What are you wearing?

OP posts:
user5687921 · 08/11/2025 11:25

A cream coloured silk shirt, jeans, maroon patent slingback kitten heels, black cashmere coat, black Chanel classic flap (inherited, not purchased, I think they're very overrated).

Reading that back, I sound pretty boring. Might need to mix it up a bit.

BauhausOfEliott · 08/11/2025 11:36

Black short sleeved mini dress in a 1960s A-line cut, black tights with a pattern, patent flatform shoes. Chanel No5 or Narciso Rodriguez For Her.

Rosebud987 · 08/11/2025 11:54

Silk shirt, leather pencil skirt, knee high boots, Chanel bag

Mikart · 08/11/2025 12:57

I don't possess a dress or skirt so it will be wide trousers. Kimono jacket. That's the extent of my "going out" wardrobe.

Notexactlyasplanned · 08/11/2025 13:06

I have a nice meal out today and tomorrow as it happens. First one is London so more casual. Long leather skirt from Hush and chunky boots with either w fine knit or silk shirt and a tweed blazer. Tomorrow is up north - hope and Ivy maxi dress and gold flats and jewellery

merryhouse · 08/11/2025 13:23

My dark emerald green damask wide-leg trousers that tie at the ankle

a multi-coloured flowery top

my purple velvet embroidered jacket

my abalone earrings H bought when he was in Australia. They have a matching pendant (it was the 90s) but the top has the wrong neck for it so a double-string of beads the boys bought me 15 years ago that happen to be the right colour

I have E3 feet and struggle to find nice shoes, so black lace-ups it is unfortunately.

I’ve got terrible legs, hate getting them out… so my wide leg sequin trousers are the best thing in my wardrobe! Don’t feel depressed for me.

🤣Oh I’m not depressed by sequins. They sound great. Black ones depress me.

PaquitaSalas · 08/11/2025 14:30

I’d wear a burgundy cashmere t-shirt from White Co with a brown midi skirt (which has a pattern made from brown sequins on it, it’s not a full sequinned skirt), brown Esska heels, brown BA&SH coat.

I LOVE the way people need to mention the brand as if that adds anything to the description

walkingmad · 08/11/2025 14:47

Does age matter?

I'm going to a nice restaurant in Dec so usually for me I'm wearing a long sleeved black dress with these tights I have just bought, I love them!

www.marksandspencer.com/pearl-embellished-opaque-tights/p/clp60762428#intid=pid_pg1pip48g2r3c1

Will decide on shoes nearer the time but probably platform sandals as I need to walk.

One of my fake fur coats, a longer one. Bag also tbc.

walkingmad · 08/11/2025 14:48

unusually! normally i'm strictly trousers.

CharlotteCChapel · 08/11/2025 14:50

Black.velvet trousers and my sparkly top

patooties · 08/11/2025 14:53

Leather barrel short legged jeans (I’m tall so they hover) , doc boots, a cream silk camisole and a black velvet blazer. That’s what I wore to a nice dinner on Thursday.

Giggorata · 08/11/2025 14:54

I might wear my black trousers, they are both lagenlook and slinky, don't know the brand, with a long similar lagenlook top by Marina Rinaldi, silver jewellery and some low black leather boots, or maybe my bright orange suede ones with a matching scarf.

I'm mentioning the brand because it's helpful to get an idea of the style and does often add something to the description.

Or I might wear a multi colour silk dress, hippy style with a toning silk bolero with bell sleeves , both from Pixie Perfect, and either doctor marten boots or nice sandals.

(I am over 70, so might not be a role model, as these days I just please myself)

RosesAndHellebores · 08/11/2025 14:56

Black silk mix ankle grazers
Deep pinky red velvet tunic jacket
Neat black patent kitten heels
Pink pearls and earrings

MaturingCheeseball · 08/11/2025 15:02

Thinking practically - definitely an elasticated waist. Also, nothing too skimming on the top, having seen a photo of myself at a dinner and there was a stomach roll in my fine-knit lurex turtle neck. And boots… sweltering calves after a while.

Of course it adds to the description. A dress from Shein is going to be rather different to one from Westwood, for example.

BigSkies2022 · 08/11/2025 15:20

Pleated stone colour wool skirt with a bit of subtle sparkle in the fabric, caramel silk shirt, chocolate brown opaque tights, burgundy loafers with jewelled trim, brown cashmere jumper that I can remove if warm, burgundy DeMellier bag. DH’s very pretty Japanese watch, a blingy ring or two.

BigSkies2022 · 08/11/2025 15:22

Oh and if it’s brands we’re talking about, it’s COS, Everlane, Russell &Bromley.

PaquitaSalas · 08/11/2025 15:24

Guess the brand comment was aimed at me. Genuinely not trying to show off regarding brands as I guess that’s the subtext of Nigel’s comment. I’m really not a show off type and like clothes at all price points.
Personally I like to know where fellow Style and Beautyers are finding clothes. I do also think it adds to the description eg Esska heels are very distinctive - if I said ‘brown heels’ that’s much vaguer.

Franpie · 08/11/2025 15:32

I’m wearing a very short but high neck tight black dress from All Saints and black boots I think. Actually, I’m undecided on footwear.

It’s a party as well as dinner and I have a sparkly jacket that I might pair with it but I’m undecided on that too.

Parker231 · 08/11/2025 15:36

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 08/11/2025 10:06

I’d wear a dress or skirt. The idea of wide legged trousers as evening wear depresses me a bit.

I’d either wear a silky Whistles mini dress or a silky All Saints midi dress with suede over the knee boots, I think.

Why does it depress you? It’s a meal at a restaurant not a ball?
My choice would be black wide leg trousers, black camisole and bright coloured shirt.

NewDogOwner · 08/11/2025 15:43

I have just discovered black maxi dresses. You can wear then with converse and a denim jacket for a casual lunch or with heels and a smart long coat.

Worldgonecrazy · 08/11/2025 15:54

RollerSkateLikePeggy · 08/11/2025 08:00

@Worldgonecrazy please share some links to the tuxedos! I literally have no dressy clothes for cooler weather and really need something, so I am following with interest.

Charity shops! I’ve found a Reiss, Hobbs and a Damsel in a Dress tuxedo. Vinted have a few too. Good luck! I also like wearing them with blue jeans, a white T-shirt and my Converse, I get lots of compliments for that look.

Black trousers just remind me of work, unless with very high heels and I cba with those anymore.
