Beauty & Fragrance Advent Calendars- Info/Chat 2026 SPOILERS

Hi everyone who is joining from the Beauty GWP chat threads and welcome to anyone else.

Last year our lovely @BakeOffRewatch did an amazing job running all the threads through to December. This year due to the time commitment it takes, we're going to try and run them as a community effort.

Guidelines
I'm starting this first one but hoping that when a thread looks close to ending another thread member can set the next one up.

To avoid duplicate threads please try to post in the thread that's ending to alert everyone you're setting up a new one.

Other members check who was first to offer and whether a new one is live.

It might be an idea to keep a list of advents that are live in the OP and later on which are sold out. This can be copy/pasted/edited when a new thread is started.

It probably goes without saying but please be courteous and patient with each other. This thread will have spoilers and please no judging of others for their purchasing choices. Participation in the threads is optional.

I don't know how well this will work out but thanks in advance to everyone who helps out.

There's a number of others with waitlists open and it's been announced that the 3 Harrods calendars are coming soon.

SNK had a rust/brown colour last year I think. Was it Hourglass? I passed that on to a friend as it really wasn't my shade.

I think I sold mine. I suit more neutral tones, or sheer plums. But it’ll be the skin care that decides which one - last year loved SNK mix of products. Enjoyed Harrods too, but SNK for me was better.

I sold the hourglass one too. Even if it suited me, I just knew I'd never wear it.

This is the Sisley in 20. Too light/warm/peachy for me (won't put me off getting the BAC though). CT pillow talk is actually a good shade for me, I wear it regularly.

Thanks, that shade looks really different to the one on the website. Maybe they put the wrong photo up.

They do have several different variants of the phyto rouge lipstick - as well as the normal one there's Velvet, Shine, and a lip balm. I swatched shade 20 in all of them and they were all different (although only the classic one is called Rose Portofino). Maybe it will turn out that it's a different variant in the BAC.

If you're still at the shops, will you swatch the Charlotte Tilbury one? They look quite similar in the BAC photo.

Sorry, I'd already left when I saw this. But I own the CT one and they seemed very different to me. They stock both in John Lewis if anyone's there another time

Im guessing your trying to be helpful ? The thing is you’re not reading the room . This thread is about fun and anticipation and support and advice . It’s more than a simple ‘choose your AC’ and truly you may be out of your depth with your comment . These are seasoned experienced beauty aficionados.

But surely the JOY of an advent calendar is the surprise each and every day of December. But most folk here will know the exact contents of each and every advent calendar before we hit autumn. Where’s the joy in that?

@Clarissaclaire I understand why it’s confusing but the best way I can describe it is this is my hobby. There is so much joy in comparing, analysing, discussing, sharing that hobby with others.

@Clarissaclaire I understand what you mean about the surprise element, and if we were talking about a £10 calendar, I would agree with you. But when you’re spending between £100-400 then I think most people would like to know what they are getting before they spend their money. I love my advent calendars each year but I spend hours looking at the contents before I decide what to buy. Like most people, I like some types of items more than others - for example, I am very very particular about the make up I wear and never use cleansers, but I love perfume and different types of face cream. If Im paying a lot for an advent calendar then of course I want to know what Im getting beforehand so that I won’t be disappointed if I get a red lipstick that is worth £35 and that I will never use.

No confusion here, I assure you. From where I am standing the whole ethos of an advent calendar is being killed way before we get to December. We are all entitled to our opinions, your hobby is comparing, analysing and discussing these ACs and you clearly enjoy it, so crack on.

I bought the F&M AC last year, and I had no idea of the contents. I spent good money without knowing what exacly I’d be getting. In December I felt like that little girl of Christmas past, every day opening a drawer and being completely surprised. That was magic.
Yes, there were one or two items that were perhaps not for me, but the majority were very welcome.

Perhaps you have a good memory, but mine is awful. I need to know what's in an advent calendar before I order, to know whether I will use / like most of the contents, otherwise there's no point in buying it. But there's months between ordering and opening, and I will have completely forgotten what's in it by then, so it will still be a nice surprise.

To be honest, I look at the contents so early that there's no way I'll remember exactly what's in there by December, I'll just know that it was the best calendar for me.

I wish I was like that sometimes!
My memory is a bit too razor sharp.

@Clarissaclaire i have exactly the same feeling as you with my advent calendars but because I had known what was in each in advance, I wasn’t disappointed. By the time it came to open them, I had forgotten what was in each one. I also think it’s a bit different with the perfume calendars - they are mostly 12 day calendars and many people probably wouldn’t buy one unless they were perfume lovers. But the main beauty advent calendars include make up, hair care, nail varnish, moisturisers, serums, cleansers, night creams, perfumes, and other beauty items, from a very wide range of brands, and I think there is a very much higher chance of getting multiple items that you don’t want if you can’t make comparisons before you buy. As others have said, people on these threads enjoy the discussion about the contents and making comparisons before they buy.

Tbh when I was a kid, advent calendars were just about the countdown to Christmas and didn't include daily gifts anyway, you opened a door and it was a little picture, like a robin, or the star of Bethlehem, then Christmas eve was a picture of a baby in a manger - so these beauty advents are never going to make me feel like 'that little girl of Christmas past' because they are an entirely different thing for me. I think one year my mum made one using an advent with fabric pockets with something in each one, but I was a bit older then (10 maybe?) so it doesn't feel like a daily surprise gift is a traditional part of Christmas magic particularly. Anyway, I'd be gutted to blind-buy, there's no single retailer that I trust so completely to drop £200-300 on their choices with no prior knowledge of contents. I've got a pretty good memory but the actual order of gifts is never fully revealed so there's always an element of surprise and appreciation if the calendar has been thoughtfully compiled.

Completely agree with this. There’s no way I’d spend that much money without researching and working out which one is best for me. We all have different requirements and these threads are generally very good for discussion without putting other people’s choices down.
