I never weare dresses or skirts cos of the problem I have of my thighs rubbing together and realy hurting by the end of the day. My SIL is getting married and a friend of mine has made me the most gorgeious dress and I cannot wait to wear it but dont want to wear tights (my normal way out)- any ideas of what to do so I dont end up with chafing?

Try these

EyeballsintheSky · 29/06/2008 07:56

I bought something in Boots called Lanacane anti chafing gel. Haven't used it yet but will give it a trial run today with a skirt!

Slubberdegullion · 29/06/2008 07:57

talc?

TheProvincialLady · 29/06/2008 07:58

What about one of those body shaper things that comes to just above your knees? Easily available in M&S I think.

TheChicken · 29/06/2008 08:50

this is your body saying eat less

FrannyandZooey · 29/06/2008 08:51

Lush silky undies body powder

belgo · 29/06/2008 08:53

Thechicken- how insulting. And I think you have been very influenced by the stick thin models whose thighs are a few miles apart from each other. Many real women are not like that - even the ones who are not overweight.

Flamesparrow · 29/06/2008 09:00

i saw an advert for that gel on tv

allgonebellyup · 29/06/2008 09:04

lose weight?

BeetrootBevan · 29/06/2008 09:04

do some exeercise? tone up?

TheProvincialLady · 29/06/2008 09:07

Yes because that will work so quickly that she will be able to wear the skirt this week

FWIW I am a size 6 and my thighs still rub together in the hot weather sometimes.

minorbird · 29/06/2008 09:07

vaseline! It's not just larger women who chaffe! I run and chaffe all the time - especially in warm conditions. I never leave the house without a head to toe vaselining session! I now even vaseline my feet when wearing high heels or shoes that rub. And voila! No blisters!

Flamesparrow · 29/06/2008 09:07

Weight loss etc are good long term solutions, but probably not for now. (Plus the dress won't fit)

SunSunSun · 29/06/2008 09:07

I'm a size 12 (almost an 11, 12 sometimes a bit too big but 10 too small) and my thighs rub together. It's worse in summer because of the heat. I just happen to have chunky legs.

That lancame cream is very good. I use it when I run (even though I have shorts on, it just stops the chafing between the material and legs too).

belgo · 29/06/2008 09:10

FGS, I was a slim 8 stone, and well toned, and still my thighs rubbed toger, due to the way I am made.

belgo · 29/06/2008 09:11

It's incredibly patronising to tell someone asking for style advice to lose weight and tone up.

Flamesparrow · 29/06/2008 09:12

I was only speaking from personal experience btw - I have gone from a 14 to a 10, and have really noticed the difference this summer. But saying that, my shape changed completely in that time due to coming off the pill, and the weight came off my thighs which it had never done before. So yup, shape does have a lot to do with it most likely.

BeetrootBevan · 29/06/2008 09:13

she asked for any solutions so I gave mine

MadamAnt · 29/06/2008 09:15

I think we should allow TheChicken her slim-leg smuggery. But next time she looks for a top suitable for big norks, you can suggest she steps away from the deep-fried Mars Bars.

nocluemum · 29/06/2008 10:34

Thanks for constructive tips all. BB and agbu - am now 9.5 stone and even when i was 8.5 it still happende so guess like sss I am made this way. will try the lancame cream - does it rub off on your clothes do you know...d

Avent liquid talc is fantastic and lasts all day.

And you don't have to be fat to have thighs that rub together.

hazeyjane · 29/06/2008 11:54

Sorry should add, doesn't rub off on clothes, also nice on feet, stops them feeling hot and sweaty!

TheChicken · 29/06/2008 13:27

arf at madame ant
ok here is the therad

" i am a size 28 and cant fit into a sting bikni - any solutions?"
er lsoe wight
or" ai am a size 30 AA and strapeless dresses fall off me"

wel its OBVIOUS

moshie · 29/06/2008 13:34

there was another thread on this recently, my recommendation: a quick spray of anti-perspirant at the top of each leg. works.

citylover · 29/06/2008 14:37

Sounds weird but I also found that mistakenly giving myself a Hollywood (as opposed to a Brazilian) (got into a rightmess with the hair removal cream this time has really helped!!

I realise that might be rather a drastic solution and not everyone's cup of tea but has helped me.
