Tea dress for Italian honeymoon

TeaChocKitKat · 07/02/2026 09:25

Im 45 and getting married in Italy in May. I'm 5ft tall and a curvy size 12/14 (days of being a size 8 are gone in spite of my best efforts to lose weight so feel quite self conscious about that). I'd like to get a couple of nice flattering dresses for while we are away. I find A line flattering so Im thinking of tea dresses. I'm blonde and have fair skin.
I dont want to spend too much, certainly less than £100 on each.
Any suggestions?

Women's Tea Dresses | Floral Prints & Vintage Dresses | Joe Browns https://share.google/W1fZAbiq1YjL2AUXw

Joe brown has several on sale only thing is you may need to get some taken up. If thata not a issue I would look.

KnickerlessParsons · 07/02/2026 10:54

Get yourself to SeaSalt! They specialise in that kind of dress for “ladies of a certain age”.

NorthFaceofthelaundrypile · 07/02/2026 11:37

Blimey! Is 45 now a “lady of a certain age!”

gototogo · 07/02/2026 11:53

Definitely look in person in places like Seasalt, fatface, white stuff but wait a few weeks as summer clothes aren’t in yet. Also do look at Joe browns (you may need to size up) try M&S too. Have a look ina big mall basically before trying online

SiobahnRoy · 07/02/2026 12:01

Finery has some great tea dresses in at the moment

LIZS · 07/02/2026 13:30

Crew?

Summerhillsquare · 07/02/2026 14:04

Jigsaw used to be my go to for this kind of dress. Not much at the moment but there is a sale on. This looks nice www.jigsaw-online.com/collections/dresses/products/spray-floral-satin-bias-dress-purple

NorthFaceofthelaundrypile · 07/02/2026 14:24

What about me really nice one from Rixo, rather than two cheaper ones…

Their email this morning had holiday stuff so they might have summer bits available

Try nobody’s child, they do some lovely dresses, the fabric is lovely and they have a petite range

John Lewis has a lot of Hope & Ivy dresses on sale at the moment. And/or look at Nobody's Child

Goldbar31 · 07/02/2026 18:04

Love that dress!

TKMaxx actually have quite a bit of Rixo in at the moment - some around the £60 bracket.

Joanie used to do great tea dresses but they have just gone bust. You may find some on Vinted.

OneNewEagle · 07/02/2026 19:05

Have a search through the dress section on wallis, i find some of the dresses don’t seem to be in the correct category so there’s probably more choices than this

Please don’t go to Fatface or Seasalt. They’re so frumpy!! They will look extra frumpy in Italy. I don’t know why they have such a hold over the women of mumsnet.

This is liberty and only £65

This is slightly over budget but is very dolce and gabbana: https://www.marksandspencer.com/floral-midaxi-tea-dress/p/clp23053106#intid=pid_pg1pip48g2r3c1%7Cprodflag_Just%20Arrived

@Wtfdoidoplease How is that Liberty dress any less frumpy than anything in Seasalt or Fatface? It looks like it could easily be sold by them!

Ohdearinthedoghouseagain · 07/02/2026 17:03

Nobody's Child came to mind for me too.

Nothing I’ve ever seen in either store could be mistaken for a Liberty print by anyone discerning, and the way it’s cut is far superior. I just went on Seasalt to have a look and their prints are hideous.

Have a look at The Outnet. Some massive savings.
