Does it really look that bad?

I quite liked these trousers but both my DM and DH they didn’t do em any favours but I still liked them! So wanted to know other opinions :)

That is rather the nature of an internet style forum, @Sunaquarius

I like them! Could be dressed up or down, nice blazer or something. I’d wear them!

SwedishEdith · 16/08/2025 17:04

Agree that they just don't look fashionable atm. A darker top would definitely be better. They look a bit too small but not sure if they actually are.

RawBloomers · 16/08/2025 17:05

I really like them and you don't look bad in them at all. Possibly you look slimmer in other styles/patterns, though?

If I were looking at those photos as though they were me, I'd think the sideways view looked great, but from the front it does look like there's more weight on stomach and thighs (which the side view shows is not the case). So maybe that's what your DM and DH are talking about?

LavenderBlue19 · 16/08/2025 17:08

They do look very tight on the hips. That combined with the fashion currently being for very loose-fitting trousers, they look way too old for you - I was expecting you to be 60+.

I like the pattern though, I just think you need to go up a size and wear them with a different top.

BondAway25 · 16/08/2025 17:16

I like them, they're not 'too short' they're capri!

You look a million times better in them than the model, who frankly, looks ridiculous!

Without photos of you in other outfits it's hard to know if they are less flattering or not, but possibly, as the side view you look slimmer than the front view, but you still look fab, so who cares, you don't have to look 'as thin as possible' in everything you wear!

id never have given them a second look on the website, as I said she looks ridiculous in them, but after seeing you in them I looked at what stock they had available...

they don't look too small/too tight!!

BasiliskStare · 16/08/2025 17:18

FWIW if they have side pockets which stick out a bit if the trousers are even a bit snug , that might be what your family are saying looks like tummy. I also don't think the run of the print across the hips is particularly flattering. They're not my cup of tea but you don't look bad in them at all, not at all. I do think they'd go better with black top / shoes though , like other posters

SwedishEdith · 16/08/2025 17:24

Actual Capri pants are shorter though, I think, like the model (who doesn't look ridiculous, let's not be silly). I'm 60+ and I have pants this shape in my charity shop pile.

tinyspiny · 16/08/2025 17:32

They look ok on the model because they are so much shorter on her , in your photos they look like they are arguing with your ankles

ForTheNightOrTheRestOfTime · 16/08/2025 17:33

I wouldn’t have recognised them as the same trousers. Obviously you’re shorter so they’re longer on you, but they just look like your trousers have shrunk a little because they’re not short enough and they do look a bit tight across the hips. They’re not terrible on you but I think you could find something nicer. However, as always, if you like them, does any of our opinions matter.

CVVFan · 16/08/2025 17:33

I’m short! 1.59/ 5ft2.5

DirtyBird · 16/08/2025 17:34

I love them. I don’t like the shoes, I’d wear black shoes with them.

SoScarletItWas · 16/08/2025 17:38

I like them too! but I’d like to see you in the next size up. I think they’re need to sit away from the body slightly rather than fit so closely. How are the side pockets? If they’re not sitting flat, they’re definitely too small. Not your body’s issue; it’s the pants sizing!

ScribblingPixie · 16/08/2025 17:52

I get why you like them, but if two people who care about you say they don't flatter you I'd listen, and look for something similar with a better fit.

Campingisnexttogodliness · 16/08/2025 17:56

Guess that's you getting some free time op. They surely won't be going with you? Enjoy the break from judgey folks.

They look great...

Maddy70 · 16/08/2025 17:57

Awful and unflattering TBh

Ruthietuthie · 16/08/2025 17:59

Too tight and too short.

ObliviousCoalmine · 16/08/2025 18:03

The outfit is nice. The trousers aren’t too short I’ve no idea what people are going on about. 2 inches longer and they’d be ‘too short’ for full length and not short enough for cropped.

The Toms on the other hand…

mondaytosunday · 16/08/2025 18:03

Not my thing but they look fine on you.

Sunaquarius · 16/08/2025 18:16

This is true

Catwoman8 · 16/08/2025 18:20

Sorry I don't think they are flattering at all.

minipie · 16/08/2025 18:25

The length is wrong, neither cropped nor full length.

The pattern is too busy for my taste

The bum looks great and I don’t see any belly

But the length would make it a no for me. I’m a similar height to you OP and I find cropped trousers only look ok on me if they are tapered inwards. Anything that is straight or flares out a little looks completely wrong unless it’s full length.

LivingDeadGirlUK · 16/08/2025 18:29

I think you should try them with a black shoe OP.
