Are these sandals nice or horribly unfashionable

I’m 38 and don’t know what’s cool and what’s not.
Are these cool?

If you can try in the shop that would be easiest. From my experience the 4 or the 4.5 is likely too small. If online I'd try the 5 or 5.5

I think I’ll just forget them. The only remotely accessible bricks and mortar stockist doesn’t sell the women’s range. I don’t need more sandals, it was a whim.

hatorgal · 23/05/2026 12:10

If vogue says something is fashionable then you will get people who will wear regardless of what they look like.🤷‍♀️Throwing money at them doesn't make them look any better.

Edited

But OP specifically asked if they were fashionable. And they are.

By whose definition ? Vogue?

hatorgal · 23/05/2026 12:23

I think they're a summer staple now .

MeetMeOnTheCorner · 23/05/2026 14:36

@hatorgal I would say vogue are in a better place to judge fashion trends than randoms on MN who have no idea whatsoever! Red magazine is also a decent source of trends.

Oh thank goodness for Vogue - heaven forbid that women on MN would have an opinion on whether something that people at a magazine tell us is fashionable is actually gorgeous/stylish/etc or not.

That's the brilliant thing about getting older - many of us no longer care what Vogue tells you should be spending ££££££s on (and more so if we can remember when they were worn the first time and looked rubbish then too).

BIossomtoes · 23/05/2026 16:20

We all have different opinions on what constitutes gorgeous/stylish. My choices are regularly mocked on MN because they don’t conform to the cookie cutter tastes of S&B.

OP asked if the sandals are fashionable, she didn’t ask if people like them. The answer is that they’re fashionable but MN is vying to tell her they’re awful when she never asked that.

MeetMeOnTheCorner · 23/05/2026 16:43

@SirChenjins You have no idea do you? The British Vogue website has very reasonably priced clothes featured. It’s very useful to see what the high street offers and how it compares to high end.

I’m 70 and I’m interested in fashion. I don’t want to be a dinosaur looking like a has-been from my youth. I like a refresh and new fashion ideas. It’s exciting and it’s what fashion is all about.

The op asked whether these sandals were fashionable right now. The answer is yes. Whatever you think, and your personal style, is irrelevant. Try reading something about fashion influences and design - you might be surprised that not everything is expensive. Red magazine is very good at picking out value buys.

Blue44Lady · 23/05/2026 18:13

Who cares? As long as YOU like them and, most importantly, they are comfortable, then that's all that matters. 'Fashion' is way too over-rated.

BeRedHam · 23/05/2026 18:20

I really like them.
I don't like most of each foot bare, especially my toes :)

FrankieDoodle0103 · 23/05/2026 18:27

I’ve worked in high-end high street fashion for my whole career and I think they are fab! I also think it doesn’t matter what’s ‘cool’ and what’s not - if you like them, buy them :) coolness = confidence x

FunMustard · 23/05/2026 18:32

I would rather die than wear those OP <dramatic>

But then, I'm currently wearing Birkenstock clogs so what the hell do I know?!

Secondbreakfastclub · 23/05/2026 19:01

Cool or not, they look like the sandals my 80 year old dad wears on holiday.

However, if you like them, wear them. That’s all that matters. I’m in Florida at the moment and I wore white crocs with trainer socks to the parks the other day to give my feet a break from my trainers (averaging 23k steps a day in intense heat). Bonus was taking my socks off for the water rides so no soggy footwear

No12worryabout · 23/05/2026 19:07

I have to be really honest with you. They would be ok for a walk around the village without socks, but I wouldn't wear them, I would try looking for a little more sporty summer shoes/ sandals if you want a cool look. 😊

Amiacoolorwarmcolour · 23/05/2026 19:14

I like them but they are very expensive.
I think they are super trendy.

ChristmasRager · 23/05/2026 19:24

Yes they’re cool

MeetMeOnTheCorner · 23/05/2026 19:29

@Blue44LadyFashion in the uk is a big industry. It’s not over rated. It’s how we keep up to date and renew ourselves or we just wear the same old stuff for years on end and slip into old age and are never noticed again. Living well for some of us is having an interest in fashion. I’d never ever buy crocs.

BassBug · 23/05/2026 19:44

Avocadoo · 21/05/2026 13:58

Photos of both to save clicking links.

They are lovely if early Christian core is your thing 😂 I imagine they are great at walking on water and sharing your tuna sandwiches with the multitude!

I've never followed fashion, but I certainly don't wear the same old stuff. I make many of my own clothes and know what suits me and what doesn't. Beats being part of the herd

NellB1960 · 23/05/2026 19:57

Buy them because you like them and don't be swayed by what other folk think. Personally I'd not pay that much for either pair. Markies, Very, Schuh and even Tesco sell similar sandals for a fraction of the price however it's your money and spend it how you enjoy it 😊

HJC88 · 23/05/2026 20:05

I love them 😍 but then I'm nearly 61, I make my own clothes and I don't care what people think ... Make of that what you will.

Corknut · 23/05/2026 20:25

Depends what you wear them with! Cool scandi vibes yes otherwise maybe not

LubyLooTwo · 23/05/2026 20:25

They look a bit frumpy.

Fionuala · 23/05/2026 20:26

They are cool
Anything classic is cool
