I never weare dresses or skirts cos of the problem I have of my thighs rubbing together and realy hurting by the end of the day. My SIL is getting married and a friend of mine has made me the most gorgeious dress and I cannot wait to wear it but dont want to wear tights (my normal way out)- any ideas of what to do so I dont end up with chafing?

no, chingford.

expatinscotland · 29/06/2008 20:42

He said that to you! The Mersey Tunnel pelvis thing.

OMG, how mortifying when you're 17!

margoandjerry · 29/06/2008 20:43

blackwall tunnel surely more appropriate then fishie?

I'm on the rotherhithe tunnel end myself.

Aitch · 29/06/2008 20:46

oh yeah, expat, but that's if you have regular periods. for a lot of PCOSers, they wouldn't have a clue when they're ovulating, if at all, and sometimes the egg hangs around so long that it's all shrivelled and pongy so isn't much use for babies. or at least that's how it was explained to me...

margo, the thing about cotton shorts is that they ride up, i find. i tried them first, before finding out about the ime aptly-named comfort shorts.

margoandjerry · 29/06/2008 20:48

ok maybe I'll call off the search for an alternative aitch. Don't you find the comfort ones a bit scratchy? Sorry if request is TMI

fishie · 29/06/2008 20:48

it was a woman gp. [dies all over again]

Aitch · 29/06/2008 20:49

no, i don't, but then my legs don't meet that badly, it's more when i get hot. so they kinda stop them from getting hot somehow.

Aitch · 29/06/2008 20:50

a woman gp in CHINGFORD??!!!

sorry, no idea why i'm finding chingford so funny...

margoandjerry · 29/06/2008 20:51

Now I'm picturing Norman Tebbit dressed up as a woman GP delivering that message...

fishie · 29/06/2008 20:56

chingford is funny. it was the festival thingy yesterday, my mum dressed up as a suffragette to raise money for the labour party.

WheresTheAuPair · 29/06/2008 20:59

bio oil seems to really help

expatinscotland · 29/06/2008 21:00

Ah, I see, aitch. She had 'Pill periods'. In other words, she was only having regular periods because she was on the Pill.

After getting off them, she never had another, because she fell pregnant, well, each time she went off the Pill to try to get pregnant.

Now, however, she rarely has them because she had endometrial ablation for fibroids.

Aitch · 29/06/2008 21:12

gotcha, expat. lucky sister, actually, wrt the periods. although molto pooey on the endo front, that hurts like hell apparently.

expatinscotland · 29/06/2008 21:16

the fibroids made her life hell. it might have helped her to lose weight, BUT, hey it's her life and she found a solution.

she had her children in her twenties, too, may have made all the difference.

Tallis · 29/06/2008 21:24

Actually...re the "child-bearing" issue, as it was recently explained to me the phrase doesn't (as I had always thought) refer to bearing a child as in the birth element, but as in the ease-of-carting-them-around-afterwards thang.

Soooo...

I have great child-bearing hips - can jut my hip and carry babe there for hours no sweat

A rubbishly small pelvis (my first smear story is that the woman doc said it was ''shaped like a conference pear'' )

And thighs that rub together horribly

Aitch · 29/06/2008 21:27

did you spot my white comfort hose when we were at the beach, tallis? i threw caution (and possibly dignity) to the wind and put them on while standing beside your MiL. under my skirt, natch.

i went to lakeland, btw. only one herb keeper, rather gallingly, and it was cracked. it's a big thing, you know that, mia piccola pera, would take up the same space as two pints of milk in your fridge door...

Aitch · 29/06/2008 21:29

and do let me see wot i can do re. evans. i am Kicking Myself that i didn't just buy a flipping ladybird clock for 16E while i was in the shop... i may ask you to bung one over for me. what was i thinking, can you repair this for me... der, they're only 14quid, just buy another one you moron.

expatinscotland · 29/06/2008 21:32

Aitch, grow the herbs in your windowsill!

No slugs AND you won't need a herb keeper because you will have herbs on tap all the time.

Lakeland rocks! Especially for laundry products.

Aitch · 29/06/2008 21:34

we are too poor for windowsills...

Heated · 29/06/2008 21:36

my dh has child bearing hips

Tallis · 29/06/2008 21:37

Dammit, missed the comfort hose alla spiaggia. I'd have pounced on them and held them hostage. my thighs are really almost, well, raw (TMI) in this heat.

Happy to get ladybird clocks for morons. Am coming over Weds now, I think, and could pack it carefully and post to Glasgow?

ANd I think that's a narrow escape from the herb container if it's that big. WHy don't Lakeland have a scale thingy on their website (grumble grumble)

hijack over.

nocluemum, the other option, as I've been having to do in the absence of Evans' cushiony drawers, is walk like John Wayne

expatinscotland · 29/06/2008 21:37

coriander doesn't do very well, anyhow.

i have no luck with coriander.

Aitch · 29/06/2008 21:39

i did get you some klippits, some of those mad veggie bags and (cos i bought one for myself too) a set of jelly icing pens as it's about time that child was baking fairy cakes for her dad. dh is on the case with the wire as soon as this football is over.

Tallis · 29/06/2008 21:40

expat, the bourgeois herb holder was for me. My herbs curl up and die within moments of arriving on the kitchen windowsill. It's 39 deg here and I'm a rubbish watererer.

Agree re coriander. How do you stop it going all tufty?

Aitch · 29/06/2008 21:41

my nearest asian grocer assures me that his mum grows coriander in the ground, no mucking about. of course we are too poor for ground...
