Here's hoping for lots more spoilers, bargains, discount codes, and maybe a little self-control (although judging by threads 1 and 2, that seems unlikely! 😄)

Fragrance is just about the only think I may come vaguely close to being able to justify. I’m bursting at the seams with makeup and skincare without the help of BACs!

Mine recommended in the instructions to pour a little off the top, if the scent starts to fade.

I really like the idea of Jo Malone, but cost to value (£375 and worth £597) is just so much less than other calendars that it's hard to justify. I'm sure I'd use everything in it eventually, but I suspect I'd be better treating myself to a couple of full price items that I've chosen, rather than buying the calendar.

I know, I know, far too sensible and not in the spirit...!

@bookshark I totally agree! Even though you know they're all stocked products, it just doesn't feel aa much of a good deal!

Yep. It certainly isn't a massive saving compared with other AC's

I switched my sensible head on around JM after falling in love with the sneak peaks, and actually don't think I can justify / afford almost £400 on fragrance. I guess it depends how much money you have at the end of the day.

I suppose some of us here earn 25k a year and some might have millions (and everything inbetween)

I never find the single branded calendars as good value as the big stores. I often buy a few of the JM limited editions at Christmas and enjoy those more than I did the year I got the calendar. Esp if you can wait until BF when they also have a nice gwp. The advent has often sold out by then.

Thanks for the new thread @JoRaRaRa and thank you @OvaHere for getting the AC party started. I enjoy these threads and the opening threads more than the actual calendars 😂I'm also attempting to get an FAC only this year, although if Cult Beauty had some Skinceuticals in it I might miraculously change my mind. Technically the Harrods BAC would be worth it for me considering the RRP cost of the bits I do want, so I'm not ruling out me caving on that - I've said I'm not buying one 2 years in a row now and then bought late september just before they sold out.

I think JM looks lovely this year but I'm very unlikely to buy it. I like some of their fragrances but I'm not crazy about them. I prefer the hand wash, candles etc. but that's not a solid reason to buy such an expensive advent.

You and I can have a little support group. I also have the Harrods FAC and am trying to limit it to that

Re Jo Malone, I'm far more interested in their scents than their other products, so I've bought their Christmas themed sets of 5 x 9ml colognes a few times. I love them and they are far better value for me.
The Boots Skincare AC looks promising. I bought it last year at 20% off and was impressed by it. There were some great products for me and several for my teenagers' stockings.

I had that last year and really enjoyed it. Bought it before the discounts though☹️.

Thanks for the enthusiastic support for my possible / probable/ ok-we-all-know-it’s-happening step into the world of BACS & FACS. And @BeanNaGealai made me giggle: full on encouragement for me to buy two, followed by suggesting @JoRaRaRa might be leading her astray in turn 🤣🤣🤣

JL looks like great value and very usable (yup, I’m 52!!) but it doesn’t make my heart beat faster….Harrods still has the edge for me, at the moment, I think. Plus the lack of elasticiser feels like a win!

I’m nothing of not inconsistent 😂

And to be honest, I don’t need much leading. I can find astray all by myself.

Once again I'm thinking “I’ve found my people” 😁

The boots premium looks to be repetitive from last year- I can make out SDJ spray, aveda botanical repair (strong guess!) Nars eyeshadow stick, colour wow.

I enjoyed this calendar last year!

Any Sol de Janeiro is a DoD for me. I use the shower oil from last year's Space NK AC to shave my legs, but I'm not keen on the gourmand scents.

Okay, my heart has just stopped. I’ve just gone on my banking app and noticed I’ve got a chunk more money than I should have, and it’s because the Harrods transactions are no longer showing as pending 🫠
I’ve checked my Harrods account and the orders are showing as pending there. I’m so confused 😰

I would go by the Harrods account. But I would also make sure there is enough money in the account so it doesn't bounce when it's charged. A lot of companies don't charge until they ship and there is a big gap between the initial check on your account and the final payment so hopefully all it is is that your bank don't keep the hold if they haven't charged with so many days.

Don't worry too much, we had this last year and it all went through fine. Just make sure you keep enough money there so when they go for it again, it doesn't bounce.

I also like the idea of Jo Malone but it’s a big price. I might buy 4 or 5 of the 9ml bottles instead and insert into my Frankenstein calendar…

Wow, it was still the first thread last time I looked. I said I was definitely going to get the CB calendar this year as I have £75 credit with them. Then I saw the first sneak peek. I have the Patrick Ta blush already, hate red lipstick and don't use lip liner. Also I'm rocking the 200ml of the CT setting spray so I don't need a travel version. So I'm out on the CB one. Now I'm looking forward to seeing what SpaceNK, Selfridge's and Sephora contain and I'll be getting one or two of those.

I thought the JL had elasticizer in it at first and my heart sunk. Thankfully its actually a PK 50ml frizz fighting gloss so I'm happy to try that as I'm a curly girl.

Elasticizer and Colour Wow are still nemesis for me. And Dr Paw Paw. I don't mind Sol de Janeiro, but I'd rather not. Also, Eyelash curlers and those hair clip things that were everywhere last year and the year before. Nuxe gets a bit boring after a while, but is always usable.

I'm going to go through the contents of last year's Anthropologie later and give myself a surprise all over again as I've only used one thing (weirdly, the silk scrunchies) and haven't touched the rest!

Sdj was in nearly every calendar last year, it doesn't seem to be appearing as much this year. I suppose that could change though...

I’ve ordered the JL and the F&M ones. Now looking for my 13 year old daughter so looking at the lower end of the budget and trying to avoid too much skin care though so loves it! Any recommendations for young teen advent calendars?
