I'm sure I've read somewhere that the minimum spend won't apply for the edits any more so I wonder if this will be the case for the advent (disclaimer I might have made this up 😅)

I have no one irl, (apart from the recipient 😹), to appreciate my efforts, so here’s a picture of the DIY a/c that I have put together for my friend!

Edited to say: I am doing the a/c as a Lucky Dip this year, (apart from Day One which is an Angela Harding a/c that I am giving instead of a card, and Day 25 which is wrapped up at the bottom!)

Has anyone had a fragrance one before? And one they’d recommend? Weirdly I’ve just started getting into perfume and am going to go for this instead of my normal beauty one xx

I absolutely loved doing it. I have included some Kbeauty, (because she liked what was in the Boots skincare a/c last year), a range of skincare, plus some make up, Xmas earrings, a few cute Xmas decorations, perfume, a silly keyring with her initial, and Day 25 is a couple of small Toast items.

@Ilovecats127 Please don't apologise for bringing the thread down ❤️ You absolutely haven't. I think that's one of the lovely things about these threads, there's a lot of chat about advent calendars and spending far too much money, but there's also a really lovely bunch of people behind it all.

Like others, I've definitely used these threads as a distraction when things have been difficult too. I lost my 37 year old cousin unexpectedly last year (she went to sleep and never woke up 💔), she was my bridesmaid and like another sister to me, and I found having something completely frivolous to focus on was actually really helpful. Then there was my dad being really unwell, my husband's mum passing away and my dog needing emergency surgery. It's been a pretty rough year, and these threads have been a welcome escape from real life at times.

So I completely understand what you mean about the beauty and advent calendars helping you through. Sometimes you just need something nice to look forward to, something you can lose yourself in for a little while, and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that 💁🏻‍♀️

And please don't feel like you're failing. You've been through an awful lot, and the fact you've gone back to university, qualified as a health professional and built a career you're proud of is huge. Being off work because you're struggling doesn't undo any of that 🩷

Anyway, enough seriousness. You've definitely come to the right place if you need a distraction. You've already got the Harrods BAC and FAC on the way, so you're off to a very good start! 🤣🎄 And I think a few more calendars may be just what the doctor ordered😈🎁

What sort of perfume do you like? If you like designer scents then Boots is doing one. As is Look Fantastic and Fragrance Shop.

Really want the Ex Nihilo and I am curious about the FdB one. Those 2 alone pay for it, altough I would never ever spend 200 on a bottle of perfume.

Dont know Thameen, i think they have it at Douglas but not sure if its online only. Will check that one out.

I hate the Bibbi perfumes. Cannot stand them so hopefully ill get 50 or 60 euros for it. Also not really a fan of Mindgames so that will be sold too.

Even if I just like 2 of them I'll probably get them for free at the end of the day IF i would sell everything else on.

I quite like it but I don't really want it . I like the sound of The Cora but not buying an advent for it.

Anyone else fed up of waiting for spoilers? And "silly oh guess what we might have" posts? I just want to make up my mind and be done with it.

I really wanted The Cora and was hoping the other items would swing it for me but some of the other scents seem quite small, I will take another look tomorrow and maybe an unboxing will change my mind

I'm as yet undecided. Assuming it is £399 it really depends what else I buy advent wise. LiP Extrait is nice but not my favourite. If it was Blue Talisman Extrait or Gold Immortals Extrait I'd be much less on the fence.

Going to try and get to a Selfridges to smell the Ormonde Jayne and the FDB.
