@Ilovecats127 you have been through an awful lot and I think you should treat yourself kindly but treat yourself aswell to anything you fancy without guilt . A bit of self care goes a long way x

Hi just catching up on the posts. This is my first year that I’ve joined this thread, didn’t know about it until October time last year. I’ve ordered the Harrods bac and fac, first year of getting both, not had either before.
Am considering Liberty, partly as I have some credit from beauty drop, disappointed that the calendar is excluded from the Gwp. Hoping that space nk is going to be good but not sure from spoilers.

Beauty and advent calendars are what are helping to keeping me going at the moment and probably have been for a while. After been off work for nearly a year, then having to have one of our cats put to sleep at a young age due to nothing more could be done for them. After returning to work back end of last year, I was hoping things would get better. Unfortunately doesn’t seem to be the case, both of my dogs became unwell in April, one had to have an operation and the other treatment, both still on medication now, thought I was going to lose them, they are 9 and 10. Then my dad passed away in June, I got to see him just before he passed after not knowing he was unwell, I hadn’t seen him for a number of years partly due to trying to protect further upset from my childhood and parents continuing to not been there and partly so my children didn’t end up with the upset of knowing their grandparents didn’t really bother with them. Fast forward and I’m off work again because of my mental health. I had been proud of myself after going to uni again and qualifying as a health professional, earning my own money and wanted to make my children proud. But mental health and then developing physical health problems towards end of my training, have made it difficult and I do like my job. It makes me feel like I’m failing been off work. Sorry hope I haven’t brought the thread down.

Thats a rough road. I hope better things are ahead of you. Please don't be too hard on yourself. Most people would crack with just a fraction of the shit you had to deal with

Can I please thank the poster upthread who recommended Voluspa candles , I have bought 2 and they are really lovely with beautiful glass vessels that can be repurposed later .

@Sminty2 - I have that 111 Skin serum too - I think it was from the Liberty calendar in 2024. If it’s that good I have just moved it up my use-up queue once my skin settles down!

@Ilovecats127 - sorry you have had such a hard time. And I hope the chat in here and the advent calendars cheer you up. Just don’t go mad and end up with an overwhelming stash like I have done!

Quite an increase for M&S. I wonder if they’re scrapping the minimum spend this year, as a lot of people bought things just to get the advent calendar and then returned them.

Just noticed that Top Cashback is offering 6% at Fortnum and Mason and 4.5% at both Selfridges and Fenwick if anyone is considering those calendars. I couldn't see the calendars as an exclusion.

Sadly Harrods not in there.

Oh bless you. You have had a a really tough year . I really hope this thread gives you a bit of escape and adds a bit of fun . Well done on getting the HFAC , it’s my first year of getting it and it makes me happy every time I think of it .

The Space NK AC is growing on me. I wish there was a full size moisturiser in it - there's just a Creme de la Mer mini - so it's probably the 7 ml.
I would prefer an AC to include a good range of all the standard product categories. A £275 forty one item AC should really have a full size moisturiser.

@Ilovecats127 Sorry to hear what a difficult time you’ve been having. Don’t be too hard on yourself, we all have highs and lows and you will get through it, and in the meantime having a nice distraction like self care treats will lift your spirit a bit 💐
Just be warned that I stumbled upon this interest during a difficult time and these threads have enabled me to spend a fortune, and in turn have needed to increase my bedroom storage 😅

Yes, that sounds about right. I ignored it for ages and only tried it when I had an instant bright red, burning reaction to a Vit C serum one evening. I just thought what can I use … rummage rummage rummage … ah, that says REPAIR on it 😊

I slathered it on and it just calmed my skin down. I kept using it as it was open and I didn’t know how long it would last. My pores (lunar craters) shrank and the little tube lasted 3 weeks. So I bought more from V (after I had recovered from the shock of the original cost). 😱

I hope you love it too.

Re: M&S a/cs

They have used bags in the past - the last one I bought had the silvery bag - I repurposed this for my DIY calendar for my friend in Xmas 2024 so I think it was the 2023 one.

I didn’t rate M&S’ 2024 calendar, so didn’t purchase it. But I almost cracked because the bag was lovely - blue velvet.

I didn’t like 2025’s offering at all - I thought the black box was horrid and the contents worse than the previous year.

However - if I had come across any reduced to £45 I would have cracked. That was a bargain @Housewife2010!

The price information comes from a senior manager in Selfridges’ fragrance department. He described the fragrance calendar as a bargain, even at £399, and said they are trialling it this year both online and in-store.

Yes agree, the lux ones dont seem to be well thought out this year. Im not fussed about any of them which I probably a good thing for my bank account! I looked at Harrods again last night and there are 3 eye creams/eye serums. Why? And 5 hair products, im just not bothered about hair products at all really. I looked at the Holland and Barrett unboxing and though its probably one of the cheapest I would use everything in there, just 1 dod. Think ill get that as a Jadvent. I think it will be Glossybox and JL FAC for me this year.

It's why Liberty has tipped the balance for me. If Chat GPT summary is serving me correctly there are 8 perfume, 8 skin, 5 makeup, 4 hair and 4 body. A better split for me, but I know some people won't want it as fragarance heavy.
