Why is Tiffany even there? She doesn’t work in his Government I don’t think.

It’s as if he needs to be like the king and have an heir present and Ivanka’s not interested now so… Tiffany it is. Can you imagine you or your spouse being invited to a fancy work related shindig and bringing your adult child and their spouse?!? So weird but I guess Trump has to bag as many perks and positive publicity from this visit as he can.

Fashion comment: Tiffany looked very suitably attired and I like the little sparkle to her dress.

Maireas · 18/09/2025 09:44

Yes, I liked Tiffany's dress. Did anyone see what Victoria Starmer was wearing? I thought Yvette Cooper looked nice.

Melania's dress is growing on me ,shots of her moving in it show it off better I think .And the colours are so hard to judge from photos .I see the belt is described as lilac .
If anyone has more links showing dresses from the banquet I'd be very grateful .

NewAgeNewMe · 18/09/2025 09:50

If I had Melania's figure I’d wear a dress like that. I don’t and I’d look like a sack of potatoes wearing it.

@IDareSay posted The Times link upthread.

Lady Starmer was in pink and red but hard to find a clear picture. She is in the background of this Tiffany shot.

Thanks, Choux, I've just seen that on the Sky News article. It looks like red and pink.

Thank you @Maireas and thank you @IDareSay ,I didn't mean to be rude and ignore that lovely link .
Like others I was wanting more (Blush) eg wondering about Starmer's wife .

Oh, don't apologise! It's very easy to miss links on here, sometimes the thread goes quickly.

I'm putting off doing my exercises by browsing banquet pics!

Interesting that both Camilla and Kate chose to wear Very Big Tiaras. Maybe a subtle way of putting Melanie in her place?

I also note that Kate could not be arsed bothered to spend an hour having her hair pinned into a chignon - just gave it a quick flick with her heated brush…

Reacshunary · 18/09/2025 10:06

I liked Melania’s looks. I think perhaps she chose a somber look on arrival at Windsor as she was visiting QEII’s grave. I thought she looked amazing in the yellow. Perhaps not a traditional State Banquet look but then she’s not encumbered with the same limitations the POW is, from a protocol pov.

Maireas · 18/09/2025 10:07

The more I look, the more I like Kate's look. It was a huge occasion, and merited a stunning dress, not worn before, with lots of bling. I'm always glad to see the tiaras out of the vaults, they should be worn!

Yes, I think that's a good point. There was a sort of Trooping event, then the Chapel and visiting the late Queen's grave. I think her outfit was chic, if the hat was a little too concealing.

Edited

I disagree re big tiara wearing. Given that this was the grandest of state visits with all stops pulled out, I think it was a mark of respect for the First Lady.

Exactly! If you can't wear a tiara to a State Banquet, then when can you?
It's an occasion for tiaras and associated bling.
Melania's earrings were particularly huge and fabulous! Good for her.

I'm embarrassed that our first minister refused the invitation to attend. That'll backfire on us. The Scottish minister did attend, however.

Cassiope · 18/09/2025 10:22

Kemi Badenoch apparently wore a Roland Mouret gown to the banquet last night, so if anyone can find piccies that would be worth a look.
