@Franpie . You are right. I do love learning about the obsessions other people have though, and the language they use. Preoccupations are fascinating.

I would love to know if you all spend your time hyper noticing what other women are wearing?

Surely the point of going to a fabulous restaurant is the food?

PS what actually is a 'kitten heel' ? It sounds a bit cruel

Please be assured: no kittens are harmed in the making of this footwear 😺

Regarding what to wear- just check their policy nd dress accordingly

peekaboopumpkin12 · 08/11/2025 18:47

I went out tonight for the first time in ages and was surprised by the amount of blue jeans

Were you line dancing?

I’m currently loving tuxedo jackets . I have several ranging from plain with silk collar through to sequinned confections. They all have sufficient stretch to keep on whilst eating.

wear with preferred black trousers, and a set of heels.

So glad stilettos are seeing a return!

They all have sufficient stretch to keep on whilst eating.

This is one of my favourite MN comments ever - provided you meant stretch in the tummy area?

Probably . But she had a Smokey eye and a red lip with a flouncy top over a ripped jean, worn over a cowboy heel so it was probably ok

@LondonPapa I do. Presumably, you carry subtle markers to indicate your wealth. The 2ct diamond, the expensive wristwatch, the driver who drops you.

Oh that was me @RosesAndHellebores ! That was me! 🤗

@LondonPapa takes the bus!

AlertCat · 08/11/2025 22:08

I hardly ever go out in the evenings and even less frequently to somewhere smart, so if I had to pick from my real wardrobe, I might choose a black Manners dress with a silk kimono over it. I don’t have any dressy shoes so would have to wear red Adidas or some funky (but undeniably casual) boots laced with ribbons. Or my preference is always for jeans and I do have quite a nice top- green, laced low back; some shiny silver in the pattern, batwing and flowy. With either black Levi’s or darkish blue wide leg Levi’s, and the same shoe choices.

If I had some fantasy money I might go shoe shopping but IRL I would probably get distracted by some DMs or something!

TwinklyNight · 09/11/2025 00:46

I only have 2 winter dresses, both are knitted, both black but one has colored print, probably would wear one of those with black boots. Or I would have worn black trousers and a nice top or jumper. Maybe. Depends how cold it is. I never go out anymore so I quit buying to go out in clothing.

"From Westwood".

dying here.

Floisme · 09/11/2025 07:57

Rest assured that I notice what women and men wear at all times.

Probably velvet flares, 1970s silver top, matchy matchy silver brogues, posh coat.

Terrytheweasel · 09/11/2025 08:02

Mid length leather wrap skirt, sheer polo top with a bodysuit underneath, gold necklace and hoops and a pair of kitten heeled patent boots, plain black Gucci bag

FleurDeFleur · 09/11/2025 08:05

Everyone is going for the kitten heels 😁

pokewoman · 09/11/2025 08:11

A black wrap midi dress from boohoo...its has a deep neck and a mid thigh split. Black sling back kitten heels. Chunky gold jewellery. Red clutch bag and red lipstick. Black oversized blazer

EssaDiTractor96 · 09/11/2025 08:14

@azurepanda so glad to find another Wiggy Kit fan on here. I know exactly the skirts you mean.

EssaDiTractor96 · 09/11/2025 08:17

Midi leather skirt, silk shirt, pointed slingbacks, small gold and diamond jewellery.

Or

Silk shirt, high-waisted jeans, slingback heels and statement earrings, with co-ordinating statement 50s swing coat.

Or

Back velvet suit, high neck shirt, slingbacks.

I LOVE the way people need to mention the brand as if that adds anything to the description

It does though?
Don't you think a bag made by Chanel sounds a lot classier than the pvc one they got from down the market? Also different brands have different cuts etc. so I disagree.

dying here.

Dying why? Westwood dresses are very distinctive, so mentioning the brand adds an awful lot more information than not mentioning it.

But you keep on dying if it makes you feel good, as it were.

BigSkies2022 · 09/11/2025 09:26

@FleurDeFleur both pairs from Russell & Bromley, but some time ago now.

BigSkies2022 · 09/11/2025 09:39

Oh, and the dinner last night was great fun, although the food was a bit unremarkable. And everyone looked lovely, although most were in jeans. I felt just fine in my outfit and was glad I'd opted for trousers and a bit more height. I have a lunch with a friend in a couple of weeks and will give the skirt an outing then with navy blue merino polo neck (COS) and navy opaques (Wolford), navy monk straps (O' Keefe) and a navy coat (Hobbes). Will also use my DeMellier bag and get the cashmere scarf (John Lewis) out again if it's cold.

My days currently are mostly renovating a flat, dog-walking, and household chores, punctuated by decidedly dress-down outings to book group/evening classes/family stuff, so planning outfits for occasions offers a lot of fun.

Love this!

I'd wear a silky black midi skirt, and a black and gold vintage Clements Ribeiro very fine knit jumper, that I found in a charity shop at the weekend for £4. And black boots of some kind.

I'm surprised a PP thinks mentioning the brand doesn't add to the description. It definitely paints a better picture for me, since I can visualise the style of that brand.
