I'm not keen on the frill just below the elbow, but the skirt and shirt combination looks fresh and unfussy.

The frill on the sleeve reminds me of old-fashioned nurse's uniforms (Sue Barton Student Nurse!) with the things to hold up sleeves. I do like the white though.

A friend just sent me a photo of her standing next to QEII's wedding dress at the exhibit. Her mother worked on the embroidery and was very proud of it - as is my friend. She mentioned it to the docent who asked her to email the curators about her mother's memories of this. It would be a lovely oral history - the women who worked on the dress.

That would be lovely. The embroidery is exquisite, isn't it? Such skill and patience.

My mother had a friend whose cousin was an ecclesiastical embroidress. Lots of blingy threads. What a lovely skill....they would all be well over 100 now but their stories were never recorded.

The wedding dress was one of my highlights. I am very much an amateur embroidery so I appreciate the skill involved. Tell your friend her Mum did a lovely job.

It has been announced William will be going to King Harald's funeral. Anne is going privately as she is King Haakon's godmother.

C&C look as if they're having a great time, they always enjoy the Games. Very Caledonian attire, as usual! Yes, I didn't realise Anne is Haakon's godmother.

what a gorgeous little girl and lovely outfit. I saw Jetsun appeared in the most beautiful women thread on MN recently. I love her traditional clothes and doubt she will ever be photographed in anything else but I would love to see what she looks like in western wear too.
