@RainbowZebraWarrior I think it is reasonably fair too, and I am still looking forward to it arriving.

A ‘fun, out of demographic item’ is welcome here too. We should not be pigeonholed, in beauty, life or any age! ♥️

Housewife2010 · 19/08/2026 10:08

My version of counting sheep during AC time, is to curate my ideal calendar - I'm usually asleep after the first few days. 🤣

IDontKnowWhatYouMean · 19/08/2026 10:12

When do you think Harrods BAC will sell out?
I don’t LOVE it, but AI analysis says it’s easily the top match for me in terms of interests, hair/skin type etc.

I don’t think I’d be devastated if it does sell out though, which is not a good sign.

I either want something which sparks huge joy every time I think about it, or at least makes me feel like I’ve had a great bargain. Nothing is really ticking either box yet.

I sell a lot and I'd say scammy buyers are minimal. I can't think of the last time I had one. I sell >100 items a month. Maybe I'm just lucky.

I am an ebay business seller so have to do free returns so I get the occasional person who changes their mind and maybe that's why they don't scam, they can send it back anyway? Very rarely do i have problems .

You’re quite a businesswoman, love it 👏 I wish I could find a way to bring money instead of spending it 😄 I quite enjoy selling on ebay/vinted as well, gives me something to do (only here and there unwanted items). I’ve not had any issues so far.

It is usually one of the first to sell out but should stick around into September. This year’s Harrods calendar is better than last year’s IMO.
I have ordered it as there is lots that excites me in it. I will sell or gift any of the disappointing items and look for bits I fancy from other calendars on Vinted.

DaisyDooley · 19/08/2026 11:00

Well. I resisted for three threads,
Decided in Jadvent that l wasnt doing advent calenders this year.
In a moment of weakness I went looking for you all last night -and now, of course I’m obsessed.
Im going to bake and then treat myself to an hour on the sofa looking at them all.
I have been known to buy far too many and go bonkers. I’m going to limit myself to ONE this year. ONE.
Please please -if you see me weakening, bloody stop me.!!

I've just had a good look through my stash to try and deinfluence myself. Even though I sell a lot & have a student daughter who is always asking me for skincare, I still have so much.
I definitely need one though.

SheilaFentiman · 19/08/2026 11:52

It was a box last year - 25 days of beautiful

Looks like M&S are going for a box this year. It's usually some sort of bag isn't it?

https://beauty-detective.com/marks-spencer-beauty-advent-calendar-2026/

Wow, £75 this year! That’s quite an increase

SheilaFentiman · 19/08/2026 11:53

ooh, £75, I am at £48 on Sparks, I might have enough by October to get it free!!

Ilovecats127 · 19/08/2026 11:57

Hi just catching up on the posts. This is my first year that I’ve joined this thread, didn’t know about it until October time last year. I’ve ordered the Harrods bac and fac, first year of getting both, not had either before.
Am considering Liberty, partly as I have some credit from beauty drop, disappointed that the calendar is excluded from the Gwp. Hoping that space nk is going to be good but not sure from spoilers.

Beauty and advent calendars are what are helping to keeping me going at the moment and probably have been for a while. After been off work for nearly a year, then having to have one of our cats put to sleep at a young age due to nothing more could be done for them. After returning to work back end of last year, I was hoping things would get better. Unfortunately doesn’t seem to be the case, both of my dogs became unwell in April, one had to have an operation and the other treatment, both still on medication now, thought I was going to lose them, they are 9 and 10. Then my dad passed away in June, I got to see him just before he passed after not knowing he was unwell, I hadn’t seen him for a number of years partly due to trying to protect further upset from my childhood and parents continuing to not been there and partly so my children didn’t end up with the upset of knowing their grandparents didn’t really bother with them. Fast forward and I’m off work again because of my mental health. I had been proud of myself after going to uni again and qualifying as a health professional, earning my own money and wanted to make my children proud. But mental health and then developing physical health problems towards end of my training, have made it difficult and I do like my job. It makes me feel like I’m failing been off work. Sorry hope I haven’t brought the thread down.

Value £460 for £75 is 6x times value ratio 🤑could be tempted 🙂 although to be fair, there’s usually a requirement to spend ~£50 to be able to purchase it.

That is quite an increase, was 60 last year. I got it when you didn’t have to buy anything else. Think it needs to be amazing for that price.

Sadly I never struggle to spend £50 in M+S...

(ETA it was £35 in fashion, home or beauty last year, I could do that on a Floral Street 10ml and some hand cream!)

I wonder if they've increased the price but done away with the minimum spend. Lots of people were buying items and getting the BAC but then returning them (either intentionally or because they weren't suitable, with no requirement to return the BAC) so it would make sense.

SheilaFentiman · 19/08/2026 12:00

Ah, @Ilovecats127 what a tough time you are having, totally get how the advent calendars can supply a bit of much needed uplift Flowers

Housewife2010 · 19/08/2026 12:07

Last year I ended up buying 2 M&S AC when they were reduced to £45 with no minimum spend. I sold the items I didn't want & ended up with lots of useful products at a very good price.

It's always a box at Christmas. My favourite was when it came in a tin which I reuse regularly for cake.

I think the M&S advent is always good value. I find it a bit hit and miss depending on the products in it. It tends to be the same brands (which they sell obvs) which is fine but it's about the composition of those items.

SheilaFentiman · 19/08/2026 12:21

I feel like they sell more brands now than in days of yore, so mayyyybe there will be new stuff this time...

Sorry life's been tough @Ilovecats127 . It's good that beauty, advents etc are giving you some comfort - we need to find solace and joy where we can. I've had a lesser but still awful time this year with a HUGE falling out with DM and not-so-D-StepDad and devoting more time to self-care has unexpectedly made me feel better.

I'm not sure if you also visit the Beauty Chat - GWP and offers thread but this one and there are two of the nicest places to be on Mumsnet, albeit enabling!

RainbowZebraWarrior · 19/08/2026 13:05

Sorry to hear about your awful year @Ilovecats127 sending hugs.

Totally get why treating ourselves during tough times is a comfort. We have struggled here this last few months and it's nice to have beautiful things to love and cherish to help nourish our soul.

And with that in mind, I have just bagged a 180g Parfums de Marly Christmas candle from Vinted for £15. Very happy with that!
