Just watched a clip of Trump and Melania in St George’s chapel. That hat is so massive and as she is quite tall, the effect is that the member of the clergy who is addressing her is talking to the crown of her hat

I'd like to know the detail on Melania's earrings. It's nice to see her smile for once really.

I can't see Melania's earrings. Has anyone got a picture? I'm also trying to identify Anne's tiara. I'm not keen on her dress.
Birgitte Gloucester is her usual elegant self in pale blue.

Just had a look at Philippa Lapley dresses. The are stunning 😍. Makes me want to get married again. Though I would need to lose about 4 stone, and grow 4 inches to do the dresses justice

I listened to both speeches, a bit bland. Trump was quite subdued 😁

The camera angles couldn't catch Catherine. One was obscured by a gold statue, the other by a huge flower arrangement. ITV must have been cussing 🤬

Really enjoyable to see the frocks and jewellery! Kate looks sensational. She does suit gold so well and agree that her hair colour compliments the gown tonight.

Thanks, I couldn't quite see it. She doesn't wear her Greek Meander tiara much, I like that one.

Melanias dress is ok, but completely misses the mark for a stare dinner. Looks even worse in motion when she’s walking in with Camilla.

I loved Kate's dress - stunning. I still don't like her hair and would prefer it darker and shorter and in the case of this in an updo. Tbh with the gold dress and the hair down it gave me the vibes of Earl Spencer's first wife's wedding dress.

But what a gorgeous dress though.

Loved Camilla's dress too - and while the necklace didn't seem to sit right - well, who cares? it is gorgeous bling. I wouldn't throw it out of bed for eating crisps as we used to say in Ireland.

I am not of fan of Melania's dress but the earrings were fabulous and it was nice to see her smiling.

Not in the spirit of the thread but I'd say Melania is delighted Ivanka is no longer in the entourage. And the royals are certainly making the most use of Catherine POW.

i like Kate’s dress but enough with The Hair - tiaras generally look better with hair up imo, and she really suits an up do.
Edited to add - iageee with the PP that it has echoes of Victoria Lockwood marrying Earl Spencer. Lucky it wasn’t raining

Perhaps her recent change in hair colour had this dress in mind? I think we're used to seeing her loose hair tucked behind her ears and having it round her face certainly changes her whole appearance. I thought she looked stunning in her bobby-dazzler of a state banquet dress.

Having had a better look, there is too much going on with Kate, the dress is beautiful but the high collar, her hair down, the orders and a tiara that doesn't really go with the dress is a lot around her face.

Melania's dress without the belt would have been fine. Her earrings are huge! Can I have them on the SSOS @Maireas please

Interesting that Tiffany ,like Melania ,has bare shoulders and a side split .Though maybe the former's is a mo ck split .

I'm definitely in the sceptical camp when it comes to Kate’s dress. The gold decoration is spectacular in the close-ups, but I just don't think that gold netting works well over skin - it looks a lot better over the ivory gown. Nor did I like the netting as a fabric for an evening coat (especially not the stiff collar; very weird), I think it would have worked better as a double layered dress. I like the evening coat concept, but this version doesn't work for me.

In fact, for me the flowers had more wow than the gowns (those I've seen) last night. (Thanks @Choux for the tablescape pictures.) I had fun identifying flowers - much easier than last time, partly because they went for a lot of bold, striking flowers that are distinctive even at a distance. Cut glass vases too, for extra sparkle. I was least keen on the small vases for the individual place settings, where I don't think ‘big and bold’ worked so well.

Lots of my guesses were included, some weren't (I didn't spot any Michaelmas daisies - Aster; Symphyotrichum) and they obviously decided against including autumnal berries, in spite of the seasonal theme.

I do wonder how they manage to de-bug the floral display: if I brought even a tiny fraction of that quantity of flowers and greenery into the house I would have ladybirds and other insects crawling all over the place!

The flowers were beautiful, weren't they, I thought the colours looked fresh and bright. With all the gold and the candlelight, I bet it was a feast for the eyes before the food came in for the regular feast!

I don’t think the necklace works with the dresses neck line. It seems crammed in rather than falling naturally.
