How many jumpers do you own?

pomeglamate · 30/10/2025 12:17

Recent discovery of Vinted has given me so many jumper problems. I previously thought that four jumpers was a decent god-fearing number to own. Now I am up to six jumpers and counting. Two of them are cashmere. I asked AI and it said that 7-10 jumpers is a reasonable number of jumpers?!? Thrilled if this is so but think this is a situation where I need real human input. How many jumpers do you own?? Bonus points for telling me about your favourite jumpers.

Maybe a 100 😬

Do you own your own flocks of 🐑🐑😁

AlexisP90 · 30/10/2025 18:46

Wayyyy to many. I moved house recently and put about 10 in the clothing bank (short on time to try and sell them) and I still have an ottoman stuffed with them. Probably about 20.

I know I have a problem

HundredMilesAnHour · 30/10/2025 12:48

I have far too many to count. I can see about 25 from where I’m sitting now but there are many many MANY more stashed away in drawers / storage boxes etc. I’m definitely in 3 figures. I love jumpers. And also jackets. And coats. And shoes.

Are you me ?

BalladOfBarryAndFreda · 30/10/2025 18:48

Probably 25. I've had most of them for years. They're all either merino or cashmere. I buy good quality, look after it and keep it forever. I'm boring like that.

StokePotteries · 30/10/2025 18:48

At least 12. More than 12 if you include cardigans. I wear 4 of them all the time, two on special occasions, 2-3 cardigans around the house when wanting to feel cosy. I am always on the hunt for the elusive perfect jumper.

Enough4me · 30/10/2025 18:52

Around 25 (just winter ones not counting summer ones, cardigans and hoodies).

Joelz · 30/10/2025 18:53

If you are talking winter jumpers, then well over 100. Mainly wool/cashmere/alpaca. I have very few 'synthetic" jumpers. I grew up in a house with no central heating and even now dislike a hot house. I'll put on a jumper instead.

Then there are spring cotton jumpers too....

I go through them at the beginning/end of the season and cull the ones that are getting worn.

I like a jumper. Always have. If I see one I like then I buy it.

Equalizer · 30/10/2025 18:58

Oh....counting only those worn over t-shirts/blouses right.
2 wool vests
10 wool/merino/mohair/cashmere plus a few sneaky poly mixes jumpers
3 sweatshirts
3 cardigans of which 2 need replacing and the other needs elbows reinforcing.
2 fleece

I actually need to buy a few more as I run really cold.

Equalizer · 30/10/2025 19:02

MadMumOfTwoHorrors · 30/10/2025 17:51

Lots….and lots…and lots….and then a few more.
I’ve got 15 jumpers and 6 cardigans in my wardrobe, then another 5 jumpers in a drawer. On top of that, I have 7 sweatshirts, 4 zip up hoodies, 3 over the head hoodies and 4 fleeces. It’s entirely possible there are more in the cupboard in the spare room that I’ve forgotten about. I also have 2 Christmas jumpers if they count.
I am always cold, so am constantly buying what looks like the cosiest one yet, only to find I’m still cold. Often I wear a jumper with a hoody over the top.
My favourite knitted ones are 2 I bought in Sainsburys, a linen Schoffel one and a big chunky one from Scamp and Dude.
My fave sweatshirts are from Scamp and Dude and Beaumont and Bear.

Just to comment - I have layered uniqlo's camisole vest, their Cashmere turtle neck and then over that another wool jumper/cardigan - actually feel fine when Im dressed like that. Alternatively best, thin t-shirt, knitted turtleneck and a jacket.

GellerYeller · 30/10/2025 19:15

If I categorised them:
Hoodies x4(pink, black zipped, navy, pink unzipped)
Crochet/open weave x3(black, navy, cream)
Cashmere: 1 polo, 1 cardi, (both beige)1 long crew neck, (grey), 1 short crew neck(navy)
Sweatshirts x4(black, pink, white, cream)
Thick ribbed biker style zipped black cardi
Long thick belted WFH cardis x3 (black, beige, grey) BUT they double up as coats.
Crew neck cotton jumpers x3 (grey, burgundy, black)
Heavy winter jumpers x4(navy, black, khaki, pink)
Fine knit work cardis x5 (burgundy, red, pale green, khaki, navy with white stripes)
Khaki jumper with capey scarf attachment
Christmas jumper.
1 lime green crew neck awaiting return(see above for reasons why)
To be fair they’re all in heavy rotation, some were gifts and some are donkeys years old.

SisterMaryLuke · 30/10/2025 19:21

I don't own any proper jumpers (knitted). I have 1 knitted hoodie and have just purchased an alpaca cardigan. I do have about 5 quarter zip fleece tops which are worn the most. I'm not a fan of knitwear on me.

PaquitaSalas · 30/10/2025 19:27

I love a jumper.

grey blue cashmere - old
dark green cashmere - old
monochrome stripe merino with collar - old
Christmas jumper (acrylic) with small sequin trees - old
navy cashmere with white lettering ‘rue du mail’ - new
stripe cashmere- new
merino stripe collared jumper - new
brown merino with brown satin placket - new
dark maroon cashmere t shirt (elbow length) - new

So 4 older ones and 5 I bought this year. That’s it, but love and wear them all.

Pigeon123456 · 30/10/2025 19:43

I own three Christmas jumpers alone… I have no idea how many jumpers in total! I love them!

pomeglamate · 30/10/2025 19:48

@Jins how do you keep warm?!? Blanket?? Big old coat???

pomeglamate · 30/10/2025 19:53

This is very, very reassuring. Thanks, jumper-lovers!

A colleague at work asked me if I was “into wool” the other day and I had to say that, well… to be totally honest… yes.

Over 20 I think but I work outdoors so need various weights to cover every temperature eventuality, some are lightweight fleece others are thick and cosy knitted (and there's a few cardigans that act as an extra layer when I get chilly while watching telly on an evening)

I don’t really feel the cold. I’ve only got a few things with short sleeves and nothing with long sleeves. I’ll wear a lightweight coat outside and on the rare occasions that I feel chilly while sitting watching tv I’ll put a blanket over my legs.

henlake7 · 30/10/2025 20:34

Wow, I wish I hadn't been and counted now!

About 60 jumpers and about 30 cardigans/sweatervests!
TBF though I'm a cold person and am usually in layers from September onwards.
That includes sweatshirts, short sleeved, fleeces, fitted and oversized jumpers.
Also I have a collection of thin jumpers I wear with my also sizeable pinafore dress collection!
I don't feel bad about though, most come from Vinted or Primark so not expensive and they all get wear.

notimeforregrets · 30/10/2025 20:37

Way more than 12 and that is not including the hoodies.

NotMeNoNo · 30/10/2025 20:37

A lot. Ones I've knitted over the years and various merino/cashmere/lambswool ones I wear for work.
I noticed my elderly mum's wardrobe is also full of little crew neck jumpers in pastel colours, I can see where this is going to end up.

Emmz1510 · 30/10/2025 20:37

No where near enough because I find it a complete nightmare finding nice ones that suit me! I don’t really suit anything other than oversized hoodies and v necks because I am quite big busted and have a tummy, whereas everything in the shops seems to be high necked and cropped! But v necks can also look frumpy. I have a couple of hoodies and a couple of chunky knits.

Doyouthinktheyknow · 30/10/2025 20:39

I’ve lost a lot of weight and have fallen in love with jumpers this year, I love the way they look in my new size 10-12 figure. Previously I looked like Humpty Dumpty, it wasn’t a good look.

As a result I’ve got about 8 jumpers and haven’t finished shopping!

mixedpeel · 30/10/2025 20:53

I looooove jumpers. Def more than 20 in total. A dear friend knits me a new one every year for my birthday, so that’s eight straightaway. However they are all acrylic, so I don’t really wear them for work, as my work sweat seems to be stinkier than just being relaxed off duty…

Hence merino or cashmere for work. A few cotton knits too.

Not many cardigans, but bought a gorgeous sunshine yellow cashmere cardigan from a charity shop at the weekend. Can’t resist the knitwear!

Ivy888 · 30/10/2025 21:50

I have a lot of jumpers since discovering Vinted🙈 I love jumpers and they’re a very safe Vinted buy (always fit unless they’re too small, if too big they are a baggy jumper which is also very comfy). They are also a lot cheaper 2nd hand. And honestly I don’t think one can have enough jumpers.
I store them in transparant ikea boxes. I just chuck them in. They don’t get wrinkly so I don’t see a need to fold them neatly.

BeretRaspberry · 30/10/2025 22:42

A grand total of 0! I cannot tolerate them heat wise and I practically melt in anything long sleeved. And it’s all a pain because I love the look of some of them. You can have my quota, OP, so don’t worry about having too many!🤣
