I never weare dresses or skirts cos of the problem I have of my thighs rubbing together and realy hurting by the end of the day. My SIL is getting married and a friend of mine has made me the most gorgeious dress and I cannot wait to wear it but dont want to wear tights (my normal way out)- any ideas of what to do so I dont end up with chafing?

Talc

lulumama · 29/06/2008 14:41

i swear by a pair of body shaper tights cut off above the knee, give you a nice smooth line and no chafing !

Alambil · 29/06/2008 15:00

I agree with lulumama - shapers all the way!

TheProvincialLady · 29/06/2008 15:17

Do the tights not have a distractingly frilly edge where you have cut them off?

lulumama · 29/06/2008 15:18

unless you are waering something skin tight it does not matter

Alambil · 29/06/2008 15:22

something like this is designed for this problem

Aitch · 29/06/2008 15:24

jammy gave you the answer, seriously, those comfort pants things are great.
much much lighter than spanx and those sorts of slimming things. plus, i don't need to be sucked in, i just need god to have given me some decent hips so that the tops of my legs would be further apart. it's really not always a fat issue, you bad cod.

Aitch · 29/06/2008 15:28

all you people are WRONG. OP, go to the first answer you got, and order from there. don't be fooled into thinking you need a stoopid suck suit. you don't.

onthepier · 29/06/2008 16:30

Try Sudacreme, it really works!

hazeyjane · 29/06/2008 19:22

Lordy, Aitch I've just looked at the the link for the comfort shorts, at the beginning, and have visions of my lovely summer skirt blowing up in a Marilyn stylee, if anything is going to make my footballers knees look worse, it's those!

Also aren't they mighty warm?

4andnotout · 29/06/2008 19:24

I swear by the comfort shorts Jammy suggested.

paperdoll · 29/06/2008 19:37

I so don't understand, how does everyone know it is cod when cod's name is always changing? Feel as if it is a big Mumsnet secret known to all but me. sniff.

Those comfort short thingmies look excellent btw, as long as no passionate clothes-ripping-off session is expected.

Paperdoll... just look at the major typos/lack of spelling etc. Tends to give it away every time!

NotQuiteCockney · 29/06/2008 19:53

The attitude is a bit of a giveaway, too, ime.

WeeBesom · 29/06/2008 19:56

There was a new product advertised on the tv last night for this but can I remember the name? Bugger, will keep thinking and looking out for the ad and report back!

NomDePlume · 29/06/2008 19:59

To be fair to the 'lose weight' brigade, in the thread title the OP describes her own thighs as fat.

paperdoll · 29/06/2008 20:00

fair enough, thank you MarsLady. but ... is there a reason why cod changes her name so much? or is it just for the hell of it?

[intrigued/nosey ]

Sorry cod, if you see this, I don't mean to be stalker-ish. Will shut up about it now.

paperdoll · 29/06/2008 20:01

It is one thing to call your own thighs fat, different to have someone else imply you are a lardass.

margoandjerry · 29/06/2008 20:06

was going to post re the comfort shorts but find I have been beaten to it.

And now have enough time to say that sanctimonious posts about losing weight are not helpful. It's crass, frankly.

mosschops30 · 29/06/2008 20:08

Lose weight??

BeetrootBevan · 29/06/2008 20:11

yes she says FAT THIGHS

FAT THIGHS

fgs!

margoandjerry · 29/06/2008 20:14

women's thighs usually have fat on them. It's where we usually carry our fat for child-rearing. Even is she has excess fat there (and since she's 9st 5 that's not a major issue) it's almost impossible to spot reduce.

I happen to be very pear shaped so have this problem but I will never, ever have a fat stomach. That's just not where my weight goes. Shall I tell all you apple types to lose weight or would you tell me to fuck off?

Please, enough with the sanctimony and let those who have helpful answers answer.

margoandjerry · 29/06/2008 20:15

child-bearing obviously. though it's nice to have plump thighs for child-rearing - how else do you get a comfortable lap for a child to sit on?

expatinscotland · 29/06/2008 20:17

the whole 'childbearing hips' or 'childbearing shape', however, is a complete myth.

plenty of straight up and down types have absoultely no problem conceiving or giving birth.

i agree about the comfie pants.
