CB app 20% discount. Of course it doesn't, bah.

SummerLimes · 13/09/2026 14:47

I’ve been considering the Sisley cream it gets great reviews.

SulkingInTheCatio · 13/09/2026 15:06

Can anyone recommend any good lip oil? The sort you put over your lipstick to give a glossy finish (so clear I guess).?

also any tinted lip balms/oils for days I might not be wearing lipstick.

It’ll be that time of year soon where my lips feel dry so want to stock up.

The clarins ones are nice. I also like the gisou ones.
