The end of summer lies ahead, but we're hoping for more bling!

Her father the king of Denmark insisted she had to at least finish school before getting married! But they were married, seemingly very happily, for 59 years before Constantine’s death, despite some dicey episodes when they were forced to flee Greece (I think Anne Marie was pregnant at the time and lost the baby).

There's a lovely slideshow on the Norwegian RF's Instagram account of Harald and Sonja over the years to commemorate what would've been their wedding anniversary. It's made extra poignant by being set to Dolly Parton's version of I Will Always Love You.

This was one of the photos. I love Sonja's 60s coat, it's so chic. Martha Louise and Ingrid look so much like her.

I like the sound of the Serene Highness title (noting it’s a lower rank than HRHs), I could live with an HSH title!

There's a bit in Nancy Mitford's The Blessing where they're walking through a Parisian cemetery and the heroine's husband mocks a tomb where the family have upgraded themselves from SAS (son/sa altesse serene - HSH) to SAR ( son/sa altesse royale - HRH). NM was a roaring snob, of course, but iis vg at mocking that in others.

No coronation in Norway but Haakon took the oath today, with Ingrid by his side as MM is still not well enough to attend. She can now be regent in her father's absence and looked very regal today.

Harald, and Olav before him, had a consecration ceremony in the cathedral in addition to the swearing in. I wonder if Haakon will do that as well.

Ingrid looks so poised and graceful. It’s must be mind blowing to think the next time this all happens I’ll be Queen. I hope she has great support for preparing for the role.

Morning! Yes, I got very interested in Grace Kelly and the Grimaldis. One of my bookshelves is entirely this subject, plus the D&D of Windsor!
