I’m 38 and don’t know what’s cool and what’s not.
Are these cool?

This thread is the funniest I've read in a long time...

Jesus Creepers
Old Latin teacher
Pervert Man shoes

These sandals are the gift that keeps on giving 😂

They are all true though 😂😂😂

hatorgal · 21/05/2026 22:33

Divebar2021 · 21/05/2026 22:32

Who deems them not to be ?

Exactly ? It's all a load of bollocks 😂

steff13 · 21/05/2026 23:19

I think Jesus would like them.

So long as you don't wear them with a pair of white socks you'll be fine.

Ha,ha,ha!

What about pink??

ForeverTheOptomist · 21/05/2026 21:06

OMG I can't believe that you said that!!

True though!

I love them. I wore a similar pair today with fishnet tights and black summer dress. I'm 49 but also dress like a kids TV presenter who started on the crack.

SquirrelGG · Yesterday 02:11

Well I like them and would wear them, and lots of young people wear similar here (I am far from being young btw). Honestly,Confused I don't get the hate for them on here.

Ruthietuthie · Yesterday 02:42

I used to have sandals like this as a child in the 1970s and 80s. Reminds me of having an ice-cream in Landudno while wearing a cagoule. If that's the look you are going for, they are perfect.

Flomingho · Yesterday 02:46

I like them. The second pair are my favourites.

They're a classic style but toast is not a place for trendy clothes, that's more like Zara, Bershka, Monki, Cider, H and M... Toast and Cos march to the beat of their own drum. They are a middleclass too intellectual for trends type of dresser.

Yes but the places you mention, some of them will definitely stock very similar.

OP - Even the apparently gorgeous/sexy sandals some people won't like. I think 'yours' are lovely, if you also like them buy them....simples.

Yes this is the impression they give.

Agree! I’m 46 and love clumpy shoes. I think they’re great. I used to wear DMs with long gothic skirts in my teens 😂

I am frequently amazed by what others consider to be fashionable here. Fisherman sandals, keens, etc are all very “in”.

Being 'in' doesn't make them nice. Look at crocs!

Spot on description!

The first ones are just about ok. The second pair - I think my grandad has an identical pair. He wears them with white socks and knee length shorts in the summer.

That's a sexy look!

It depends on what your idea of “nice” is. I love crocs!

Can I ask you why? I'm genuinely interested.

Lobelia123 · Yesterday 09:52

To be honest they are completely hideous.

FruAashild · Yesterday 10:07

Wearing mine today thanks to this thread. It was inevitable fishermans sandals would become fashionable, Gen Z don't like toes and fishermen's sandals cover your toes while being much cooler and smarter to wear than trainers.

What a nasty comment.

If she was wearing thick glasses in 2026, it indicates a very very complex prescription and difficult to correct eyesight or at best a person who cannot afford thinning for a complex prescription (the cost for such prescriptions is usually £600 plus).

Therefore at worst your comment is disablist and at best just utterly unkind.

Thesleepykettle · Yesterday 10:26

My Dad used to wear sandals like this in his 60’s, 30 years ago. I’m all for sensible shoes but in this case, it’s a no from me.

I love Crocs too and are glad they’re back in. Very comfy. 😁. Dd has gone backpacking to Europe and put a photo on instagram of everyone in the hostel doing a foot circle photo and they’ve all got cream crocs on 😂. So I’m sure they’ll be out of fashion again soon

I like the look of them. To me they’re cute and kind of ugly at the same time, which makes them fun. A bit weird but I like that and they’re super comfortable. It’s good we don’t all like the same things!
