I bought these as cheap practical wellies for the winter… fit well. I wouldn't wear anything with a British/English flag on it. This has come about from small town mentality. When an Indian opened in town, the right wing rugby lot decided they wanted the (insert horrendous racial slur) out. They flew a St George's Flag outside their club and rugby pub to echo this and intimidate them. This was 30 odd years ago and I could never look at a flag like that without feeling shame at how pir town behaved towars them. That's a me issue though and it's sad that I can't feel any patriotism.

Unfortunately the UK flag is taken to mean all kinds of things at the moment, so probably not the best time to be wearing it!

I have two of them, from Tesco many years ago (I think when the Great British Bake Off started and we weren't shamed for owning something with a union flag on).

One has biscuits in the other has individually wrapped biscuits in. I shall discreetly hide them away until the bin men collect.

Cover the flags with a waterproof sticker, or permanent black marker or whatever. That's what I'd do. I would only have bought them by mistake though. Unfortunately the UJ has uncomfortable connotations now, for me anyway and I swerve anything showing it, and make instant assumptions (wrong maybe but there we are) about anyone wearing anything with it visible.

Sad to say this about the national flag, but it has been well and truly hijacked by nefarious forces.

I don't know whether to be angry or heartbroken that the very sight of our flag provokes such outrage, the very same flag that draped the coffins of our military killed overseas. Shame on every British person that has a fit of the vapours over our flag but worships the palestine flag.
