How many jumpers do you own?

pomeglamate · 30/10/2025 12:17

Recent discovery of Vinted has given me so many jumper problems. I previously thought that four jumpers was a decent god-fearing number to own. Now I am up to six jumpers and counting. Two of them are cashmere. I asked AI and it said that 7-10 jumpers is a reasonable number of jumpers?!? Thrilled if this is so but think this is a situation where I need real human input. How many jumpers do you own?? Bonus points for telling me about your favourite jumpers.

Zero, I hate jumpers!

Sensory nightmare, always end up being too hot and they make me look matronly. Sweatshirts are fine for some reason.

KathyDuck · 30/10/2025 14:02

Easily 30-40

3luckystars · 30/10/2025 14:03

I’m a disgrace.

tinyspiny · 30/10/2025 14:06

I’ve got 10/11 jumpers , I’ve always been a jumper person since having horses as a child , layers are good and jumpers are a layer . My newest jumper is a very dark green soft wool mix that I got in the M&S sale .

More than that I suspect 🫣, if you count sweatshirts, hoodies as well.
i have just put 12 in bag for the charity collection next week.

Madickenxx · 30/10/2025 14:15

I said 8-12 jumpers but it all depends on how you define jumpers. I think I have 8-12 sweatshirts but that didn't include hoodies (3) and cardigans (no idea, at least 10). I have another 2 knitted sweaters en route as I ordered them earlier this week. I LOVE winter season for cosy knits and sweatshirts. If you asked me how many summer dresses I own, the answer would be a lot less.

I've also just sold around 6 sweatshirts so it would have been more if you asked a couple of weeks ago 😄

I didn't have many proper jumpers until OH died a few years back and I 'inherited' some of his Fat Face jumpers hardly/never worn! Every couple of years I splash out on a cashmere polo neck as my Christmas jumper.

NorWouldTilly · 30/10/2025 14:23

No, sweatshirts not made of wool are not jumpers …

I am a bit knitwear obsessed but try to avoid having more than six or seven of any item in current rotation - any more than that and it’s hard to maintain wardrobe order.

As no one else is sharing favourite brands I’ll keep quiet …

Silverbirchleaf · 30/10/2025 14:23

Lots!

At a rough estimate-
4 thicker woolly jumpers
3 thinner jumpers
3 work jumpers
3 sweatshirts
2 fluffy teddy/borg jumpers (to lounge about it)
6 casual cardigans
4 work, smarter cardigans
2 short sleeve jumpers

  • summer jumpers and cardigans (cotton, lighter, short sleeve etc)

(and I’m sure I’d missed some!)

giveyourselfapresent · 30/10/2025 14:38

Loads. I love them, I love them, I love them. They are my thing, much more than coats or shoes or anything else. I've literally just unbagged my beautiful oversized calf-length chunky cashmere house cardi for the first time this autumn. Put it on and it's like a big, warm autumnal hug.

I do have to not buy any more, though. I have so many beautiful knits that none of them get as much wear as they should. But I take care of them and hope to have them the rest of my life, barring extreme weight gain.

NancyJoan · 30/10/2025 14:41

Oh, easily 30 knits. Plus maybe 10 cardigans. And another 10 sweatshirts/hoodies. You’re fine, OP!

Welshmumto3boys · 30/10/2025 15:16

LaurieFairyCake · 30/10/2025 12:42

Maybe a 100 😬

Me too lol 😂

PinkTonic · 30/10/2025 15:54

I have a lot. Mostly cashmere. Beautiful knitwear is my pleasure.

Waitaminutewheresmejumper · 30/10/2025 16:02

Just knitted jumpers, about 12. Sweatshirts or cotton long sleeved t-shirt types the same. Lots of them are ancient now, 15+ years old and still in regular rotation.

PoppySaidYesIKnow · 30/10/2025 16:04

Around 30

pomeglamate · 30/10/2025 12:31

Hmm can see I’m already at the upper end of jumper-owning with six. Was sort of hoping everyone would be like “I own twenty jumpers, it’s the bare minimum!!!”

I’ve got about 12-15 and love them. Hide a multitude of lumps and bumps 😂😂

LivingDeadGirlUK · 30/10/2025 16:08

I went a bit crazy with layers at the start of the year as I began a new job in an office with ferocious AC. I've got 3 hoodies, 3 thick jumpers, 2 thick cardigans, 3 thinner jumpers I would just wear a thermal under, and 4 jumper dresses! Oh and the Christmas jumper :P

Hohumdedum · 30/10/2025 16:14

Ah, I have the same problem.

I have three cashmere jumpers and two cashmere cards and they are by far the most worn.

I also have two merino jumpers which are next most worn.

Then I have two summer cards that go with almost all my dresses. Also worn a lot.

Plus about 15 other cardis and jumpers which I wore a lot before I discovered real wool and now barely leave the wardrobe. Should get rid.

Also three jumper dresses.

Do you feel better?!

ByMintWriter · 30/10/2025 16:15

I'm ashamed to say it's about 100.. shocking I know. All stored in a double storage bed 😆

elliejjtiny · 30/10/2025 16:19

I have 3 that are mine and another 2 that used to be dh's before he lost weight.

Clychaugog · 30/10/2025 16:20

I can't stop buying 100% pure wool hand knitted chunky jumpers from charity shops. It's a problem. I don't want to count them.
I can't walk away from a jumper that would be upwards of £150 new for a fiver.

DiscoNights · 30/10/2025 16:24

I’ve got two or three chunky knits.

About seven medium knits.

Three of four fine-knit jumpers.

All of them are wool, and some of them I’ve had for almost twenty years.

SleepingisanArt · 30/10/2025 16:30

None! I don't own a sweater at all! I have 2 identical cotton longline (no buttons so 'edge to edge') cardigans. I wear them over a t-shirt or 3/4 sleeve top in the winter.....

To be honest having seen the vote I don't think I dare count mine! I have multiple jumpers I wear for working from home and then multiple sweatshirts for casual wear.

UncleHerbieIsBack · 30/10/2025 16:32

12-15 hand knitted/crotcheted jumpers and cardigans, by me, two cashmere (including one bought in the 80s), several Zara roll necks in various colours, one navy French Connection “over jumper” (ie worn over a thin long sleeved tshirt instead of a coat, one cream and another turquoise over jumpers from Cos

I love autumn and winter
