Help me find a really nice dress for new fellas work do!

So I have a new boyfriend, and I meeting his colleagues at a christmas do on 12th December - so I have time. I want to look good of course, not show him up!

Im 51, BMI 23, curvy - I have massive boobs (34gg), slim waist with flat tum, but
very chunky arms and legs that I like covered. He loves me in dresses, so I think id like to wear a dress. A big issue is shoes, I never know what to wear. Flats with a midi dress make my calves look enormous - so i cheat and wear knee high boots. But not all dresses look good with them do they? Id wear a pair of black shiny knee high boots with a slight heel if I had to make the look work. Id rather that than a pair of high heels.

Anyway, any ideas? Im thinking something slinky, shiny, velvety???

Lovely but would people really pay that much for what is essentially just a wrap dress?

And it is too dominatrix - especially first time meeting people. It needs accessorising with a whip. The fabric looks like bin bags.

The other is lovely but i think a pp suggestion of a pant suit is good. You want to hide your calves, but keep choosing dresses that will show them and cut them at the least flattering place. I understand you like the idea of a dress, but a fluid pantsuit can give this feel but without the formality of a dress that long.

Oh this is lovely - and long boots could work with this one. Pointy like a witch would wear to stop it looking clompy and keep the halloweeny vibe!

To my amazement, i’ve just seen a few KW dresses on Vinted.

I think the plastic Black Faux Leather Popper Midi dress is cheap looking and isn’t the vibe for a first time meeting your new bf’s work colleagues.

I love these threads as I get to see dresses from companies I never knew existed!! I now have my eye on about 4 dresses!!

Soooo....the Cristina dresses came. OMFG. I can see where the money goes. I am usually a tight arse and spend 40 quid max, so these dresses were a real treat. They are absolutely stunning. I went for size 12 and at first was worried as they were going tight over the head, and I though shit they won't fit. But they have a zip at the side and a bow tie thing at the back, and its honestly like they were made for me. Ive never had a dress that fits my boobs and my waist so well. The dresses are so so well made - the sleeves are like works of art. I will say I never buy expensive so maybe this is the norm, but my goodness, I feel like a million bucks. Showed my boyfriend and he thought they were gorgeous as well and he said they really complimented my figure.

Only downside was I would expect for that price, and how beautiful they were - for them to come in a fancy box with tissue paper (have I been watching too many films??) and it just came in the usual plastic bag in a brown parcel bag.

But yeah, I am now so into this range, as clearly they are very much made so utterly beautifully for the hourglass figure, I want to get more. I don't actually like any of the others though, bar one that is black with flowers on it. Satin I think. So I might buy that too.

Anyway, thank you everyone. Oh and I also bought a pair of red velvet chunky sandals. Ill play around with tights and see what works.

Oh and for anyone whose interested - the green is soooo dark its almost black. That was a bit disappointing, but its such an amazing fit Im still keeping it. The red though is waaay better if anyone is stuck between which one to get.

So pleased you have found something!! Once you know a company and their sizes, you can often raid vinted for additional dresses at a fraction of the cost!

Actually the red may only be better cos of my colouring. I am pale with red hair so it looks nicer than the green - which is almost black. An emerald green would have been much nicer.

I'm looking for a Christmas party dress for a family do and don't want my boobs on show. It doesn't look too low cut on the model but I'm curious how it works in real life.

That Joanie velvet dress would look gorgeous on you — the shape’s perfect for curves. Pair it with your black knee-high boots and sheer tights for balance; add statement earrings and you’re Christmas-do ready without needing heels.

Thats the bit I like about it the most actually. Its not at all cleavagy, but my boobs look amazing in it. Its buttons that don't open so theres no gaping. I got the 12, and it fits my 34GGs like a glove. Its a bit loose on the back bit - its has a bit of elastic shirring but a big tie bow that covers that so I just pulled it in. Overall its an absolute banger and can't wait to wear it. As i say, I kept the green too (but its almost black), because the shape is so good for me.

sorely tempted to buy several in the range now. Hope she brings out some more.

Thank you for the detailed reply, that's great to know. It's crazy how rare it is to find something that fits well over boobs and doesn't gape or gap. I'm a 34ff and too old for anyone to need an eyefull of my cleavage! But also have a belly so I'll try a 14.

I know! Its infuriating. I read the reviews of the dresses though and the amount of women moaning because they don't fit - baggy on boobs too tight on waist. Don't think people are getting these are cut specifically for hour glasses.

I was thinking Dubai chic - a bit tacky and what a woman 'should' look like. Very dated.

Ive never heard of 'Dubai Chic', thats funny. I was thinking that it looks more like KK. Id look utterly ridiculous.

Honestly I think this is better than the Joanie one. Christina Hendricks could make a paper bag look good but on most mere mortals it WILL look frumpy and aging.

I agree she’s gorgeous but she doesn’t look good in everything. She dresses perfectly for her figure. It really doesn’t look frumpy. I’m quite conscious of that given my age and shape it is easily done. The right cut - bombshell. the wrong cut - either sex worker or fat frump. Not suggesting I have the face of Cristina (who does) but I’m considered nice looking and my body is similar but smaller waist.
