Welcome back everyone to the new thread and hello to any newbies - join us now in time for the autumnal fun. 🍂💄🌂

As always when the Advent threads are running hot this thread is a little quieter but holiday releases, sets and edits are just around the corner. I'm super excited to be going to Sephoria London in October - I still can't believe I lucked out getting a ticket.

Some exciting homegrown news -after a few technical hiccups the FB group is now searchable (but private) MN Beauty Chat Swap/Trade/Sell.* *For those interested in the group we have a few joining rules you will be asked to abide by. Thank you @MrsBnow12 @CinderellaParker for your help.

Hi I’m trying to get a foundation match online. Used findation for one and when I bought the foundation it was slightly too dark. Is there a better way of getting findation to be more a acurate please

Next beauty boxes don't get a lot of love on some threads, but I quite like them. They have a £19.50 lip edit which includes a lip oil:

  • Dr. PAWPAW, Cloud Balm in the shade Dark Rose, 5g (Full size)
  • ICONIC London, Lip Lustre Oil in the shade Watermelon Sugar Mama, 6ml (Full size)
  • Pixi, Hydra Lip Tint in the shade Nectar, 4.8g (Full size)
  • Natasha Denona, Berry Pop Lip Crayon, 1.2g (Full size)
  • MUA, Nourishing Shimmer Lipgloss in the shade Ethereal, 6.5g (Full size)

Edited

Thank you. That looks worth a try 👍🏻

The CB overnight edit is now available. Does anyone know if there is a working code?

Loads of samples with any purchase on space nk. As ever, not guaranteed.

OvaHere · Yesterday 07:28

Still undecided even with discount. I could use my points on it and buy for a few £ but is that what I want to spend the points on?

Need to leave the house now so will think it over. If the codes stop working then so be it.

Thank you. Unfortunately neither worked for me. 😞

Can anyone recommend a night cream for my DP? Despite repeated attempts he’ll only really do a two step night routine (cleanse and moisturise) and his only requirement is that the night cream ‘smell nice’. He’s in his 60s but has amazing skin with little effort (grr!).

Nope, no codes are working. I wasn't 100% sure on this edit even if a discount code was available so it decides it for me 😊

That’s a shame. I do fancy trying the Murad but the other bits are sample sizes so not sure. 🤔

How do companies afford to do edits like this?
I had never purchased from Cult Beauty before, but just joined it to buy this edit.

I’ve been using the Murad resculpt serum since the beginning of the year and usually buy it direct from Murad as they are quite good on regular offers. This means I typically either pay around £80 for it (or a few times I have managed to get their limited edition set with the eye serum reduced for around £85).

So getting it for only £45 is great. However it almost seems too good to be true and is making me feel nervous that there is something wrong with it or it’s out of date or counterfeit etc.

How can cult beauty be selling it for so much cheaper than Murad ever does itself?

I feel similarly about T K Maxx beauty products which are also suspiciously cheap.

pinkchampagne1 · Yesterday 08:41

I have gone and ordered the edit as the cheapest I could see the Murad on Vinted was £45 which is the price of the edit and I might regret it if it sells out. Apple Pay is too easy to use! 😵‍💫

I find they loss lead by having one star product and then a load of products that are maybe not shifting, not saying this is the case with this edit as I've not looked at it but found that with some of the space nk ones. Also brands will want the publicity/awareness so maybe trade some of the RRP for that.

Disclaimer - I don't work in this field, just guessing.

nearly61 · Yesterday 08:47

@IDontHateRainbows and @Reb642 I think the loss leading is right -it gets those of us, like me, who would never normally buy into expensive skincare, very interested once we see it actually does work. For me the brand I've fallen for is Augustinus Bader and it's funny because when they first started appearing in advents and edits i was convinced they were just a filler brand!!

CinderellaParker · Yesterday 10:02

I think for smaller brands without big advertising budgets the loss leader of being in an edit builds awareness. Also, people shopping at Space NK, Liberty, Cult Beauty etc are likely to be people who spend a reasonable amount on skincare and makeup so if you can include one of your best products like the Murad or some of the Medik8 serums then you might acquire a new full-price customer.

Ooh, Sephoria London sounds exciting! I’d love to hear what you think of it afterwards. And autumn beauty launches are always dangerous for my bank balance.

Chat tells me that the Murad is pretty much equivalent to my Medik8 crystal6 so I’ve gone all in & bought 2 of the edits. I had a £10 voucher burning a hole in my virtual wallet, but completely forgot to try the codes which probably would have worked at 8.30am, so am kicking myself!

I got two codes to work. Dithered, then they were switched off. 🙄Only to decide mid morning I did want to get it. I used my advent gift card and points so it was free.

Oooh how exciting to have found this thread, I have enjoyed catching up and was interested in the Cult Beauty edit so all of your thoughts have been very helpful!! Annoyingly I only found the thread this afternoon after thinking about the edit at 8am this morning when it sounds like I might have been able to use a discount code… But I’ve got a £5 CB voucher to use and only shop at CB once or twice a year so I think I should go for it, right?!

Looking foward to seeing the CB christmas edits. The packaging also looks very pretty.

@OvaHere the recommendation on Morphe cloud light just arrived and it’s perfect. Less shimmer and Matt than hourglass. Thank you! Still love those ambient light ones but bit more day time.

Brill. It's a fab powder for the price. 😍
