I got one for Xmas and love it! Mines a camo one too 😆

notacooldad · 29/12/2025 10:36

Dry robes are excellent for what they are designed for.
I thinknthere are better options for dig walking. I love my Trespass quilted coat that goes past my knees. I love my dry robe for getting changed after a swim.

CrotchetyQuaver · 29/12/2025 10:37

Do it, I have a couple and do the horses in them every day. They're fine to walk in (there's a lot of walking involved in keeping hoses) and very popular with horsey people! Where I live there are a lot of dry robe wankers about! Possibly near you as there are a couple of marinas in my town!

HerVagestyTheQueef · 29/12/2025 10:46

Got one for Christmas! Fully paid up wanker now. I swim in the sea year round but have been out for walks in it, too.

If you go for an actual DryRobe get a size smaller than they suggest if it’s not for changing under; they’re massive.

They are massive. I bought one but sent it back as most of my dog walks involve a car journey first and I don’t think I’d get my seat belt fastened and be able to drive.

There is a FB page devoted to dry robe wankers of course.

You could have a look at Rein Coats too. They are a horsey brand (hence the spelling) and similar to Dry Robes.
My daughter has one & it’s great for dog walking.

OP- have you ever tried walking in an actual dry robe? They are massive as designed large to be able to change clothes underneath. DH and I have them because we swim in the sea almost daily. I only wear it to/from the sea. No way would I walk the dog or walk elsewhere in it. No only due to the dry robe wanker aspect, but mainly because the base is very large, so it can be tricky to see your feet and easy to trip on uneven ground.

Some brands do make slim line versions which aren't as massive as designed more as a coat than a changing robe. I'd look those up if you want it for walking.

do you swim during winter ? where on the coast pls?

statetrooperstacey · 29/12/2025 11:05

I’ve got a copy cat one from home bargains , it’s khaki green with an orange fleece lining , £20 ish , bloody brilliant! I’ve got a small and it’s massive , I often wear it, can also fit a smaller ‘normal/nicer’ coat underneath it which is useful.

Shellegerwen · 29/12/2025 11:06

I despise them apart from when they’re used for post-swimming (their intended purpose). Honestly when I see people walking in them they just look ridiculous! They’re huge and shapeless and a weird triangle shape, and people act like no other waterproof/warm coats exist….
(edited for typo)

I got one for Christmas 2 years ago, and got over being a wanker really quickly. I wear mine daily for dog walks this time of year, the pockets are roomy and with a t-shirt on I don't overheat. Also keeps me clean and dry

Proseccoismyfriend · 29/12/2025 11:10

Do it, I’m so warm and dry with the dog. Big pockets for treats and poo bags!

BringBackCatsEyes · 29/12/2025 11:11

I do think the people wearing them for dog walks when it’s 10c or so do look a bit daft. A regular winter coat would surely be sufficient. I guess if you’ve forked out for a real Dry Robe you’d want to get your moneys worth.
I have an Amazon knock off that doesn’t even have the rainproof outer. I wear it when I get out of the lake or river.

jaundicedoutlook · 29/12/2025 11:15

Not for me, but we do have one of their dog coats (i.e. coat for the actual dog rather than its walker) and it is great!

Balloonhearts · 29/12/2025 11:18

I recently joined the ranks of the Equidry Wankers. Best coat I've ever had.

Am considering that and sizing up.

Also because it matches my new wellies

Try Delta Roam - these are slimmer than the usual dry robes, have huge zipped pockets and are very waterproof as well as warm. I wear mine for dog walking and camping.

I have been looking at these - I like that the branding is subtle, as opposed to my Free Spirit one. What’s the material like please?

henlake7 · 29/12/2025 11:57

I got a Regatta one cheap off Vinted. Dont really care if some rando thinks I look like a wanker!
I wanted a good waterproof coat that I could fit a big bag underneath, so I dont have to worry about having a waterproof bag too (even if it does make me look pregnant!LOL).
TBH though I havent had to go out yet in any bad weather so havent got to wear it. I did see someone in the same coat walking around Sainsburys on a dry day though and thought 'why?'....

DeborahVance · 29/12/2025 12:09

They're brilliant. I bought mine for swimming but it is the best thing ever for watching kids play football in February. Wouldn't be without it

Anyone know of a cosy raincoat then 😔

Get the HollandCooper dry robe. It's very stylish, one size and is much less dry robe vibes.

DogsAndFilms · 29/12/2025 12:14

I think Drywalks coats are better all round for dog walking than dry robes.

Way out of my budget

I have an Orla Kiely one from Regatta and I love it but yes, not ideal for walking in. They were mega reduced before Christmas. DS plays rugby and football so I mostly stand around in it!

If you want a cosy long coat, this is a good one. I have it in green.

I think people are over hyping my walks. I have a chihuahua and an elderly pug. I'm not hiking.

No, but they are crackly, not flexible and swishy. Like a big crisp packet.
