How many jumpers do you own?

pomeglamate · 30/10/2025 12:17

Recent discovery of Vinted has given me so many jumper problems. I previously thought that four jumpers was a decent god-fearing number to own. Now I am up to six jumpers and counting. Two of them are cashmere. I asked AI and it said that 7-10 jumpers is a reasonable number of jumpers?!? Thrilled if this is so but think this is a situation where I need real human input. How many jumpers do you own?? Bonus points for telling me about your favourite jumpers.

I have four of the same jumper in different colours. I may have a problem. (I have many others too!)

TeenToTwenties · 30/10/2025 12:44

Well 3 if you count the duplicate of my favourite sat in a drawer ready for when it is needed.

Do you never get cold?

CAMHShelp · 30/10/2025 22:46

Around 30

Makingpeace · 30/10/2025 22:49

3 jumpers
1 cardigan
1 hoodie

I have about 5 additional Christmas ones though that do all the heavy lifting from 1st December onwards!

NotMyRealAccount · 30/10/2025 22:50

Half a dozen jumpers, maybe, all handknitted, and at least as many warm (as opposed to merely decorative) cardigans. But I live in sweatshirts, of which I think I currently have 14, because they're so easy to wash and they've got big pockets.

NorWouldTilly · 30/10/2025 23:00

I am more than a little discombobulated to discover that other human beings aren’t constantly seeking ways to cover every centimetre of skin with something knitted or woven. At this time of year even glimpsing a photo of someone in a thin, short sleeved garment is enough to make me shiver.

PickleASturgeon · 30/10/2025 23:18

33 -that doesn't include cardigans or sweatshirts.

I keep thinking it's ridiculous and no one needs that amount (they don't) and that I should probably sell some of them, but I love them all. Most of them are wool/merino or cashmere. I've bought loads from Vinted which were new with tags and originally cost over £100, but not paid anywhere near the retail price.

I recently laid them all out on my bed and took a video of them on my phone, so that if ever I'm tempted to buy another one, I just look at the video and that brings me to my senses!

Angliski · 30/10/2025 23:51

About thirty including cardies. At least half are vintage cashmere. It’s kind of a hobby/ collection/ obsession

I have thermal shirts for winter.
I do have a couple of hoodies too, and a nice blanket.
And I| live 'down South' which helps!

Tryingatleast · 31/10/2025 07:13

The question is more how many do you wear? I’ve theee I keep and I don’t know why, I don’t particularly like them but they’re handy if I need something casual but slightly formal.

BitOutOfPractice · 31/10/2025 07:15

About 20 jumpers. Probably about 10 cardigans. About 20 hoodies.

The thing is I have some that are 20+ years old. They are all classic shapes and colours and they Don’t really wear out.

HipHopGirl · 31/10/2025 07:36

I’m interested to know how you store them all. I must have 20+ but not keen on putting them on hangers so keep in a cupboard on shelves but never seem to stay organised long enough!

Ah ok, I was classing my hoodies as jumpers!

Thin/lightweight jumpers on padded coat hangers
Chunky jumpers and handknits folded in a deep drawer.

Shinyredbicycle · 31/10/2025 07:49

At least 20, about the same cardigans. Only a couple of sweatshirts now I think about it - must rectify via Vinted.

Most cashmere, second-hand and years old.

Keep going OP

Myblueclematis · 31/10/2025 07:56

I've just bought four new ones in the past two weeks and with the two I already have, six in total.

I have lots of cardigans though plus three really nice fitted hoodie zip up type of tops to wear with leggings at home only.

RedRiverShore5 · 31/10/2025 08:36

I store thin cardigans on hangers and thicker ones in those Ikea Pax wardrobe baskets

Magpie50 · 31/10/2025 08:48

My middle wardrobe is all shelves so I can store jumpers there (can fit 3 rows, 2 deep on each shelf!).
All except my really long cardies which i hang up.

I honestly can't fathom someone only having 4 or 5 jumpers. Don't you get bored of them after a while?

You’d freeze if you saw me! 😁 I practically live in vest tops most of the year and quite often only wear a jacket or cardigan (of which I have 3) because I look bonkers not wearing one!

PrincessSakura · 31/10/2025 08:53

I have a mix of knitwear consisting of jumpers, hoodies and cardigans. I love them and definitely have over 50! 😬 I know I need to have a clear out again as my wardrobe is currently overflowing with clothes!

GellerYeller · 30/10/2025 19:15

If I categorised them:
Hoodies x4(pink, black zipped, navy, pink unzipped)
Crochet/open weave x3(black, navy, cream)
Cashmere: 1 polo, 1 cardi, (both beige)1 long crew neck, (grey), 1 short crew neck(navy)
Sweatshirts x4(black, pink, white, cream)
Thick ribbed biker style zipped black cardi
Long thick belted WFH cardis x3 (black, beige, grey) BUT they double up as coats.
Crew neck cotton jumpers x3 (grey, burgundy, black)
Heavy winter jumpers x4(navy, black, khaki, pink)
Fine knit work cardis x5 (burgundy, red, pale green, khaki, navy with white stripes)
Khaki jumper with capey scarf attachment
Christmas jumper.
1 lime green crew neck awaiting return(see above for reasons why)
To be fair they’re all in heavy rotation, some were gifts and some are donkeys years old.

For shame, just went to get dressed and I’d missed another two crochet types in grey and cream, a cream batwing, cream cable knit arran thing, a grey thick wool roll neck and a synthetic black and white striped thing that’s seen better days.
There’s also a Chandler Bing style sweater vest 😂

MsSmartShoes · 31/10/2025 08:56

Probably around 40.

Iwanttoliveinagardencentre · 31/10/2025 09:00

None because I can’t stand the feel of wool or fake wool.
Ditto fleece.

ciscowife · 31/10/2025 09:41

Oh my gawd I wouldn’t want to count but probably a lot!! I’m guessing somewhere between 50 and 100 (including hoodies and cardigans) - I have a jumper problem though! As well as a coat problem!!

I don't get bored. I'm not a natural 'style and beauty' person, and I hate shopping. I don't work (combination of SAHM / carer / retired I guess) so don't need as much variety as I could I guess.
