See here!

Looks a bit clearer than last year as they have provided lists of models per category.

Largest category has gone up to £34.95 from £30 though.

Can anyone tell me what size Gatwick is suitable for free luggage on budget airlines? I am looking for a bag for swimming and a bag for budget airlines but haven’t seen a Gatwick in real life! What is the difference between the Heathrow and the Gatwick?

It depends on the airline. For example easyJet free size is 45x36x20 so you'd only get a small on (43cm x 27cm x 16cm) because the medium is 51cm long. All of them are too big for Ryanair which is 40x30x20. I bought a specific non-Roka bag for Ryanair from Amazon for about £15 which makes it easier.

@Maidenjourney The gatwick are the carry handle holsall bags. The small gatwick works for ryannair and other budget airlines. We use ryannair and logannair every month. Gatwick small is suitable for free under seat luggage. Medium gatwick is for cabin. The measurement of the bag if stuffed full would be slightly too long for ryannair but they dont measure the bag and it isflexible so as long as you dont pack it too full it does fit fine.

The heathrow range is one size only. Much large duffel bags holding 50 litres. Tgey are too big for free luggage on budget airlines but they are designed to fit in the cabin. They can be carried as a holdall as well as a backpack as it has steaps. It would be too big for a swimming bag.

I would look for a small gatwick or a city duffel. I just got a city duffel for swimming. Its quite long but more flexible fabric than a gatwick so if you dont pack it too full it will fit under the seat on ryannair. City duffel is also cheaper.

Hope tgat helps!

Maidenjourney · 07/02/2026 16:20

I am looking for a small Gatwick and possibly a large one, plus a Belsize cross body bag in small, in teal or blue.

I passed my citron small Bantry on to my friend. I decided to keep the Stratford- I didn’t think it was an equitable swap for her small Carnaby wallet, (although I did quite like the cute little zipped sections).

DS2 has snaffled the medium army Canfield, so I have avoided any returns.

Jins · 07/02/2026 19:09

I was expecting to return my small citron bantry but I’ve surprised myself. I don’t love it but I don’t hate it. I’m going to see how I feel at the end of the month.

IlovePond · 07/02/2026 19:36

@Jins - I really liked the Citron Bantry too. Unfortunately, I got a Custard canvas Bantry last year so two yellows were not needed. My friend really likes the one I passed on to her.

The Bantry is a very cute little bag.

Jins · 07/02/2026 20:20

@IlovePond tbe small bantry is my absolute favourite Roka bag. I use my black one everyday and I have one in cranberry as well.

Citron I’m not so keen on. I really don’t like yellow but it is an inoffensive yellow. There are so many of them up for swaps that I don’t think I’ve got much chance of swapping for a colour I prefer but I’m going to make my mind up whether to return it or not in a few weeks

IlovePond · 07/02/2026 22:21

@Jins - I was having a look on eBay and I reckon you would stand a pretty good chance of selling it if you put it on at LD price plus postage. Though, tbf, it might be less hassle just to return it!

Jins · 08/02/2026 06:23

@IlovePond it’s that old hassle va money dilemma again. I’ve surprised myself by not hating it at first sight and it’s quite a summery colour so it might do better later in the year on Vinted or eBay. Return for credit seems the most likely but there’s no rush for that

I must try to resist dipping next year if they do it again. I’d restrict myself to the cheapest but the risk of a hat or umbrella puts me off.

Do be aware that for Ryanair "they don't measure the bag" has not been my experience at all. On my recent flight from Bristol they made every single person put their bag in the sizer at the gate. They got one chance to shuffle the contents and then try again before paying. I personally think it's a risk taking one that is an inch and a half too long and means you can't pack it full.

@Jins A small Bantry in Citron sold very quickly on Vinted yesterday evening at dip price, if you did decide to sell it.

ignatiusjreilly · 08/02/2026 11:22

I'm really happy with my lucky dips: a medium Canfield in baroque and an XL Oval crossbody in teal (exactly the same as somebody else here received).

The colours are lovely and both bags are a very useful size.

Glad I took the plunge this year... I've enjoyed following these threads for the last couple of years. I love seeing what everyone got!

Before I buy new, does anyone have a small Gatwick or small Belsize bag they want to sell?

manpan1 · 08/02/2026 18:08

@Maidenjourney sorry I got a swap for the small gatwick last night. There should be a few on ebay / vinted because a lot of people received them in the LD

Maidenjourney · 10/02/2026 21:22

I have just opened my parcels and don’t really want any of it. How much does it cost to return things and is the money refunded rather than giving store credit?

IlovePond · 10/02/2026 21:27

@Maidenjourney - you can either return free for store credit or request a return form online. I think they then deduct the cost of that postage - £3.95? - from your refund.

It’s a shame you don’t like your order. What did you get?

If you could be bothered, the Roka LD bags usually sell very quickly on eBay or Vinted if you list them on or about LD price plus postage.

I sold a Chelsea last year within a few days because I sold it for cost.

Maidenjourney · 10/02/2026 21:40

I am looking for a Gatwick in small or medium . I have two Canfields in Retro blue and Aquatic, a Heathrow in Burnt orange, Jubilee in Purple , a green tote bag (!), a a Trafalgar in Corn and a Canfield in Stormy.

I might keep the blue Canfield.

Any takers?

I think it was - maybe - @manpan1 who was looking to swap a Gatwick for a Heathrow???

Otherwise - those bags would sell very quickly if you put them on eBay or Vinted at reasonable prices. They are all decent colours as well.

The Heathrow in particular is a very sort after bag.

I like that retro blue Canfield - definitely a keeper if it was mine! The Trafalgar grew on me as a bag. The purple beast I got in last year’s LD is my best work bag ever!

manpan1 · 10/02/2026 22:38

@Maidenjourney @IlovePond Ah thank you for thinking of me. I just agreed to swap with someone on facebook but the heathrow hasn't arrived yet so let's wait and see if it turns up. The heathrows are so popular. If it doesn't arrive I will definitely let you know and would love to swap. That's a lovely selection of bags. The Canfields are great backpacks. Even our teenage son says he loves his! Will keep you posted on the heathrow / gatwick swap thank you!

IlovePond · 10/02/2026 22:47

Adult DS2 has taken the military tonal medium Canfield to work this week and it would appear that it is meeting his exacting requirements 🤣

It’s actually quite a nice colour when seen outside in natural light - much less ‘army’ than it looked in the house!

Meanwhile I am looking at my lovely Moorgate and Stratford bags admiringly, whilst wondering when I will actually get round to using them!

Really I’m surprised the purple bag holds enough as a work bag. I do like the aquatic and blue Canfields actually and might keep them, but I already have a green one. OH needs a new rucksack for his hobby so he could have one. I don’t like the Heathrow or the purple bag. The yellow one is OK but I’m not mad about it.
